Makahi POV:

“ROGUES SPOTTED AT THE EAST BORDERS!”

Blaze mind linked the pack! “s**t how many? ” I asked running out of the office towards the east border taking my shirt off as I ran. I had no time to discard my pants so they will get shredded when I shifted. “looks like maybe 15 or more.” Blaze responded. “Hunter make sure all the women and children are in the safe houses.” Copy that Hunter responded. “I need at least 5 guards on each border NOW to make sure there is no more waiting to attack. Everyone else at the east border .”I yelled cutting off the mind link. As I approached I see Shadow grabbing a rogue wolf by its neck and snapped it like it was nothing and he hadn’t even shift yet. Wait what the hell is he doing here and not on the west with the humans. Just before I could ask.

I see my mother running toward me frantic “Mom why aren’t you in one of the safe house? And where are the human women?” I asked opening up my mind link again as I broke into a run towards my mother and I could see Shadow and Montago following. “I don’t know they were out back training and -and when I heard the growl I looked out back and they were gone. Kahi we have to find them they can’t die please find them Oh my Goddess Razor I didnt see him he must have gotten out some how he was so fond of Ji’lahni he must have ran after them.” My mother cried and fell into my arms.

“Damn it mother I told you to keep your eyes on them. Go to the safe house with dad and I’ll find the girls and Razor.” “No those girls were my responsibility I can help search for them, I can fight.” “Mother there’s no time to argue I can’t search for them and worry about you now please just go.” I said handing her to one of the guards that were helping some other women and children to the safe house. So far my men were keeping the rogues at the border they hadn’t made it to the community yet. With any luck they won’t. Just then I heard a roar that came from the west just as Shadow roared and shift in the blank of an eye and took off towards the west borders where we had the humans housed.

Me and Montago both broke out running we didn’t want to shift and scare the humans any more then they already were so we weren’t going to shift unless completely necessary. When the house came into view I immediately heard Razor barking which let me know he wasn’t in the house he must be in the wooded area where I can only assume the human women were. “SHADOW THEIR IN The WOODS BEHIND THE HOUSE GO IN FROM THE BACK” I mind linked and he let out a howling growl and broke off from us to come up behind the house while we headed to the back of the house. All in my matter of seconds which felt like minutes once again I smelled the scent of watermelon and something else I still couldn’t put my finger on.

Maka immediately pushed forward trying to take control I could see from a distance 3 rogue wolves and Razor barreling towards the biggest rogue I looked up just as I heard one of the women yell “Raz get your a*s back to the house. I swear if you get eaten I will kill you myself.” Just Before she broke out into a run pulled out her crossbow aimed and shot. The other two women followed suit aiming at the other rogue wolves and did the same.

The bow hit the wolf’s neck and slow him down enough to allow her to scoop Razor up Credle him just as the wolf recovered and swiped at her left arm that held Razor, the rogue immediately yanked his paw away as if he’d just got burned when I saw his paw smoking she screamed out but managed to pull a knife out of no where with her right hand and stabbed the rogue wolf in his neck. As we got closer to them that smell hit me square in the chest that caused me to stumble and Maka roared “MINE!”

I let out a roar that shooked the ground and sprinted trying to get to my human mate. God damnit my mate is human. She tucked Razor into her shirt to free up her hands. The wolf was dying but not dead so when he got back up shook his head and then with every ounce of his remaining strength he hit my mate so hard she grunted loudly from the blow, curled her body around Razor at the last second as she hit the tree with a thud.

I grabbed the rogue wolf by the neck before he could reach my mate wanting to finish her off. I let Maka come forward enough to rip his head from his body. I could see Shadow and Montago making quick work of the other two rogues as I rushed over to my mate. Her arm was bleeding badly I needed to get her to the pack doctor before she dies. I lift her easily into my arm frantic moving her braids from her face. She had the most perfectly smooth milk chocolate skin full lips that looked like they were soft like clouds. “Hey baby wake up please wake up for me come on open your eyes and look at me please. You can’t die especially when I don’t even know your name.” I whispered about to go into a full blown melt down.

