The Alpha King's Rebellious Queen
The Alpha King’s Rebellious Queen Chapter 100

Jemma’s POV

It had been a few weeks after my little sister’s eighteenth birthday. I was now in the fourth month of my pregnancy, and I looked positively huge. I swear I was ready to pop. But according to Angela, the pup’s growth had slowed, and she thinks I will probably be pregnant for another month. That only made me grumpy. I was ready to be done with this. I wasn’t able to do much activity without getting tired. For most days, I only worked half a day in the office. I still made myself exercise every day just because it helped alleviate the pain in my body.

I hate being idle. Sitting in my room just watching TV drove me nuts. It made me cranky, and I snapped a lot at Cassius, which made me feel bad because he was doing such an excellent job taking care of me. I hated making him upset. So in truth, I was an emotional mess. Izzy was kind enough to take me into her famous craft room, and we made different things for the twins. She taught me how to knit. I was a fearsome warrior learning how to knit. I caught on quickly and made booties for my babies.

Today was going to be a good day, I felt. Tiffany would be arriving at the palace for Luna classes. She also hoped to find her mate. Iain would be here also for alpha classes. I had planned for a nice lunch with my siblings and Esther. She would be attending luna classes, too, since she was the future luna of our pack.

After leaving Nicky with Liz, I went to the office with Cassius. Nicky had been doing well with his therapy, and the potion Dr. Jennings had given him was working well also. I let him go to pupcare every other day so he could still socialize. Liz took him the other days.

“You seem extra cheerful today, love,” Cassius remarked after getting off a video call.

I shrugged. “I am just happy that I get to see my little sister.”

“You just saw her a few weeks ago.” He chuckled.

“I know, but now we get to spend more time together.”

He grabbed my hand and pulled it to his lips. “It’s cute that you are so happy to see your sister.”

“I love my sister.”

He nodded. “I know. You are the most loving person I know.”

“I hope she finds her mate too. He better be a good one too, or I’ll kill him.”

He pulled me towards him and nuzzled my neck. “Tiffany is lucky to have such a protective big sister. But you have to give her mate a chance, and Tiffany has to make the decisions on her own.”

I rolled my eyes. “I know. I just don’t want a repeat of what happened to Ainsley.”

He kissed my forehead. “Have faith, love.”

We returned to work for a little longer when there was a knock on the door. “Come in!” Cassius called, and the door opened to reveal Terry.

“Are you about ready to go, son?” Terry asked his son.

He and his father were going to go out and about for some father-son time. I had no problem with it. He needed to spend time with his father. I didn’t know what they had planned. “I have one more phone call to make, Dad. Then we can get going.”

Terry walked over and sat in one of the chairs. He smiled at me. “How are you doing today, Jemma?”

I leaned back in my seat. “Alright, Terry. Your grandpups have been behaving today.”

He smiled. “That’s good to hear. I heard you have been quite the cranky puss lately.”

I narrowed my eyes at him and then looked at Cassius, who was glaring at his father. “Dad.” He mumbled through gritted teeth.

“Have I been that cranky?” I asked my mate.

He opened his mouth to say something and then looked at his father. “Dad, seriously. Throw me under the bus, will you?”

Terry snorted. “You are the one that told me how cranky she has been.”

Tears flooded my eyes. I didn’t want to cry in front of my father-in-law, but I couldn’t stop them. “Am I really that much of a burden to you?”

“No, love. You aren’t a burden. You are carrying my precious children. I know it hasn’t been easy, and it causes you pain, but it has made you a little well, yes, cranky. But I can handle it.”

I sniffled as more tears fell down my cheeks. He clasped my hand and looked me in the eyes.

“You are the most beautiful woman in the world. Serving you while you grow my offspring with your body is the biggest honor of my life.” He said to me with so much sincerity.

Sighing, I reached out my free hand to run it down his cheek. “You are forgiven.”

He smiled and leaned over to k**s me. “I love you, Jemma.”

“I love you, Cassius.” I relished the sparks that flowed through my body from our k**s. Then the twins started to kick against my bladder. “F**k.” I mumbled.

Cassius pulled away from me. “What’s wrong, love?”

I got up from my chair. “I have to pee,” I said while rushing out of the room, listening to Terry laughing. After I finished my business in the ladies’ room, I walked back to the office. Cassius was on the phone as I reentered the office.

Terry gave me a sympathetic look. “I am sorry I called you cranky, Jemma.”

I stopped beside him and leaned down to k**s the top of his head. “You are lucky I like you, Terry.”

He snickered. “Well, thanks for that.”

I walked back to the desk and sat down. Cassius was on the phone. His conversation sounded a little heated. I reached over and placed my hand on his free hand. His anger cooled almost instantly. He looked at me with a slight smile. My cellphone dinged, and I picked it up. It was a text from my sister telling me she had arrived with Iain and Esther. I replied to her quickly. Cassius had finished his call and was pinching the bridge of his nose.

