Episode 67

HUDSON

There were too many rogues surrounding us; they separated me from everyone.

“Well, trainee,” says Alfred in a gruff voice.

I turn around and glare back At him; I can sense Brooke is over the second circle.

“HOLD HIM” he shouts suddenly.

Rogues hold me down, I try to fight them off, but there are too many of them as more grab hold of me to hold in place.

I can see Willow flying straight towards the circle that is holding me. “Don’t touch my followers,” snarls Alfred looking towards her.

“Change back into human form,” he shouts to Willow, who hovers overhead.

“Come, child,” snarls Alfred as he pulls something from behind him.

Willow hisses, “If that sword goes anywhere near mate, he will die,” she says to him.

“Mate wants to protect us,” says Asher in my head.

Alfred leans forward and closer to my ear. “I will enjoy taking your mate mine,” he says feeling his smirk on his face, “she will be all mine.”

I can’t help but snarl as Alfred pulls me back; he leans closer to my ear. “Why do you think I made sure you never liked humans, huh,” he says as I can feel his smirk still on his face. “Once Danica told me to go to hell, I went after that beauty instead, she had such a big crush on you,” he says with a laugh.

Suddenly Brooke starts to descend to the ground and closes her eyes, landing firming on the ground a few yards away from the rogues and me.

She opens her eyes as Brooke stares back at me. She is an image of perfection. I am so glad the flames never burned her clothes tho as I would be finding it harder to control Asher, but she walks towards us as growls are erupting around us, but some pack members are shouting and screaming as more rogues are holding them back.

“Well, my child, you are a sight’ he says. “To think I was making them pathetic humans torture you to get you to reveal yourself to me.”

Brooke doesn’t say a word but stares at me. I don’t take my eyes off her for one second.

Brooke comes straight in front of me but stares back at Alfred.

Willow comes through slightly. “You want us,” she hisses at him. “Let mate go.”

Alfred laughs loud “No can do sweetheart, he is the key to you.”

They c**k their head to him. “Why do you care about him and want him dead?” she says.

The man looks at them. “He is your mate is he not.”

They nod.

“Well, he must die,” he says and holds up whatever it was high above my head.

“I was wondering if I could talk to mate first,” Willow says.

The man looks back, stunned. “You want me to kill him,” he says with confusion in his voice.

After a few seconds, he growls “You lie.”

Willow hisses more “We don’t want mate,” she says.

Why would she say something like that? What doesn’t she want us? I can’t help but look at her, feeling hurt. “We will kill mate, and we will leave together.”

I can hear loud growls at what she just said, mainly from the pack members.

Something doesn’t feel right.

Willow takes a step closer to me and leans into my ear. “Wait for us,” she whispers to us, which sends a shiver down my spine.

With that, Willow moves to the side and grabs whatever Alfred holds above my head. He moves back in shock and shifts into a giant brown mattered wolf; I need to save Brooke.

I use all my strength and get all the rogues off me only to look up when Willow screeches come through as Alfred drives a big sword straight through her.

I let out a roar of pain as I could feel the pain she was in.

In her final attempt to make sure every single rogue was killed, Willow bursts into flames and takes every rogue, including Alfred, with her.

Screaming and ash are flying everywhere.

Another screech as Danica changes into her Phoenix and takes out the remaining rogues chasing them away.

I fall to my knees as I feel like my heartbreak and the pain take hold of me/

I let out a loud thundering roar.

Everyone trying to get to me was in front of me; everyone shifted back into their human form submitting to the roar I let out.

There is silence but suddenly “She’s……gone,” says Daisy in a quiet voice, which I can hear. She falls in front of me and whimpers. Rex kneels between us, pulls Daisy into him, and places his hand on my shoulder, comforting us.

I can’t help the tears that flow down my face, my mate just died and she saved me once again.

Suddenly there is a loud flapping sound overhead and soft wind, Danica. She lands in front of me, I can’t help but look up at her.

She stares back at me. “She saved you,” she says in a whisper.

She moves closer to me, kneeling in front of us. “Did she say anything to you?” She asks looking at me.

I nod.

“Wait for us,” I say to her in a whisper.