I could hear Razor whimpering still hiding in her shirt. “Hey Razor buddy you can come out now it’s safe.” I said lifting her shirt careful to not expose her to Shadow nor Montago. Montago scooped Razor up into his arms and squat beside me. Both of her cousins were shaking like a leaf and in shock even though they almost single handedly taken out 3 wolves by themselves. I would be impressed if I wasnt scared half to death that my mate could have been killed. Once this was over I’m locking her a*s in my house and she is never to do something like this again I thought angrily.

I could see Shadow slowly approaching one of the women who look like she wanted to bolt but I guess she figured he was ok since he damn near ripped the wolf she was fighting neck off. His wolf was checking her for injuries but she was trying to push him off which he completely ignored by growling in warning and she immediately froze as he continued to check to see if she was hurt. Lost in thought still trying to wake up the woman in my arms I barely heard Montago “Alpha your hand.” Montago said Stepping back. Huh what about my hand I looked down and notice that my hand was burning where her b***d dripped on me. I yanked my hand away but didn’t let her go. “What the hell is that? ” I yelled wide eyed. “I don’t know but we better get her to the pack doctor to find out. Because that’s some freaky shit.” Montago said putting even more distance between us as Razor was squirming trying to get back to my mate. but Montago held him firmly.

Just then the other two came running over. “Oh my God Ji’lahni please wake up you better wake your a*s up if you die I swear I will never forgive you!” They cried. The women all favored each other you could tell they were family. “Hey she’s going to be find I’m going to take her to our doctor. he’s the best in the state. But I have to hurry. you guys go change out of those bloody clothes and my Beta will escort you both to the hospital once you’ve cleaned up I promise she will be fine nothing is going to happen to her.” I said lifting her into my arms and hissed when more of her b***d burned me. I didnt know what the hell is going on but I needed answers. “Mine” my wolf said worriedly he was just as afraid as I was of losing our mate. Ji’lahni is what her cousins called her. It was a beautiful name for a beautiful woman. I squeezed her closer to me but let go a little when she g*****d. At least she was still breathing.

Bursting through the pack hospital the doctor saw me and immediately stopped what he was doing and let the nurse take over with one of my men. “This way alpha is she breathing what happen?” he asked going into a room I laid her on the gurney but held her uninjured hand. “Rogue attacked it sliced her arm open and knocked her into a tree. She was trying to protect Razor. Once she hit the tree, she passed out. And doc her b***d burns us.” I said just as the doctor back up away from her. “Wha- what do you mean burn us.” He asked. I lift my hand where her b***d dripped it was healing but you can still see what happened.

“I have never seen anything like it. I will have to test her b***d once I get her stable my gloves should protect my skin from her b***d maybe you should put some gloves on to so you want burn yourself again alpha.” He said grabbing gloves and scissors. “No.” I growled I refuse to let go of her hand and not be able to feel her skin. The doctor cut her sleeve to see her wound. He touched her skin and I growled at the doctor. Shocked he looked at me wide eyed and confused. “Alpha I have to touch her to-to make sure everything is alright before I stitch her up. Can I touch her?” He asked clearly shaking up. I nodded I didn’t like him touching her but I know he needed to do it to make her better.

She hadn’t opened her eyes yet I couldn’t wait to look into the eyes of my mate I can’t explain the overwhelming feelings that were hitting me. It’s like when I found her the emptiness wolves always feel without their mate seemed to have clicked into place as soon as we saw her. From outside I hear shouting right before I see little Razor burst through the door with Montago hot on his heels. He had shifted back to the little Grey eyed boy. For a 5 year old really tiny and he was pretty smart and fast from the looks of Montago who look like he just ran a marathon.

What’s going on I look between him and Montago as Razor hid behind my chair. “That little s**t bit me and ran he wanted to see the human and I wouldn’t let him.” Montago said angrily pointing at Razor who was looking guilty. “I just wanted to make sure walahni was OK. He looked sadly. “She’s gonna be just fine the doctor is fixing her up now. Why don’t you go back out with Montago and I’ll come get you once the doc is finished ok.”