“Damn petty a*s alphas,” He mumbled angrily.

Terry snickered. “So glad that isn’t my problem anymore.”

“Shut up, Dad,” Cassius growled.

Terry rolled his eyes. “Are you ready to go now, cranky a*s?”

“So now I am the cranky one?”

Terry nodded. “Yes.”

Cassius looked at me. “I am going to go with my father now.”

“Okay, my siblings are here. So I was just about to go meet up with them at the dorms.”

He smiled. ” Well, have fun, love. You deserve it.”

“We are just going to have lunch at the dorm cafe, then hang out till our classes this afternoon. I will probably go to luna classes with Tiffany and Esther. Then I set up dinner for us in the small dining room.”

“I should be home by then. But don’t wait up for me. Have fun with your siblings. Tell them I said hi.” He leaned over, and we kissed again. He inhaled my scent before rising from his seat. He then helped me to my feet and placed his hand on my belly. He leaned down to k**s it. “Be good to your Mama, pups.” Then he and his father left the office.

With a sigh, I waddled out. It took me a bit of time to reach the dorms. They were located outside of the palace, past the hospital and pupcare. There was a breeze that made me shiver. I was wearing a light summer dress, and the breeze was cool. I wore dresses almost every day as everything else was too uncomfortable to wear.

My siblings were standing out in front of the dorms when I approached. A few others were surrounding them. They all stopped talking and bowed as I reached them. I hugged my brother and then my sister. Esther stepped forward, and I hugged her. “Hey guys, how was your trip here?”

Iain shrugged. “It was alright.”

“Are you ready for lunch?”

“I am,” Tiffany said while looking around at the other wolves around us. A few of the future alphas were standing around. “Still no luck.” She sighed.

I laughed. “You just got here, Tiff.” I patted her arm. I saw a couple of the young alphas eyeing us.

“It looks like a couple of them have their eyes on you,” I said to my sister, making her blush.

“They are looking at you, Jemma. Your aura is quite powerful.”

I shrugged as Iain growled. “They need to keep their eyes to themselves. My sisters aren’t sacks of meat to be drooled over.”

“Did you just compare us to sacks of meat?” I asked my twin. Esther glared at him.

“Seriously, Iain.” Tiffany snorted.

He opened his mouth to say something as Jude and Avery walked over to us. I smiled at my two friends. I hadn’t seen them in some months since before everything that happened with Jeremy.

“Wow, Jemma, you look great,” Avery said as I hugged her. She sounded more confident than the last time I had seen her.

“I look like a barge,” I mumbled.

“A glowing barge,” Jude snorted.

I couldn’t help but laugh at that comment. “Good one, Jude.” My stomach rumbled, and one of the pups kicked me hard in the side. “Let’s go get lunch before these two break out of me.”

Their eyes all widened. “Are you alright, Jemma?” My brother asked with concern.

“I’m fine, Iain. I still have a month to go of this.” I reassured him.

He held up a hand. “Alright.”

“So, the king isn’t going to join us?” Jude asked.

“No, he is hanging out with his father today.”

They all seem disappointed. “But you can both have dinner with us tonight. I planned on a special dinner for Iain and Tiffany tonight, but I’m sure there will be plenty for you two to join us.”

Jude smiled. “That will be awesome.”

I started walking into the dorm towards the cafeteria. It was set up like something you would find in a high school with a long counter with lots of food selections. Lunch ladies were slopping food onto trays. My mouth watered as various food scents hit my senses. Everyone in the cafeteria stopped eating and talking as we walked in. They started to get up, but I held up my hands. “No need to get up. Just go back to your lunches.” I said to them. I always felt guilty when everyone stopped what they were doing just because I walked into a room.

“That has to get old after a while,” Esther said behind me.

I turned to her. “I wouldn’t say old. It’s just I feel guilty every time people feel they have to drop everything because I walked into a room.” I explained to her.

“That is one thing that makes me nervous about being luna. People constantly bowing to me. I see them do that with your mother, and I don’t think I want that.”

“Well, as luna, you will have the option of telling the pack not to bow. Or to only bow on certain occasions.”

She nodded. “I’ll have to consider that.”

We stood in the line, and I looked at the specials board, trying to figure out what I wanted to eat. I decided on Salisbury steak, and mashed potatoes sounded good with a salad on the side. The servers on the line all bowed as I walked through. After we all got our food, we sat at a large table. Tiffany sat on one side while Esther sat on my other side. As I was getting ready to take a bite of potato, one of the twins kicked me very hard in the side again, causing me to drop my fork. I cried out in pain and held my side.

