The Alpha King's Rebellious Queen
The Alpha King’s Rebellious Queen Chapter 109

Jemma’s POV

Cassius carried me into our room. We had just returned from the Royal Hospital for the third time after I thought I was in labor. It turned out to be false all three times. I was starting to feel like an i***t. I have done this before. I should know what actual labor feels like. Angela and the other doctors assured me that every pregnancy is different, so I shouldn’t feel bad. Cassius set me on the bed, and I sighed. It was three in the morning. He should be sleeping. He had been working alone in the office for a couple of weeks as I was on bed rest for the most part.

“I am sorry,” I mumbled to him as he helped me out of my hastily thrown-on clothes. I was wearing a pair of shorts and one of his shirts.

He knelt in front of me and looked into my eyes with his ocean blue ones. He traced his hand gently down my cheek causing sparks to shoot through my body, making me shudder with pleasure. “Don’t be sorry, love,” His husky voice rumbled out.

“Why am I such an i***t? I know what real labor feels like. Why am I being tricked by false alarms.”

He shrugged. “I can’t answer that. I am just here to make sure you get to the hospital each time.”

“You should be sleeping. You have a long day dealing with two challenges and three mediations,” I sighed as tears welled up in my eyes. “And I should be helping you.”

“I have my Dad and Maria helping.” He explained. Maria was more or less covering for Deke, who was still celebrating the birth of his daughter. Terry was just bored, I think.

“I feel so useless,” I cried as tears fell down my cheeks.

He sighed and picked up a tissue from the box on the end table. He gently wiped my tears off. “You are not useless. Please stop saying that. The babies will come when they come.” He gently placed his hand on my belly. “Now, let’s get you ready for sleep.”

I stood up and pulled the sheets on the bed down, and laid down. It took me what felt like minutes to adjust myself to be comfortable enough, which didn’t happen as every position hurt at this point. Cassius lay on his side, giving me a sympathetic look. I know he wanted to do more. He helped tuck in the extra pillows I had on my side. He leaned over and kissed me.

“Goodnight, love.” He whispered as I snuggled down on the bed. It didn’t take long for him to fall asleep. I just lay on the bed and stared at the ceiling, unable to sleep. I shifted my position a couple of times while Cassius just snored away. I whimpered and g*****d a few times till his snoring stopped. “Love, please get some sleep,” He mumbled.

“I can’t get comfortable,” I whined.

He sighed and looked at me with his blue eyes. I could see the fatigue in them. I wasn’t getting much sleep lately, and that meant neither was he. “Try.”

“I am trying, Cassius,” I snarled at him with a little too much anger. I started crying again as there was a sharp pain in my back. “f**k!” I growled in frustration and threw the pillows on the ground. Cassius was lying on his back with his hand over his eyes. I knew he was frustrated too. “This is your fault, you know.”

“I know, I know. It’s all my fault,” He mumbled.

I started getting out of the bed, whimpering and grunting in frustration the whole time.

“What are you doing?” He asked.

“I’m getting out of bed,” I replied with another growl.

“Why?”

“Because I can’t sleep, Cassius. It’s affecting your ability to sleep, so I am going to go sit on the balcony,” I finally managed to sit upright and swing my feet over the edge of the bed. I stood up and started walked towards the sliding glass doors.

Cassius stood in front of me. “You aren’t going outside like that.”

I was wearing only a pair of panties and a bra. I folded my arms. “No one is going to see me, Cassius.”

“I don’t want to risk it. At least put on a robe.”

I rolled my eyes and turned to walk into the bathroom to grab my robe. I put it on, but it wouldn’t tie in the front, so my belly was still sticking out. I didn’t care and tried walking out again, only to be stopped by my mate again. “What now?”

“Can’t you take a blanket and fully cover yourself.” He said to me.

“Of for f**k sakes,” I growled. “It’s three in the morning. No one is sitting with a telescope looking at our balcony, Cassius.”

“Please, Jemma,” He pleaded with me.

I sat on the bed in a huff and folded my arms. “I just want to go out and sit on the balcony because I can’t sleep, and you need to sleep,” I start crying as I spoke. “But you won’t let me go out because you are a big dumb male,” I was now blubbering almost incoherently. “It’s your damn fault I am like this.”