“Noooo can I please stay for a wittle while?” Razor cried Looking at me whimpering. I couldn’t fault him for wanting to be near her because I felt the same way. “OK you can stay for a few minutes but after that you have to go back out with Montago. Deal?” “Deal.” Razor responded allowing me to pick him up and sit him in the chair I was just in. “I’m going out in the hallway to speak with Montago for a few minutes you behave and don’t touch any of her b***d.” I said sternly. Razor nodded his little head in agreement as he climbed on the bed and curled up next to Ji’lahni rubbing her head in order to comfort her he was whispering in her ear but I couldn’t hear what he said even with my wolf ears.

Stepping out into the lobby. “Where are her cousins I thought they were coming with you? I asked “they were but Shadow showed up and said he would bring them in to get checked out to make sure they were OK. He seemed to be a little frazzled and thats not like him. Come to think of it you look like he do. What’s going on with you?” Montago asked me suspiciously. Raking my hand through my hair taking a deep breathe not really understanding any of this s**t right now. My wolf thinks this woman is my mate hell my body thinks this as well but it can’t be, wolves don’t have human mates. It’s unheard of and isn’t possible because our DNA make up is no match with any human. they wouldn’t survive the mating or marking that we go through. But my wolf is ignoring all that and is insisting that she is my mate. Facing Montago “she’s my mate.” I answered. “That’s impossible she’s human there has never been a mating between us and humans… you must have gotten it wrong.. maybe you’re in shock and thought you smelled that scent on her.”

Montago said clearly thinking the same thing that I was that there is no way she’s my mate. “You don’t think I know that my brain is saying no but my body and my wolf seems to be craving her craving to be near her to touch her to protect her with my life. I’m hoping it is a mistake and some type of mix up I don’t know. But for right now I have to be with her.” I said losing the battle to try and distance myself from her. I came out here hoping that the effects of wanting to be near her would diminish but it isn’t my wolf is actually clawing at my subconscious trying to be near her. It’s taking all my strength to reign him in and keep him locked away.

Just then I hear the hospital doors crashing open and my mates family comes running in heading to the front desk but sees me and Montago and run straight to us with Shadow right behind them. They’re both bombarding me with so many questions talking all at once not giving me a chance to answer them. “OK ok calm down the doctor is patching her up now she is still unconscious but he doesn’t think it is life threatening but he is going to run some test and make sure she is fine.

Let’s just have a seat and wait for the the doctor to come out.” I Said leading them to two empty seats in the lobby Shadow sat down in one of the empty seats and pulled one of the women onto his lap. Everyone was shocked silent because Shadow was anything but gentle or nice and has never showed interest in any female after his mate die. Hell even the woman was shocked but she didn’t say anything and didn’t try to move either. Dismissing the thought. I needed to get back into the room with Ji’lahni because I couldn’t fight the urge to be near her any longer.

I walked back into the room and Razor was sitting in the same position on her pillow still rubbing her head in comfort keeping a trained eye on the doctor to make sure he isn’t hurting her. I smile because Razor acted like he was mated to her like me. “Hey buddy. It’s time to go back and let the doctor finish making her better. I promise I will let you comeback when he’s done. But you know you have to shift back before she wakes up and you need to shift now because her cousins are outside in the lobby really upset maybe you can try and make them feel better.” I said as I lift him off the bed and placed him on the floor so he could shift. Little ones rarely remember to take their clothes off before they shift.

Once he shifted I open the door he ran directly to the girls and they immediately lifted him up and gave him tight hugs and scolded him for scaring them half to death when he tried to fight the rogue wolf. Turning back to the bed that held my mate I sat down next to her and grabbed her hand in mine and gently kissed every one of her fingers needing her scent to calm my nerves.”You really have to wake up sweetheart I really need to see your eyes and hear you speak. I’m going a little crazy over here.” I whispered to her as the doctor and nurses finished stitching her up.