Everyone at the table was staring at me. “Jemma, what the hell was that?” Iain said first.

Tears welled up in my eyes as I still felt the pain. “Their kicks are becoming quite forceful,” I managed to say as I wanted to cry, but I was holding back.

“Wow,” Tiffany spoke out. “I’m not so sure I want to have pups now.”

I shrugged. “The pain is worth it, Tiff.” I finally picked up my fork and began to eat my meal.

“So, I am a little nervous about luna class,” Esther piped in.

I turned to her while sipping on my water. “Why? They are just classes.”

“I don’t quite feel like I am luna material.” She explained. My brother grabbed her hand and looked lovingly at her. He pulled her hand to his lips.

“You are more than luna material, Es,” He smiled at her. “Remember I chose you.”

She blushed at his words, and I smiled at my brother. I could see he was utterly in love with Esther, and it was apparent that she felt the same. “I don’t know. It’s just hard to think I will be running an entire pack in two years.”

I snorted. “I didn’t think I was queen material. That’s why I ran away from Cassius when I discovered he was my mate.”

Esther laughed out loud. “I remember that. But why would you think you weren’t queen material? I mean, I always saw that way you were with our pack members. Like you could have hated me when Jeremy brought me home,” She looked down for a moment. I felt a twinge in my heart. “But you welcomed me and even defended me from the sluts.”

“I did it mostly for Nicky at first. You being his father’s mate meant you would be involved in his life, and I didn’t want to put him in the middle of a she-wolf pissing match,” I explained. “But then I sort of decided you weren’t so bad.”

“Oh,” She chuckled. “That’s another thing. I am sorry that Nicky called me Mommy. That wasn’t my idea. It was Jeremy’s,” She said with a shudder.

“Let’s not dwell on that, Esther. Jeremy is dead. He’s gone. We both have moved on,” I told her with a slight smile.

“Is he dead, though? I heard Iain and your father saying that they didn’t find his body after the battle.”

I sighed. “Cassius watched him die, and Nicky told me that Jeremy’s wolf Rex came to say goodbye to his wolf.”

“I sort of feel bad for Liz. Not having the closure of burying her son.” Esther said sadly. “Liz and Mark were the only good part of being mated to Jeremy.”

“I miss Mark too. So does Nicky. He misses going fishing with his Papa,” I said, remembering Nicky saying he wanted to go fishing. I wished there was someone else he could go with. My father was busy a lot. Terry wasn’t into fishing, and he offered to teach Nicky golf. “I think after the twins are born, I will take him.”

Iain snorted. “You fishing.”

I threw my wadded up napkin at my brother. “Yeah, you idiot.”

He dodged the napkin. “I am not an idiot.”

“Yes, you are,” I argued back to him.

He picked up his bottle of water and dumped it on my head, and laughed.

I glared daggers at him. “Oh, you are so paying for that, Iain MacKenzie.” I picked up a handful of mashed potatoes and smeared them on his face. Esther and Tiffany were laughing hysterically as the activity in the cafeteria went silent.

Iain returned my glare. He went to pick up his pudding and held it over my head. “Don’t you dare?” I said to him,

“Payback, sis.” He said as he flung the pudding towards me. I dodged it, and it flew into another person. I heard a growl behind me. I turned to see a large male wolf whose shirt was now covered in pudding. I didn’t recognize him but his aura and size told me he was one of the future alphas.

“What the f**k, MacKenzie?” He snarled and looked down at me and softened. “I’m sorry, your majesty. Is this jerk bothering you?”

I laughed. “Only since conception.”

“Mind your own business Francis,” Iain snarled at him.

The one called Francis glared at Iain. “Um, you are the one that threw pudding at me.”

“I wasn’t throwing it at you. I was trying to hit my dumb sister.”

I stuck my tongue out at my brother. “You are the dumb one.”

“No,” Iain retorted.

“Well, I can kick his a*s for you if you want,” Francis said to me with a smile that held a twinge of l**t.

“No, that’s fine. I can handle my own twin.” I said to him with a slight smile.

He leaned down. “Anything you need, anything at all, you just call me.” He smirked and walked away. I shuddered.

“He was kind of hot. You should have gotten his number,” Tiffany interjected.

“Tiffany! I am mated.”

“So, you could have given it to me.”

I sighed and rolled my eyes. I carefully stood up from the table. “Are you two ready for luna class?” I asked Esther and Tiffany.

“I am,” Tiffany replied while Esther nodded and stood up.

“What the hell? You can’t just ditch me.” Iain pouted with mashed potato still on his face.

Esther leaned down and kissed the top of his head. “We will see you later, babe.”

He smirked at her and pulled her down into his lap. He planted a passionate k**s on her lips, causing Tiffany and I to turn away. After what seemed like a whole minute, Esther was next to us. “Okay, I’m ready.” She smiled and walked past us.

