The Alphas’ P**n Star Mate -
Chapter 51 – The Alphas’ Porn Star Mate
Mick was quiet, quieter than ever while we showered. I tried to give him space, sensing his mood was more off than before and feeling guilty about my dream and the thoughts creeping into my mind about his brother, but he insisted I stay with him. I was still washing my hair, scrubbing all the slobber out of it as he stood under the water stream when he pulled me closer to him. I closed my eyes and leaned into his touch as he finished the job for me, rinsing my hair clean, then turning my body to face him.
"You okay?" I asked, not knowing what else to say. I could sense his unease and his worry, but didn't know where it was coming from. His grandma's chaotic entrance into his bedroom? His return to his pack?.... Or was he sensing my wayward thoughts towards his brother? "Are you okay?" he turned the question around to me, softly stroking my face. "Are you ready to run for the hills after that? The offer still stands. We can still run away. Just you and me."
I smiled shyly. "Your nonna was quite the wake-up call." I turned my face and kissed his palm, then wrapped my arms around his middle. "She seems to have missed you a lot. Poor nonna might hunt us down if I steal you away all to myself."
A bashful smile lifted his face, pulling at his pouty lips. "She's quite the woman."
"I could see that," I giggled. He smiled with me, resting his head against mine. I soaked in the moment for a few seconds before I said, "Your family missed you, Mick. I don't think we should leave. At least for now." It would be cruel to take Mick away from here, when his brother and his grandma clearly missed him so greatly. We have Cameron most likely after me, and all our family from Broom StiXXX coming too. We can't leave, and I can't be the reason he leaves the people that missed him so much.
....And I also can't leave; not when I have such conflicting feelings towards Miles. I don't know whether it is from Cortina's meddling, planting thoughts in my head, or the bond is just pulling at me stronger today. I just know that leaving here like this would be physically painful. Not just for me, but I think it would be painful for Mick as well. He clearly has a family that loves him. No matter what happened in the past or why he left, they want him here. They seem desperate to have him home where he belongs. "I just don't want to lose you, Chloe. I know you don't want an Alpha mate or a pack again. My nonna can be....pushy."
"You won't lose me," I combed my fingers through the silky hairs on the top of his neck. A smile was creeping on my face. "I have never seen a she-wolf like her before." I was actually a bit excited about seeing her again. Not a bit. I was thrilled to see how she would act in human form at breakfast.
"She's one of a kind," he chuckled. "Just like you."
He tenderly kissed my lips, the sparks moving through our bodies as we held each other in the shower. It was intimate, but not sexual. He was taking comfort in me, soothing his anxieties, and I was connecting with him, letting his presence flow over me like the water of the shower. "You're my miracle, Chloe," he whispered.
I gave him a sly grin. "Say it the other way."
His deep, throaty laughter filled the small, steamy room. "Miracolo mia," he hummed. "Cara mia."
"Mmh, you have no idea how sexy that is."
He chuckled. "I will thank my nonna for forcing us to learn her mother tongue later."
Mick left the bathroom to gather clothes for us. With the door busted, he didn't want to chance someone seeing me naked, so I stayed in the bathroom and brushed through my hair. Thousands of people around the world have seen me naked, but Mick still wasn't okay with allowing anyone here to see me, it seems. If it made him feel better during his time of unease, I was fine with complying. When we were both dressed and ready to go down, I could feel Mick's anxiety rising again.
"Hey," I pulled him towards me before we headed out of his room. Even as we were standing on the shards of his bedroom door, my touch as I wrapped my arms around him had the desired effect still. I could feel his tension leaving as I swayed us gently in place. "I'll protect you from your nonna's slobbery kisses, the gamma's junk defiling your sexy body, and even fight off Boyd if I need to. I'm your mate, and I'm here for you no matter what." I pushed up on my toes to plant a soft peck on his lips. "Use me when you feel anxious. I'm here for you." "Thank you," he gave me a crooked smile, placing a kiss on the end of my nose. "Cara mia."
"Mmh, yes," I giggled. "You keep talking like that and I'll make you use me in other ways as soon as breakfast is over."
"Now you have me curious about what these other ways are," he chuckled, leaning in to whisper seductively in my ear, "Cara mia."
I groaned, biting back a smile. "You're going to twist me like a pretzel and take your time unwinding me." I smacked his ass playfully, then squealed when he growled and chased me out of his room. The chase continued downstairs, all the way to the kitchen of the pack house where he cornered me against a counter, pinning me between his arms.
"I'm suddenly starving for a pretzel," he husked darkly against my skin.
"How about some pancakes and eggs first, son?" a gravelly, deep voice surprised both of us, coming from the far end of the kitchen.
A tall man with deep shadows under his blue eyes and hollowed cheeks was standing in the double doorway of the dining room. I'm certain the door was closed when we came down. We must have been so lost in our game of chase that we didn't notice it opening and the audience we now had.
The man looked sickly, but still stood menacingly tall with an unsettling aura, his thick brows pulled down with a scowl on his face. Mick's body went tense and rigid, his anger flaring and reaching me through the bond. I didn't know who this man was, but Mick clearly did and he wasn't thrilled to see him. I tried to push my way in front of him but Mick flexed his hands on my waist and held me in place.
My eyes connected with Miles, who was just standing at his feet in the dining room with a concerned look on his face. There were dozens of other faces, three that were much more familiar than anyone else's, but it was Miles that my eyes sought in search of backup for my mate. Mick felt like he was teetering on the edge between rage and a nervous breakdown. I didn't want him to fall to either side of that tightrope. Miles looked worried for the same reasons. "Father," Mick said stiffly. He looked his father up and down, his emotions going even more heywire.
"Mick," a woman came up beside the tall, sickly man, her eyes watering as she pressed her hands to her chest. She had strikingly blonde hair, whereas the man that must be Mick and Miles's father had black, balding hair, a peppering of gray littered through it. "My boy," the woman cried softly, taking a step forward with her arms wide, meaning to hug him. "You're finally home."
Mick took a step back, making me take a step back with him. The woman froze seeing Mick's movement. Her bottom lip quivered, and I could see the resemblance to Mick and his pouty lips. This must be his mother.
My hackles were raised instantly. No matter how affectionate Miles and Nonna were to Mick, his parents seemed like your typical Alpha pairing; the stiff, authoritative Alpha with his emotional, self-concerned Luna. Flashbacks to Cameron's parents started to fill my head. Cortina was on alert too. "Sit down, you two numskulls," Nonna came up behind the two, smacking their father on the back with a sharp slap. "You scare my grandson off again, you will be answering to me."