“Uh Alpha the scratch is really deep, she has several cracked ribs, she has a big knot on the back of her head so we will run test to make sure there is no brain injury, and we’ve stitched up her arm it would be so much easier if she were a wolf then she would heal on her own. If she was mated to a wolf then he could heal her. But since she’s not and she’s human we could only stitch her up the best we could it should leave minimal scarring I sent one of my staff to the next town to get something for her pain and some antibiotics so her arm won’t get infected, I drew b***d and had it sent to the lab for testing. She will be in a great deal of pain until we get the pain medicine. Which might take a couple of days. That nasty bump on the back of her head also explains why she’s still unconscious. Her body just needs to rest and recharge then she should wake up. Once she is awake and alert she can go back to their house she need complete bedrest no stress or loud noises because she will feel 10 times worse then a person with a hangover so almost any sound will sound like yelling.”

The doctor finished giving me the run down. Before walking out leaving me alone for the first time with the woman that had been torchoring me since she first got here. She looked so peaceful even though she just took on a 400 pound feral wolf. I couldn’t be prouder that she held her own but I was pissed that she even tried something crazy like that. I sat there starring at her beautiful face until I heard a commotion outside the doors and immediately got pissed when it seems the even unconscious loud noises hurt my mate.

Getting up storming out the door to see Summer trying to get pass Montago to get to me. “Let me go Montago my mate is in there I need to know if he’s hurt.” Summer sneered just then she looked up seeing me, she broke away from Montago and wrapped herself around me and my wolf actually growled in disgust peeling her arms from around me. “Summer please keep it down patients are trying to rest.” I said trying to put some distance between us but she wasn’t having it. “Baby are you OK they said you had to save Razor because those nasty women took him with them and you had to save them and Razor.

Then you had to carry one of them here and I heard they were fat so I’m sure you hurt yourself trying to carry her here. You should have let 3 of the guards do it. I told you I thought it was a bad idea for your mother to invite them here to plan our mating. Hopefully she will send them back where they came from, now that she sees that they’ve only been here 2 days and they kidnapped my cousins pup and now we’re being attacked by rogue wolve.” Summer whined angrily as she leaned close to me.

“Um cuz please tell me this b***h didn’t just call my cousin fat?” The cousin who was sitting on Shadow ask the other. They both snapped their neck toward Summer. “Nah she not stupid. She don’t know her or us to feel comfortable enough to talk about us.” The other one said in response.

Summer turned toward them glaring as she spotted Razor cuddle up next the the girls. She spinned and March towards them and they immediately got up only then did I notice that they were strapped looking like Tomb Raiders like they werent taking any more chances to be caught off guard..Shadow tried to hold his woman back but she just snapped a look that had him throwing up his hands. I tried step between them before they came to blows. “Give me my cousin’s pup. How dare you kidnap him and put him in danger.” Summer sneered.

“First and most important nobody kidnapped him he wanted to be with my cousin and she actually risked her life to save him which is why she is laying in that hospital bed and by the looks of it Raz doesn’t want to go with you.” Shadow’s woman said smartly. As Razor tucked himself into a ball away from Summer. “How dare you speak to me like that! I hope you know my mother n law is going to make sure you’re out of here as soon as I tell her about this.” Summer yelled.

“You don’t need to tell me anything I heard it for myself and trust me I won’t be sending them anywhere so you better get use to it. And by the way I took Razor with me so if you want to accuse someone of kidnapping then accuse me.” My mother said coming to stand directly in front of Summer and I can see my father standing by the girls with his arm around them comforting them. Summer quickly changed her tone. “Mom I didn’t mean it like that I’m just upset that Razor almost got hurt. I wouldn’t dare accuse you of kidnapping.” Summer studdered.

“it’s Luna to you now can you please leave so I can check on my girls to make sure they’re OK and your causing a scene. Mother stepped pass her dismissing her immediately as Montago grabbed her arm pulling her back as she was trying to still defend her actions. “Son how is she? is she OK? I knew I shouldn’t have let them out of my sight.” My mother said turning back to hug the girls close crying silently. “Mother you can’t blame yourself I should have had more guards covering the borders. I don’t know how they were able to get past our motion detectors and guards.” I said determine to make whoever was behind this pay for hurting my mate.

