The Alpha Prince And His Bride
Book 2 The Alpha’s Forbidden Bride – Episode 26

I closed my eyes and listened to the heavy sound of his breathing. The memory of him falling from the top floor was still fresh in my head and I never wanted to see something like that again.

I knew now that he was the man that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with despite what he’d done to me in the past. There was this strong pull and I couldn’t escape from it. But I also understood the dangers of us being together now.

I wanted to remember every little detail I could about him. It was important to me; after all, I knew what must be done.

I had to listen to Hunter, had to give him what he wanted. He didn’t look like he was here to discuss anything; he was here to take me and judging by his actions, he was not leaving without me.

“I thought you might say that.” Hunter said with a knowing look. “But you might want to take a look outside.”

Austin and Lucas gave each other guarded looks. With their hands still holding onto James, they all walked outside with my sisters and I closely behind.

At first, I saw nothing out of the ordinary. But when I looked far enough, it was then that I saw something I hadn’t been expecting.

Something scary, something that made me want to run and hide.

There were hundreds of men just outside the palace’s gates. They were all dressed in black and had weapons strapped all around them. There was this dangerous look to each of them; they definitely didn’t come here for any games. They were ready for a war and so was Hunter.

I could hear Lucy’s gasp as well as Maya’s.

“I’ve had enough games.” Hunter told us. “It’s either we settle this now or Eden comes with me easily.”

“Never—”

“I’ll come.” I said, not giving James a chance to say anything else that could put him or his family in danger because of me.

James looked at me in shock. “Eden,” he whispered. “What are you doing?”

I faced him, hiding the brokenness inside of me. If he was about to believe my words, I needed to sound as heartless as I possibly could.

“You had your chance James and you wanted absolutely nothing to do with me. Instead you decided to pretend to be with that Clara girl in front of me, all of that just to get me to stay away from you. Well now you’re getting your wish. I’m leaving and you won’t have to see me again.”

Even though I was angry at James after what he’d done. I didn’t mean every single word I’d just spoken. I realized the gravity of the situation and if everything James had told me was true, this was the best thing to do in order to protect the people that I cared about.

I was not prepared for the look of betrayal that crossed his face as soon as the words slipped out of my mouth.

I had to fight the tears that threatened to fall.

I needed to remind myself that this was for the people that I loved.

I turned away from James and focused on the rest of my family as well as his.

I couldn’t look at him, not when he had that expression on his face. I said goodbye to each of them, one by one. I understood why everyone had chosen to hide everything from me, how would anyone ever believe something like this without actually seeing it?

“We will be there for the wedding Eden.” Lucy promised me.

I forced a smile on my face. “Thank you for everything, I’m lucky to have family like you.”

Her eyes shone brightly with unshed tears as she buried her face against Austin’s chest.

I turned to Isabella, trying my best not to look at James. If I did, I wouldn’t be able to hold onto the little self-control I had left.

“Are you coming as well?”

She nodded and took my hand in hers. “I’ll always be by your side, remember?”

I gave a small nod and we both turned to Hunter.

“EDEN!” I heard James shout. I closed my eyes and kept on walking. It was the most difficult thing I ever had to do, especially after hearing the agony in his voice.

“EDEN DON’T DO THIS!”

I could hear his roars as I went into the waiting vehicle. When I was safely tucked in, I looked out the window and felt a tear roll down my cheek.

There were multiple men holding onto James now, I didn’t even know where they came from. But even though I couldn’t hear his roars anymore, I still saw the way he fought to get to me.

I closed my eyes.

It was difficult to see James in any sort of pain.

I leaned back against the seat as the sound of unexpected rain battered across the wind screen.

“It’s going to be okay.” Isabella promised. “I’ll make sure of it.”

I wanted to say something in return but for some reason I couldn’t find the will to speak. I felt like I was leaving my entire life behind and it hurt.

A loud piercing howl rippled through the forest alongside the road. I felt my heart tug at the sound as I started to search around me almost desperately for the source behind the sound.

At first, all I could see was an object moving with incredible speed. It was black and moving so quickly that it almost looked like a shadow against the trees. But then for a quick second, the silver moonlight between the trees touched it, revealing thick black fur.

A wolf.

I gasped at the sight.

The wolf was beautiful, so damn beautiful that I couldn’t look away.

I watched in horror as other wolves caught up to him and prevented him from going any further. I winced at the sound of another piercing howl.

I wanted to protect the beast, I wanted so badly to take the pain away. I wiped at the tears as a sudden realization dawned on me.

Somehow I knew, I just knew . . . the wolf was James.

. . . . . . . . . .

~JAMES~

“I don’t want to hear it!” I roared as I flipped another table over. “I just want to get to Eden!”

“You cannot go to the council now.” Austin shouted. “You know the dangers; you know what happened to Eden just recently. Let’s get the girl for the Blackners and get them on our side. Once that is confirmed, we will have all that we’ll need for a fair fight.”

I knew that he was right. Despite all the anger and hurt building inside of me, I’d already learnt from my past mistakes. Eden’s safety was still my first priority.

“Where do you propose we start first?” I asked. “It’s not every day you see a lone hybrid just walking around.”

“I don’t think we have all day to sit around here and wonder where we will find her, we need to move now. The village is close and many people will be present there. I say we should start there.” He said as he grabbed a file.

I was going to find that girl if it was the last thing I did. She was the key to me saving Eden and I wasn’t going to let that opportunity slip away.

Oh Eden. My sweet mate.

I’m coming for you. . .
