The Alpha’s Mute Mate -
Episode 22
AUSTIN
I watched as my sister walked away with her father. I hope they reconcile as it has been many years in the making, even though Jackson caused all this and my mother.
Jackson was in a bad place when he came into our lives. He was always drinking heavily, but one day he vanished, leaving Brooke in the care of my mother.
I always cared about Brooke and tried to fight her corner, but my mother would beat me even if I went anywhere near her. I did little things to help her, such as helping her read and giving her something to write. When I went to college, I thought I would find a way to help Brooke; even though I had to leave her behind, I had to leave. But I admit I was happy to be out of that toxic place. There were always different men roaming around the house.
My father would have been so ashamed of the man I was. He would have wanted me to save Brooke or find a way to keep her safe or even get away from my mother. I was a weak man, but when Tasha came into my life, she made me the person I am today. When Tasha marked me, I became a werewolf. It was the most amazing but scary thing to be part of. I knew nothing about werewolves until Tasha told me, which was a shock. When I first heard my wolf, I thought I was going crazy. I moved in with Tasha into the packhouse, but the biggest surprise was seeing Jackson with another woman in the pack. Jackson explained to me that he had found his second chance mate and that she had saved him. But my mother made up the story that he was an unfit father, so he couldn’t get anywhere near Brooke.
I remember a few months after moving into the pack, my mother rang me out of the blue, telling me they had all moved closer as she wanted to be closer to me. She sent me their address, and I was shocked to see that it was only a few miles away from where the pack ends.
I told Jackson that they had moved close by, and he was so happy. But I had to tell Alpha Derek and Jackson all about her abuse by my mother and Madison. Both the alpha Derek and Jackson came up with the plan to save Brooke, even roped in Hudson to help even though he was hell-bent on not doing anything, but after Jackson begged him to help him get his baby girl back, Hudson could only agree to help.
I never told anyone in the pack that my mother and the rogue were mates, as I never put the two and two together; I’m not his son anyway. My mother had a first marriage with my father was human, and my mother didn’t want to divorce him, so her mate killed him instead. She became pregnant with Madison not long after and then also went on to have another son called Cody, but when he turned nine, her mate placed him in an orphanage. Apparently, her mate never wanted him. When I realized he was gone, I was going to look for him. It was not his fault that our mother was a horrible person.
I have been looking for him ever since. I have been looking into places and found an organization that helps care for orphans. I found someone who helped out there or knew more about it. I found her on Facebook.
Suddenly, a ping came on my phone, taking me out of my thoughts.
A Facebook message from Amy: Amy Harrison
I think I know your brother; a few orphaned children came through my pack. I can meet you by your pack; I live about an hour away. If you can, could you pick me up from the bus stop as I have my baby sister with me?
I look back at the message.
I knew it was a long shot, but I had to ask; Amy has been helping me for the last few days looking for Cody. But Tasha has also been helping me look into other packs, and she knew of a pack that would take orphans in. The pack would train the children to be warriors at a young age, but the young ones would be placed in homes till they became the age of ten. My brother only had one more year till that happened, and I wanted to find him beforehand. I knew he would be a wolf due to his father.
I wanted to ask Jackson for help, but I don’t think he would have helped me, especially if he knew who his father was. But Cody’s just a child, and he has nothing to do with any of this.
I quickly replied to Amy, saying I would meet her by the bus stop. I ran inside the packhouse to find my mate. When I got to our room, where she was, I explained everything to Tasha that was going on, and she agreed that I should meet Amy and that she would stay here.
Tasha frowns. She was going to help Luna Sophia with the meal as she wanted to make Brooke feel welcome here at the packhouse. “Ok, I will stay here and help Luna Sophia, be careful babe,” she says as she k****s my lips.
I let go of Tasha, grabbed my car keys, and headed out. But there was a crowd forming. Everyone was over where Jackson and Brooke were. I wonder what the hell that is all about.
I wanted to go and see what was going on, but I needed to get to Amy.
I have to leave now to bring Amy here and to find out what Amy knows. I haven’t explained anything to anyone yet as I don’t see how they would react to my brother, especially when they find out who his parents are. Tasha and I discussed it when I told her about him, and she is more than happy to help me raise my brother. I would happily take Cody on as my own.
I climbed into the car and drove down the pack road, straight out through the pack gates.
I headed to the bus stop, a few miles away, where Amy wanted me to pick her up.
I arrived there a few minutes before the bus arrived, and I had my phone in front of me, so I knew when I saw Amy. But after a few people got off, I noticed her. She had two bags with her and also a car seat too.
I climbed out of the car and headed toward her.
Amy smiled and looked at me. She handed me the car seat, where I spotted a sleeping little girl.
“She fell asleep about fifteen minutes ago,” she says.
We walked to my car, and I placed her sister in the back seat. Once her sister was safely placed in, I climbed onto the driver’s side.
I drive off and head back to the packhouse, but after a few moments, Amy sighs loudly. “Is Hudson there in the pack?” she asks.
I turned to look at her, stunned.
I didn’t say anything to her.
How the hell does she know Hudson?