“Mother yall can go in to see her for a few minutes. But you have to be quiet she will be in a lot of pain because she hit her head and the doctor said loud noises will be painful for her she has some cracked ribs and they stitched her arm up. But she will be just fine. She’s still on conscious but when her body rest a little while from the trauma she will wake up.” I said to her family and my parents they all gasped as I repeated what the doctor told me. Extending my hand towards her cousins. “I don’t think we’ve met I’m Alpha Makahi the owner here and son of Luna Lateri. I wish we could have met under different circumstances.” I said introducing myself. “Hi I’m Mina and this is Shawna and my cousin in the back is Ji’lahni.” Mina said shaking my hand before Shawna shook my hand as well. “If you’ll follow me I’ll take you to see your cousin. “Wait Kahi what about me you’re just going to leave me out here alone?”

Summer said grabbing my arm as I passed by. I stopped turning to her not really feeling like dealing with her right now because of the need to see my mat-…. I mean Ji’lahni was making my patience short. “I have to handle this let Montago take you back to your place and I’ll come see you later. I said shrugging her hands off my arm. She gasped like I slapped her but immediately glared at Mina and Shawna as they snickered. “Hey give me Razor so I can leave.” she tried to grabbed the pup from Shawna but Razor immediately shrank away from her. Patting her hand .”How about I’ll bring him by a little later Montago please see miss Summer to her home safely. ” My father said returning her to Montago.

Entering the room my mother and the girls ran to the bed silently crying and checking her over to make sure she was comfortable. My mother as always making a fuss about every little thing the nurses were currently running out of the room to fetch more blankets and pillows because mother said it was freezing in here. Razor took up residence right back next to her head and curled himself into a tight ball of black fur next to her.

Standing behind my mother “mother can I talk to you and dad for a moment outside.” “Right now son? Can it wait?” My mother not wanting to leave Ji’lahni side. “Yes it’s important it will only take a moment.” I said. she nodding her head letting go of Ji’lahni hand reluctantly and followed me out the door into the lobby again. “Well what is it son? What’s so important that it couldn’t wait?” My mother asked concerned.” Taking a deep breath I decided not to tell them about Ji’lahni possibly being my mate. Because quite honestly I didn’t know for sure how it was possible and I dont truly believe it myself. But they needed to know about her b***d.

“Mom when they were attacked the rogue managed to swipe her arm before she stabbed him in the throat. But when he did he immediately recoiled as if she burned him somehow. I didn’t think nothing of it at the time but when her b***d dripped on me it burned. Apparently her b***d burns us. The doctor is testing her b***d to see what it could be. But until then you have to be careful and if you must touch her you need to wear gloves ok.” I finished “What son what do you mean her b***d burns us you mean wolves? How is that possible could it be that the rogue had some type of disease may be he gave her something.” My father said clearly just as confused as I was. “No it wasn’t the rogue I came into contact with his b***d when I ripped his throat out it did nothing to me only her b***d did. Like I said the doctor is running test but it will be a few days before we know anything.

And she will be in a lot of pain because we don’t have anything for pain that’s strong enough here. we mostly heal on our own and our pups only need mild pain medicine. So once she’s released I’ll have her moved to my place where she can be in complete silence and her cousins should stay with you until we can find out how the rogues got pass our borders. We need to keep them safe and protected.” My wolf growled angrily which caused my mother to gasped and stepped back shocked at my sudden anger and I know my eyes changed from brown to green which shows that maka had come forward. My father eyed me suspiciously I didn’t dare meet his gaze because I didn’t want to answer or explained why I’m losing control of Maka. Nodding in agreement my parents rushed back go back into the room to dote on my mate.

I Decided to give them some time which I could also use to clear my head I hadn’t shift in 48 hours and Maka was getting restless and angry being away from my mate. I decided to mind link Montago to join me for a run. I don’t know why but I decided I wanted to run west tonight. Maka obviously knew why and smiled happily at the possibility of her scent still being in the area from earlier. I run through the woods howling accepting that the fragile human is our mate.