I looked back at my brother, and he had a satisfied smirk on his face while his hands were covering his- I had to turn away quickly. “Yeah, I gave him a boner,” Esther stated triumphantly.

“Eww,” Tiffany and I exclaimed at the same time.

“Can you not say boner when talking about our brother,” Tiffany said with a look of horror.

“Agreed.”

Esther shrugged, and we started out of the cafeteria. As we were leaving the head royal warrior, Ward stepped in. He bowed to me. “Queen Jemma, you are looking lovely today.”

I smiled at him. “Thank you, Ward. What are you doing here?”

“Oh, I am going to whip these little wanna-be alphas into shape today and tomorrow.” He explained with a wicked smile.

“Where is Chris?” I asked about the regular trainer.

“His mate just gave birth to their first pup, so the king gave him a few days off. And I volunteered to sub for him. He is a good friend of mine.”

“Oh, that’s nice of you,” I pointed to my brother. “See, that one. Make sure you go extra hard on him.”

“Isn’t that your brother?” Ward asked with a chuckle.

“Yes.”

“Your bidding shall be done, my queen,” Ward winked at me.

I couldn’t help but laugh. “Have a good day, Ward.”

“You as well, your majesty.” He bowed again as I left the cafeteria with my sisters.

We walked out of the dorm and towards the palace. “Isn’t he a friend of Cass’s?” TIffany asked me.

“Yeah. I guess you could say that,” I replied to her.

“Then why is he so formal?”

“Ward is a very by-the-book warrior. He takes pride in that. So, he always stays formal with Cassius and I. He doesn’t even call Maria or Deke by their titles.”

“Deke is the royal beta, right?” Esther chimed in.

“Yes, he and Cassius are best friends too.”

“I like his brother Zion. He seems to be a good beta, and Ava and I have become good friends.”

“That’s good the hear. The luna and beta female often work together, so it’s good to know you like Ava. I haven’t interacted with her much. I want to considering, she is Cass’s cousin.”

Esther’s eye widened. “She is the king’s cousin? She doesn’t come off royal.”

“Well, she is his cousin on his mother’s side.”

“Wow, the more you know, I guess.” Esther chuckled. We reached the palace, and I felt the urge to use the ladies’ room again. “Hey, I’ll meet you guys outside of the classroom. I have a pup bouncing on my bladder.”

“I have to go to,” Tiffany declared. So we all ended up in the bathroom together like typical females. After our trip to the ladies’ room, we all made it to the classroom. We hung out in the hall for a bit as it was still early.

We were giggling and snickering while chatting. Other future lunas gathered around us, waiting for class to start. I noticed Tiffany straighten up and then glare at someone behind me. “What the hell is she doing here?” She sneered.

I turned to see who Tiffany was sneering at. It was Delilah. Our brother’s former mate with her arms around a large male. They were looking lovingly into each other’s eyes. She must have noticed us because she turned to smile at us. She dragged the male towards us. I heard Tiffany growl behind me.

“Hey Tiffany, Jemma,” Delilah said and eyed Esther. “What is she doing here?”

“Oh, she is here for Luna class too,” I explained.

Esther took a step forward. “I am the future luna of Zephyr Moon.” She said with more confidence than I had ever heard from her. I couldn’t help but feel pride for her.

Delilah sneered at her. “You? Meek little Esther. Good luck with that.”

Esther growled and balled up her fists. I had to hold her back. “Not now, Es.” I tried calming her down.

“Right. She is not worth my time,” Esther said and turned away from Delilah.

I heard Delilah growl as I turned in the same direction as Esther. Tiffany gave Delilah one more glare before joining us. The instructor walked up to us and smiled. “Good afternoon, ladies.” She announced to everyone. “Let’s go on in and get started.” She looked at me and bowed. “Hello, Queen Jemma.”

I reached out my hand to her, and she clasped it. “Hi, Sarah.”

“And you are wearing a dress. Did the king make you do that?” Sarah laughed.

I shook my head. “No, the king knows better than to make me do anything. No, I am wearing this dress completely voluntarily.”

I heard Tiffany gasp beside me. I ignored my sister. “I know you are all shocked. But dresses are the only clothes that feel comfortable on me right now.”

Sarah nodded. “Oh, I get what you mean. I wore dresses throughout all of my pregnancies. They are so freeing.”

I laughed. “Tell me about it. Trust me once these two are out. I will be back to my regular clothes.”

Tiffany snickered. “Yeah, you will so be wearing dresses still.”

I looked at my sister and stuck my tongue out at her. “Hush, Tiff.”

Sarah clapped her hands. “Come along ladies,” She walked into the classroom, and we all followed her in.
