The Alpha’s Mute Mate -
Episode 10
JACKSON
She completely hates me.
She couldn’t even look at me.
She thinks I abandoned her; she doesn’t know the whole story.
After Luna Sophia takes Brooke inside, Hudson shifts back into his human form.
I looked at him. “She has been scared of wolves ever since that night,” came a voice from one side of us, Austin.
“She’s scared of any form of dog; my mother tormented her. When we were in school, she would bring the most evil-looking dog in and make it bite her,” he says in a hateful tone.
Both Hudson and I growled.
“I didn’t think she was that bad,” says Hudson. “I didn’t shift back in front of her as her heart rate was through the roof. Thank god my mother came when she did.”
I smiled. “Well, Luna Sophia knew Brooke when she was a child, but she knew what was happening to her too.”
He looks back at me, confused. “What do you mean?”
I looked back at both of them and sighed. “Luna Sophia knew about the panic attacks she had after the attack. She would take her back to the packhouse. She would sit with her for hours as I was…….” I stopped as a tear slid down my face. A hand moves it away, and tingles go through me. Alanna smiled up. “You were a mess hunny; everyone knew that.”
I smile but don’t say anything.
I look towards Alpha Marcus and Beta Logan, who give me sympathetic looks.
We move closer to the hospital door, only to see Luna Sophia looking through the door window where Brooke was staying.
“Mum, why aren’t…..” Hudson says, but he stops when she looks at him, tears in her eyes.
“She doesn’t remember being here,” she says in a small voice. Alpha Marcus goes to his mate and consoles her.
“She only remembers the attack on her mother and herself,” she says, and turns to Hudson with sadness. “She doesn’t even remember being close to you or your sister.”
Hudson looks defeated, and his shoulders go lower.
“How?” he asked; pain and sadness were written all over his face.
“I don’t know Hudson; it feels like she blocked everything out due to all the pain she suffered at the hands of that horrible human,” she says, letting a growl slip.
I looked towards the door, listening in on my daughter. She had fallen back asleep.
I look at Luna Sophia; she smiles at me. “Jackson, she will need time.”
I sigh.
I want my daughter back.
I want to kill that b***h for what she has done to her.
“Calm down hunny,” says Alanna, holding my arm.
I look down at her. “I’m trying, but I want answers to why that b***h did all that to my daughter,” I say, earning a growl from Hudson. “Me too,” he says. “Something must have happened for her to be a monster and even hurt a human child too.”
We all nod in agreement.
Hudson turns to Alpha Marcus. “Any news from the other packs?” He asks with a hint of hope.
Alpha Marcus looked between us, but it was Beta Logan who spoke. “Yes, they have been seen traveling north,” he said but looked towards the Alpha.
“They’re with rogues,” says Alpha Marcus.
We all looked back at them in disbelief. “How?” I tried to form a sentence, but I couldn’t.
Alpha Marcus looks behind us. I turn to see Austin and Tasha standing; Austin seems pissed at the alpha’s statement, “What do you mean they are with rogues?” He shouts.
Alpha Marcus presses a finger to his mouth to tell him to keep quiet due to Brooke as he looks toward the door.
Alpha Marcus moves away, and we all move out of the hospital and head outside to talk. But when we were outside, a few guards were approaching us. “Alpha, a woman is standing on the pack borders, wanting to talk to you,” one said.
“Who is she?” Alpha Marcus growls.
The guard looked like he would piss his pants but recovered quickly. “She says she needs to talk to you and Jackson,” he said, looking between us.
No words were exchanged; we all shifted into our wolf forms and headed to the border where the guards told us to go.
When we all arrived, I shifted back and looked at the woman. How the hell did she know about this place?
“How did you know where to find me?” I asked.
Everyone looked back between us, confused. “Hunny, who is she?” says Alanna from my side.
“Hunny, huh,” she says, smirking. “So you had a second chance, mate then?”
“Why are you here?” I asked her. I haven’t seen her since my first mate gave birth to Brooke.
“Is that how you greet your sister?” she says and looks toward Alpha Marcus. “The big bad Alpha has his Luna, but you forgot about me too.” shaking her head at him.
He looks at her but smirks at her. “Lesley,” he says, “How the hell are you here? You left the pack to find adventures,” he says.
Luna Sophia looks at her and smiles. “Lesley Parker.”
Lesley looks at her and smiles. “Soph…..I mean Luna Sophia.”
Luna Sophia grabs her and pulls her into a hug. Alpha Marcus looks on and smiles. “The terrible three.”
I looked at him, but sadness hit my heart as we all used to call my mate, my sister, and Luna when we were younger and all waiting to find our mates.
Suddenly, my sister sniffs the air and glares at Beta Logan, who has a stupid smirk on his face. “Hello, mate,” he says.
We all looked back, stunned.
“You knew who your mate was,” I asked him; he had a stupid smirk on his face and nodded. “Yeah, I found out the day she left as her scent was driving me crazy, but she didn’t know until now,” he says.
I looked back at my sister, glaring even harder at Beta Logan; I chuckled.
“My mate had to be you,” she says in a snarl.
She looks at me but stops. “Where’s my niece?” she asks suddenly.
She doesn’t know about everything. She’s been gone for a long time.
“What’s wrong?” says Lesley, looking at the sad, painful faces staring back at her.
“We need to talk, it’s a long talk, but you need to know,” I said with a sigh.
“We will leave you both to talk,” says Alpha Marcus, but Lesley looks at Beta Logan, who looks like a lost puppy or something like he doesn’t know where to go.
“You go with him. I will find you in a little bit. I want to know about my niece,” she says, and Logan looks with sad eyes, but he knows she needs to know.
While everyone moves back to the packhouse, we stroll back. I had to explain everything from the rogue attack to the stupid mistake of marrying someone else.
Lesley looked like she would kill me once I explained everything to her.
“How could you marry a horrible piece of trash like that? You knew you could have had a second chance, mate,” she says. “When did you meet Alanna?”
I laugh but grimace at the memory. “I was leaving the house to go to the market; I bought the first house outside the pack grounds as it would be closer to the pack. I went into the market, and she was there. I was amazed to find my second chance, but then things went to hell,” I say.
“Where are the humans now?” She asks.
I looked at her with a hint of anger. “We are searching for them; we have other packs looking around too.”
Before I could say any more to Lesley, Luna Sophia comes running up to us in wolf form, and she shifts straight away. “Brooke, she’s gone,” she says, with worry coming from her voice.
No, she can’t be gone again.
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHE’S GONE?” yells Lesley.
We all start to run back to the pack hospital.
“She wasn’t in her bed; she was left on her own. Only her scent was in the room. But no one knows where she is,” she says. “Hudson and Rex are in wolf form looking around for her.”
I can’t help the guilt and worry slipping in.
Where the hell did my daughter go now?