He sighed heavily. “Just go sit on the balcony, Jemma,” He mumbled while pinching the bridge of his nose.

I sniffled and stood up. He handed me a couple of tissues as I waddled past him. I got outside and sat with my legs propped on one of the loungers. I glanced back in the room, and Cassius was lying down facing me. He looked exhausted, and now I felt guilty for crying and calling him dumb. Tears fell down my cheeks again as I looked up at the stars. I placed my hand on my belly, and the next thing I knew, I was being awakened up by Cassius. I opened my eyes, and the morning light was painting the sky pink. I looked at him through blurry eyes. “Did I sleep out here all night? What time is it?”

He was still in his boxers. “It’s nearly six am.”

“Why did you wake me?”

“I don’t like you sleeping out here nearly naked when the palace is waking up.”

I rolled my eyes at him again. “A*s,” I mumbled as I struggled to get out of the lounger. He reached down and helped me to my feet.

“I’m sorry, love. Call me insecure. I just don’t want other males to see my mate nearly naked.” He said as he helped me back into our room.

He let me go, and I waddled my way over to the couch and sat down. “Jemma,” He called to me as I ignored him while turning on the TV. “Jemma, talk to me. Don’t be mad.”

“I am not mad. I am irritated.” I turned to him. “I finally get some good sleep, and you woke me up because you are insecure.” I shook my head.

He sighed. “I have to get dressed.”

“Whatever,” I mumbled as I flipped through the channels on the TV. I didn’t know what I wanted to watch. I finally settled on Chopped. My stomach rumbled as I watched it. Cassius came out of the closet in one of his three-piece suits.

“They should be bringing breakfast up shortly. I’m going to go get Nick up,” He said to me as I admired his look. I smiled as I looked him up and down and took in his scent. He smiled back at me. “It’s nice to see you smile this morning, love.”

“Turn around and show me your butt.” He chuckled and turned around and wiggled his hot butt at me. “That’s my sexy man.”

He turned back to me. “I’m glad at least my a*s makes you smile.” He leaned down to k**s me. We held the k**s for a moment, and then there was a knock on the door. We both sighed as he pulled away and answered the door. “Thank you, just wheel it over to the couch, please.” He instructed the female omega delivering our breakfast.

The female omega rolled the cart towards me as Cassius exited our room. She bowed to me and picked up the TV tray I had been using to eat off of. “How are you doing this morning, your majesty?” She asked me.

“As well as I can be,” I replied, trying not to let my irritation come through. I wasn’t irritated with her. I was annoyed with everything. She set my breakfast on the tray and poured juice into a glass. I looked down at the steak and eggs and licked my lips. “You can leave the king’s food on the cart. He can serve himself,” I told her.

“Yes, ma’am,” She bowed and left the cart. She walked out of the room, closing the door behind her.

I dug right into my food and sipped my juice. I was almost done with my food before Cassius finally walked back into the room with a giggling Nicky on his shoulder. He set my son down and looked at the cart.

“Sorry, I didn’t wait, “I said with food in my mouth.

He shrugged and fixed Nicky’s plate, and set it on the coffee table. He then grabbed his food on it. We ate in silence. “So, you are going to help my mother plan my birthday party today?”

I nodded. “Yeah, I can’t do much, but I’ll try. I feel bad I can’t do more.”

“Quit doing that to yourself, Jemma. You are due to give birth any day now. We all understand that you can’t do as much as you’d like. No one is faulting you for that.”

I set my fork down. “I know Cassius. But I am an active person. I do not like sitting around doing nothing.”

He took a sip of his coffee. “You are not doing nothing. You are carrying our pups. They need you to be strong.”

I sighed. “Fine.”

“I’ll take Nick down to pupcare,” He said to me.

“He is excited because today is music day,” I told Cassius. Nicky had grown to like playing with various instruments. His therapist said it was good for him. I thought maybe when he got older. I’d sign him up for lessons on whatever instrument he wanted. “What instrument are you going to play today, Nicky?” I asked my son.

He looked back at me. “Drums!” He squealed and jumped up from the floor. He had syrup on his face from the pancakes he had been eating.

“Come here,” I said to him and beckoned him towards me. He stepped towards me, and I gently wiped the syrup off his little face. “My sweet boy doesn’t need syrup on his face.” I leaned down to k**s his forehead.

