Chapter 563
Chapter 563 The Woman In His Embrace
“Mommy!” “Ms. Jarvis!”
Roxanne emerged from the water, gasping slightly but with a wide smile on her face. The diving instructor surfaced next to her, grinning as well. They both waved at the anxious group on the yacht, signaling that everything was fine.
Lucian let out a breath he didn’t realize he had been holding. His heart, which had been pounding with worry, slowly returned to a normal rhythm. He watched as the children ran to the edge of the yacht, shouting in excitement and relief.
Roxanne climbed up the ladder, dripping wet but clearly exhilarated from the dive. As soon as she set foot on the deck, Archie, Benny, and Estella rushed to her, wrapping their small arms around her in a tight hug. She laughed, hugging them back with equal fervor.
“Mommy, are you okay?” Benny asked, his voice filled with concern.
Roxanne nodded, brushing back some wet strands of hair from her face. “I’m perfectly fine, Benny. It was so beautiful down there! I wish you could have seen it.”
Estella clung to her leg, looking up at her with wide eyes. “I was so scared, Ms. Jarvis. I thought something happened to you.”
Roxanne knelt down to her level, gently cupping her face. “I’m sorry I worried you, Essie. But everything was fine. The instructor took very good care of me.”
Lucian stepped forward, his expression still tense despite the relief of seeing Roxanne safe. “Are you sure you’re okay? That was longer than expected.”
Roxanne stood up, meeting his gaze. “I’m fine, Lucian. The instructor just wanted to show me some of the more beautiful parts of the reef. I lost track of time.”
The diving instructor nodded in agreement. “She’s a natural. Once she got comfortable, she didn’t need much assistance.”
Lucian’s eyes softened as he looked at Roxanne. He reached out, hesitating for a moment before placing a hand on her shoulder. “I’m glad you’re safe.”
Roxanne’s heart skipped a beat at his touch, but she managed to smile. “Thank you, Lucian.”
The moment was interrupted by the children, who were eager to hear more about her underwater adventure. Roxanne obliged, describing the colorful corals and the playful fish, her eyes lighting up as she recounted the experience.
Lucian watched her, a mix of admiration and something deeper in his gaze. He realized just how much he had come to care for this woman, despite their complicated history.
As the day drew to a close, they all gathered for a meal on the yacht. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and stories, the earlier tension forgotten. Roxanne felt a warmth in her heart, grateful for this moment of peace and happiness.
Later, as the children fell asleep in their cabins, Roxanne stood at the edge of the yacht, gazing out at the sea. The moon cast a silvery glow over the water, and the gentle rocking of the boat was soothing.
Lucian joined her, standing silently by her side. After a while, he spoke, his voice soft. “Thank you for today. The kids had a wonderful time.”
Roxanne turned to him, her expression thoughtful. “I should be the one thanking you, Lucian. For everything.”
They stood there in comfortable silence, the distance between them seeming to shrink. In that moment, under the starlit sky, they both felt a sense of possibility—a hope that perhaps, despite everything, they could find a way to move forward together.
The night air was cool, but neither of them moved, content to share this quiet moment. The future was uncertain, but for now, they had this—the sea, the stars, and each other. And it was enough.
