The Alpha’s Mute Mate
Episode 50

BROOKE

I slowly move around in bed and stretch out but I can’t help but rub my eyes as I focus my eyes on where I was.

I look around and realize that I’m still in my mother’s room.

I remembered coming in here and to talk to her, she left and Joe stayed with me. I don’t even know when he left as I dropped off to sleep but the sleep I had was amazing.

I look around the room but my eyes land on a dress that is placed over a chair.

I can’t help but smile.

“We have to meet mate for breakfast” says Willow suddenly in my head.

Somehow hearing her say mate makes me have butterflies in my stomach but I shake my head trying not to think about it as I climb out of bed.

Willow laughs “Brooke, he’s our mate” she says “You are going to feel something for him due to the mate bond but like your mum said last night take it easy ok.”

“I will, I don’t want to rush anything” I say back to her.

I quickly get up from bed and grab the dress and head straight into the bathroom. I have a quick shower and wash my hair, which I leave to dry naturally when I come out, only towel drying it slightly and get dressed. The dress is navy and comes up to my mid-thigh. My mum paired it with a pair of silver flats.

I checked myself over in the mirror before I leave the room and head to the hall. Hudson and I never set a time to go down for breakfast, so I thought I will meet for him down there.

The hall was packed with all pack members, I scan the hall but I instantly regret doing it and coming down as I look at a table where Hudson was sitting and he wasn’t alone, he was with the girl he fell in love with.

I start to feel tears behind my eyes and eyes on me soon realizing that Hudson has noticed that I’m in the room. He removes his hand but I feel like the hall’s caving in around me, I can’t breathe.

Willow hisses out at the sight, I can feel her anger building up.

We need to get out of here, with that being said I turn on my heal and ran out of the hall, straight through the packhouse door and run straight down the steps towards the clearing in the forest.

I don’t know where I’m going but I ran, tears running down my face. He is never going to change; I’m always going to be second best to her.

I trip over something and land face down on the ground.

I move up slowly realizing that I grazed my knee and pull my both knees up to my chest.

I let the tears flow down.

“Brooke” says willow.

But I can’t answer her, I don’t want to talk.

Willow looks at me “Brooke, it’s ok” she says smoothly but suddenly a branch breaks behind me and we quickly move and stand but standing hurts me due to my knee but to the side of me is a man, the man that I’ve seen with that girl.

“I’m sorry to startle you” he says and then smiles at me “My name is Shane, I’m Amy’s mate.”

I nod.

But he carries on looking at me “Brooke I was wondering if we could talk” he says.

I look towards the front of me and sit back down; I really don’t want to talk to anyone.

I can sense Shane moving closer to me and he sits next to me “I know how you feel Brooke” he says quietly “Amy told me everything, about Rex and the baby, even falling for Hudson.”

I can feel his pain running through him, it feels like mine.

“Amy told me everything after finding out I was her mate, a few days later. She told me she felt confused about how she was feeling” he said, I can’t help but look at him.

He turns his head to face me “She hurt my feelings, I was so mean to her when she told me everything and I even slept with someone else just get back at her for what she said but one day we were forced to work together, the alpha wanted us to get alone as she was his assistant” he says “The alpha even locked us in the office for a full day.”

He gives me a small smile “It worked, we didn’t talk for the first few hours but we both kept glancing back at one another when the other wasn’t looking, typical high school stuff really” he says “But Amy made the first move, we talked and I mean seriously talked. Her life being a human in a pack full of werewolves was hard; I never knew that people degraded her for being a human.”

His disgust for what his mate flows through but he looks at me “She told me that I reminded her of Hudson, so stubborn and stupid about humans thinking they were weak that she would gladly be human any day just so she can be normal and live a life with no regret” he says but his eyes say more “We talked for ages and when the alpha finally decided to let us leave, I took her on a date with her that night. I had to get to know her not by what other people were saying about her but for me, after all she’s my mate” he says as he looks at me.

I look at him “Do you feel hurt that she fell in love with someone else?” I mouthed to him, Shane looks at me and shakes his head “I did at the beginning but as soon as I touched Amy the mate bond was affecting me and also my wolf, he wanted her too. But he was hurt more that she felt the same way for someone else instead but also for having a baby with a completely different wolf too” he says with a sigh.

He smiles back at me “Hudson fell in love with someone who guided him through the dark times and I have to say, you have guided yourself out of the dark times by yourself which I must have to admit is very impressive, not many people could come back the way you have and also have the most gorgeous smile too” he says.

“Brooke he is right, you have come a long way and you have done it all by yourself” says Willow proudly.

I can’t help but register what they are saying; I can feel the warmth coming from Willow and Shane’s acknowledgment too.

“I thought talking to me would be easy for you as I have to say, you are not the only one that has been hurt by all this and Daisy is in a rough place too, ever since she came back, she hasn’t been anywhere near Rex which I can understand but I think with everything going on she just needs to clear the air with him” he says.

I can’t help but nod at him “I think so too” I mouth.

Shane and I sit in silence for a few moments but I look back at him, I touch his arm to get his attention “How are you and Amy now? I mean being in the pack with Rex and Hudson.”

He looks at me and sighs “When I first came here, I wanted to beat the crap into both of them but they took me out for a few drinks and we hashed it out over a few beers and I have to admit I did punch the two of them but then I heard Amy talk about you and I knew I had to stay here, you are Hudson’s mate and I know you will be happy with him but the second guessing yourself about if this is going to work will always happen till you talk and clear the air with him but I do have one suggestion though” he says and gets up to stand, I do the same.

“What?” I mouth back to him.

“I think you need to talk not only to Hudson but to his wolf too as his wolf can tell if he has changed too but also talk to Amy too but that’s up to you but I think having both sides of the story is better, it helped me more with everything when I came here as I got to hear Hudson’s side as well as Amy’s” he says.

I don’t know if I can talk to Amy yet but I might give it some more thought later but Willow hisses in my head “Brooke, talking to her might be a good thing, there is always two sides to every story and once we listen to mate, we can talk to her when you are ready” she says but her face becomes stern and hard “I will speak for us when we do if you want.”

I can’t help but smile at her; Willow has been protecting me my whole life and still is now.

I look back Shane who has an amused look on his face “You were talking to Willow” he asks and I nod.

Willow comes forward with me “We will think about talking to your mate” she says which startles him slightly but he quickly recovers and smiles “That’s all I can ask for” he says and looks to the clearing where we run through “I think we should head back, Hudson wants to know if you are alright” he says and smiles at me.

I nod and we walk back slowly, as we come closer to the clearing where the pack house stands I touch Shane’s arm to make him look at me once again “Can I talk to you again?” I mouth and he smiles wide at me “Brooke, we are friends now and I’m not leaving your side” he says.

I smile back.

We both head back up to the pack house with Hudson walking towards us, I can see Amy on the pack steps waiting for Shane.

I sigh as we stand in front of Hudson, Shane looks between the both of us “I will see you around Brooke and Hudson, take the girl around the pack grounds I think” he says with a smile and then he turns running straight to Amy.

Hudson and I look at each other “I think we should talk” I mouth and Hudson looks at me and smiles “Yeah that be great, shall I take around the pack grounds.”

I nod.

Hudson turns and we head in a completely different direction to where I ran off too earlier.