“Are you ready to go, Nick?” Cassius asked.

Our pup nodded, “Yes, Daddy.”

Cassius picked him up. “We are heading out, love. Mom should be here shortly. Just try to relax.” He leaned down and kissed my forehead. “Give you Mom a k**s, Nick.”

Nicky kissed the top of my head. “Bye, Mommy.”

“Bye, baby. Be good at pupcare.”

He waved as Cassius carried him out of our room. I sighed, pushed the tray aside, got comfortable on the couch, and watched my show until there was a knock on the door. The female omega from earlier bowed her head. “I am here to gather the dishes, ma’am.”

“Okay,” I replied to her with a smile. I was still only wearing my thin robe with only my undergarments under it. I had a pillow over my bare stomach, so I was mostly covered. The omega quickly cleaned up the dishes.

She looked up at the TV and smiled. She shook her head. “Sorry,” She mumbled.

“Sorry for what?” I asked her.

“I shouldn’t let myself get distracted by the TV. I need to do my work.”

I sighed and looked her over. She was young with blonde hair and blue eyes. She looked at the ground as she gathered the dirty dishes. “It’s alright. I won’t get mad at you for glancing at the TV. Do you like Chopped?”

She nodded. “Yes, your majesty. It was my grandmother’s favorite show. We used to watch it together a lot. She passed away last year.”

“I am sorry to hear that. But please don’t feel guilty about acting human in my presence. You can look at the TV. Hell, you can stand there and watch until the next commercial break.”

“I have other work I have to get to. But thank you.”

I smiled at her as she finished up with the dishes and placed them on the cart. I shifted on the couch and hissed at the sharp pain in my back. The omega jumped.

“Are you alright?” She asked with alarm.

“It’s fine. Just lots of pain.”

She placed her hand on her chest. “Good. I hope the royal pups come soon. Everyone is excited to see them.”

“Any day now.” I snorted.

She bowed. “Is there anything else I can get for you, your majesty?”

I pointed to the fridge by the desk. “I hate to ask, but could you get me a can of Sprite from there.”

She nodded and trotted over to the fridge and walked over with my soda. “Anything else?”

“No, thank you.” I opened the can and took a sip. “What is your name?”

She hesitated. “Irene.” She replied.

“Well, have a good day, Irene.”

“You too, your majesty.” She bowed again and then wheeled the cart out of the room.

Moments later, there was a knock on the door, and Izzy opened the door before I could answer. She walked in with her laptop and a bunch of notebooks and catalogs. “Wow, Izzy,” I said to her.

“It takes a lot to plan a king’s birthday party.” She set the stuff down on the table and picked up a notebook, and opened it. “I have already arranged the decorations and catering. We just need to pick out a few more details and make a few more invites.”

She handed me the invite list. I looked it over. “Why aren’t Romulus and Guinevere on here?” I asked her. The morning after the shower, Cassius and I revealed the identity of Daisy’s mate to our parents. Needless to say, everyone was shocked. Some were angry. Like Izzy was the most angry about it. She did not like the idea of her granddaughter being mated to a vampire. Even if he was just a hybrid, he was the crown prince, which meant someday he would be the king of the vampires, and my Daisy would be their queen. For some reason, Izzy was not on board with that.

“You know why.” She mumbled.

“Izzy, are you still mad about what happened?”

She gave me a stern look. “You know I am. You two just went right along with the vampires and don’t even consider anything else.”

“Izzy, it wasn’t the vampires that made the decision. It was the Goddess. She paired Daisy with Dominic. Tuatha told us we would meet her mate soon, and we did.”

“Still, you are signing your daughter’s life away to bloodsuckers.” She said while turning on the laptop.

“Isabelle, your daughter, is engaged to a vampire, and you like him.”

She sighed. “It’s different, Jemma.”

“How?”

“Titus is just an ordinary vampire. He isn’t the crown prince,” She explained.

“So,” I replied to her. “We all agreed that we wouldn’t force the kids to be together if they don’t want. We will allow them to spend time together while growing up, and when they are adults, we will let them ultimately decide if they want to remain mates.” I told her.

She sighed. “Let’s focus on the party. It will take my mind off of it.” She clicked a few things on the computer.

We spent about twenty minutes going over details of Cassius’s party. “What gift should I get him?”