“Hudson, I don’t know what she was thinking,” says Danica staring at me “She used proportion, she sent herself somewhere.”

I stare back at her. “What do you mean?” I asked.

“She means Brooke could be anywhere right now, and if she is dying from that blade that was in her,” says Joe as he joins me, he has been in Adonis’s arms. “She told me that she will be safe, and she will find us soon.”

Danica looks at him confused “She did; how do you know?” She asks.

“She signed to me using her fingers before she did what she did,” he says as a tear slides down his face.

Danica places a hand on my shoulder. “Hudson, she will be back, but there is one thing you must know about us Phoenix shifters; we take time to resurrect,” she says with a smile. “You are her mate. You felt everything that she felt just now.”

I nod. “Well, you will start to feel better, and something will change within you. You will feel like something is calling out to you, and you will want to go to it,” she says, staring at me.

Danica stands and holds her hand out for me to take.

I get up, taking it to stand. Daisy and Rex move as well but take a few steps away. Rex comforting my sister as she softly cries into his chest.

I take in my surroundings, there’s ash flying everywhere, but I can see many dead warriors lying on the ground, but everyone near me surrounds me.

I look towards my father, who is giving out orders, and everyone does what they are told.

“Do you know how long I have to wait?” I ask Danica, who is looking around at the sight before us.

She sighs. “No, Hudson, I don’t, but we should make sure everything is ready for her return.”

I look at her, and she smiles. “The last time I died, I came back to life after four months; Brooke did something which I am hoping will not be the end of her being, but Willow is one magnificent creature but more powerful than my phoenix, she gained all her powers within a few weeks.”

I can’t help but give a small smile.

“Hudson,” my father calls to me; I turn back and watch him walk towards us.

I can feel Danica stiffen slightly, but I soon realize that my father is not alone, Jackson’s walking next to him and heading towards us.

“Dan, why don’t you make amends with Jackson?” I say to her quietly. She never looks at me, her eyes watching Jackson’s every move. “I mean, when Brooke comes back, she will need your support in reconnecting with him as they left on bad terms, plus he is going to be in a mess too.”

“I think you are right,” she says in a whisper.

My father and Jackson stand in front of us. Jackson has tears streaming down his face, but Danica startles him by placing her hand on his cheek. “I think we need to talk,” she says quietly. All Jackson does is nod, and they both walk off.

“Your mate saved my life,” my father says softly; I can’t help but look at him.

“I was surrounded, and she told me to duck when I did I watched and felt the power radiating off of her,” he says and turns to me, “I think son, we will make you the alpha of this pack soon, whether you want to wait for your Luna or we start now, but one thing is for certain,” he says “Your mother is right, I’m getting too old for all this.”

I can’t help but chuckle at the statement, “I want to be alpha dad but not just yet,” I say after I compose myself. “I think once we can make this pack safe for everyone, I mean I have a few ideas I would like to do and change, would you help me? Also, I want to make it safe for Brooke’s return; I’m going to wait for my Luna.”

My father looks at me with a big smile and nods. “I’m so proud of you, Hudson; of course, I will help. We will arrange everything, and you can tell me everything that you want to do with the pack; I will help in any way that I can.”

“We will help you with whatever you need to,” says a voice from behind us; we both turn around to see Alpha Josh and Todd walking towards us.

“Brooke was magnificent,” says Alpha Josh, but Todd looks at me. “You are scared she may not return, aren’t you?” he says.

All three men stare at me; I sigh, “I have not been the best mate to her; I listened to a crooked man about something that everyone here knew to be false. I rejected her because of first glance, even if I didn’t recognize her straight away,” I say, looking between them. “I want to make this pack safe for all, including other shifters and humans. I want everyone to feel safe here, especially Brooke.”

Todd smiles. “Well, at least you admit that you were wrong,” he says and looks around. “Why don’t we draw up plans? My brother and I will be allies in the same fight with you. We can follow whatever it is you want to do.”

“You would do that,” I ask, but Alpha Josh smiles. “We would, we may even know a few other packs who would like to join too,” he says with a smile.

“I think we should sort out here first,” says my father. “We can discuss everything tomorrow.”

We all agreed and walked around, helping people who needed help. We need to get everything ready for Brooke’s return.