She shrugged. “Well, you are making his offspring. So give him those for his birthday.” She laughed.

I snorted. “Seriously, Izzy.”

“What? I predict those pups will be born the same day as Cassy’s birthday.”

“That’s like five days away,” I whined. “I don’t want to be pregnant that much longer.”

She rolled her eyes. “Those pups will come when they come, dear. They are stubborn like their mother.”

I stuck my tongue out at her, and she laughed. I shifted myself on the couch. It was only around ten am, and I was sort of bored with the party planning. Ainsley had said she would come to visit me this morning. Right on time, there was a knock on the door. “Come in,” I shouted, and Ainsley walked in. She looked cute wearing pink overalls with her brown hair in pigtails. “You look adorable, Ains.”

She smiled and walked over to us. She kissed her mother’s cheek. “What are you two up to?”

“We are planning your brother’s birthday party,” Izzy replied.

“Oh, what have you done so far?” Ainsley asked.

Izzy closed her laptop. “We are pretty much done. I just have to go finalize a few things.” She started to get up from the couch. “You two have fun.” She began to walk out of the room, and a sharp pain shot through my body.

I cried out loudly, causing Izzy and Ainsley to freeze. The pain shot through my lower back, and it truly felt like a contraction. “f**k!” I managed to say.

“Holy s**t Jemma,” Ainsley squeaked out in alarm. “Is it time? Are they coming?”

I panted as the pain subsided. “I-i think so.” I breathed out.

Izzy had placed her stuff on the table and had her eyes glazed over. “I just mind-linked Cassius. Are you sure this time?”

I shook my head as more pain shot through my body, making me scream. Tears welled up in my eyes as I held my belly. “I don’t know,” I whined as the door of the room burst open, revealing my very alarmed mate.

“Is it time?” He shot out. “Are they coming?”

“I think so.” I wasn’t entirely sure. The three false alarms were making me doubt myself.

“Well, I am taking you to the hospital anyway.” He responded and picked me up, and ran out of our room. The pain subsided as we neared the hospital. Once we finally reached it, I was just numb. He carried me into the hospital, and Angela was standing by the front desk. “She’s in labor,” Cassius said in a panicked voice to Angela.

I sighed as I hadn’t felt any more pain. “I think it’s another false alarm.”

Angela smiled. “Well, let’s check you out anyways.” She beckoned us down the hall and into a room. Cassius set me down on the bed as Angela examined me. “Are you feeling any more contractions?”

“No, they stopped about halfway here.” I folded my arms as I felt dumb again. “How do I not know the difference between false and real labor? I mean, this isn’t my first pregnancy.”

Angela sighed and sat on a stool beside the bed. “I told you before. Each pregnancy is different. Okay. The pups are just taking their time arriving.”

“They need to hurry up and arrive. I am so over this,” I snarled.

Angela laughed. “I know. We all know.”

My shoulders fell. “Have I been that horrible about it?”

“No, I think everyone is just as anxious as your two.” She looked at Cassius. “You can probably take her home now. I don’t think she is in labor right now.”

He sighed. “Thank you, Angela. Sorry about all of the false alarms.”

She shrugged. “It happens, Cass.” She patted his arm. “Both of you need to relax.”

He leaned down and picked me up in his arms. I sighed as I hated being carried everywhere like a pup. “I know you don’t like being carried everywhere. But you also can’t walk far before I have to carry you anyways.”

Ten minutes later, we were back in my room. Ainsley and Izzy had been waiting for us. “Another false alarm,” I mumbled.

“Well, I can see that,” Izzy snorted with sarcasm as they followed us into the room.

Cassius set me on the couch. He leaned down and kissed me. “Love, I have to get back down to the office.”

I nodded. “I am sorry your i***t mate keeps interrupting.”

He leaned his forehead on mine. His blue eyes peered into mine. “Don’t be sorry. Okay. Just don’t get upset. We can handle this.” He kissed my nose. He nodded to his mother and sister then left the room.

“Damn, I love that man so much,” I said out loud.

Izzy and Ainsley looked at me with smiles on their faces. “And my son loves you more than anyone in this world.”

“I know,” I replied as they both sat on the couch, and we watched TV for the rest of the day, patiently awaiting the arrival of the twins.
