Chapter 63 – The Alphas’ Porn Star Mate

"Dare, calm the fuck down. This is his pack," Dave tried to reason with the angry grizzly, but every word he was saying fell to deaf ears. Mate, Billy had said.

Would a werebear share their mate? I had never heard of such a thing before. They are territorial. We used to read in history books about clans and tribal chiefs going to war over fated mates taking a chosen before them. If Taylor were both of their mates, this could be a shitstorm. "Just let him go," Jamie said. "This shit will sort itself out in seconds." He was eyeing Billy like he didn't think he was a match for Darren.

This pissed me off. I may not know him as well as Darren, but Billy was my mates' Gamma and a close friend. I didn't want to see him hurt any more than I wanted to see Darren hurt. Cortina snapped her jaws at Jamie, daring him to fuck off. She was pissed for Billy's sake too. I suddenly realized that was why she was so fast to react. She was naturally acting like a warrior Luna, protecting a member of her pack. I felt that in her now. Her sense of duty and responsibility.

Damn it.

Even if I wasn't there yet, at a place I could accept all these changes and revelations, Cortina was. My wolf was ready to step into the role as Luna in the heat of the moment, and I went right along with her. What if she took over and claimed Miles before I was ready? Would I ever be ready like she is to be a Luna again?

Billy snarled again, trying to get past Mick, who somehow issued a command that worked to get him to stand down. Then, Darren took another try at getting past Dave and me to Billy, Taylor still gripping tightly to his shirt.

Shit, I have no fucking time to worry about whether I can be a Luna or not. These two are going to kill each other and then our plans for staying in this pack will be ruined, as well as several lives and relationships. I can't let that happen. Then I felt him. Miles. He was suddenly right there, standing next to his Beta, trying to figure out what was going on.

We all were, but this was his pack. If he wanted to kick Darren off his pack's land and let Billy claim Taylor, we would be hard pressed to stop it. After seeing the way he ran the pack, I didn't think he would do that, but I was still concerned. "Let them be," Rodger stepped up and said as calmly as could be.

"Yes! Two grand on Dare Bear," Jamie said excitedly.

"I don't know, man. I saw the Gamma at training this morning," Beau folded his arms, equally ready to see a fight.

"Step aside, Cortina. Mick," Rodger said. Cortina gave him an incredulous look, but Rodger just smiled. "It will be fine."

"I would rather there not be fighting upon our first meeting in my pack," Miles said, stepping forward. "I think I should take my Gamma aside, and you take your bear friend here and we can figure this out after everyone calms down. Waiting to see who comes out the loser of this fight isn't the answer."

"There will be no loser," Rodger said. "Everyone will be a winner here. You will see. Now, everyone, step back." He then looked at Taylor. "You too for now, my dear."

Taylor, to my surprise, bit her lip and nodded, taking a step back, letting go of Darren.

"What do I do?" Cortina asked me. She didn't want either of them to get hurt.

Cortina gave Rodger one more look and gave her a nod of encouragement. "It will be okay."

"Trust him," I told her. "He must see something we don't."

"Okay," Cortina said warily, standing to her full height from her crouched stance and slowly moving away from the center of the two men. Mick followed half a second behind, pulling his shirt off and handing it to me after I shifted back. We stood by Miles, waiting for the shit storm that was sure to happen at any moment.

Dave was a lot less willing to move. He didn't want Riley to see their close friend in a gruesome fight. Or maybe it was that authoritative air I've been sensing more and more in him recently that was making it hard for him to trust that this would be okay, as Rodger claimed. After a few seconds, Dave relented and let Darren pass to come face to face with Billy. All of us are holding our breath, waiting for the shoe to drop.

Darren was so much taller than Billy, though they were similar in build. Darren got so close to Billy that their chests were almost touching. The glaze over Darren's eyes made my hair stand on end. I was intimidated, but Billy didn't seem to be. Billy stared up into Darren's crazed eyes, growls deeply rumbling in Billy's chest. Darren's nostrils flared as he brought his hands up to Billy's neck. I thought he was about to strangle Billy, but I gasped, fully surprised at what he did instead.

"Well, I'll be," Miles huffed, a smile in his surprised tone.

Darren had gently cupped Billy's face, angling his head as he brought his lips down to Billy's. Billy was grasping Darren's upper arms, clinging to him like he never wanted him to let go. Darren was dominating the kiss, and Billy was letting him. It was fascinating to see the passion already there.

"All that huffing and puffing for this?" Jamie looked displeased. "Beau, make out with me too. I'm feeling left out."

"Shut up, you idiots," Cindy said, slapping Jamie on the chest, then staring back at Darren and Billy like they were a live action chick flick. He smiled and sighed with contentment.

"They're mates," I whispered. I was still having a hard time believing it.

"What about her?" Miles asked quietly, almost whispering the question in my ear. His close proximity and breath made sparks burst on my neck. His scent with Mick's in the air around me had me and Cortina fully relaxed.

"I don't think she is excluded in this," I grinned.

Billy somehow managed to break away from Darren's lips, gasping for air as his eyes searched for Taylor. Taylor smiled hesitantly back at him.

"Go on, you lucky hussy," Riley pushed Taylor forward. "Two for the price of one. Go make a sandwich."

Taylor slowly approached Darren and Billy. Billy's eyes were on Taylor, wide and wanting, and Darren continued to stare down at Billy, holding his shoulders and taking in every detail like he was trying to commit his second mate's face to memory.

When Taylor got to them, Billy reached out and pulled her between them, burying his face in her neck. She gasped loudly when his nose skimmed over her bear print marking. Her gasp made Billy growl needily and Darren's eyes looked more wild. Darren looked ready to fuck both of them on the packhouse lawn.

"This would be the perfect time for mom to come out," Mick leaned over and muttered to Miles. Miles snorted in response.

"Take them to your room, Billy. Dez and I can handle shit for a few days. I'll get you three one of the larger apartments fixed up and ready by the time you're....done," Miles said, an air of amusement in his tone.

Billy gave a thumbs up, then went back to suckling on Taylor's neck while Darren started pawing at Billy's body, sniffing his skin.

"Billy is not going to be able to walk for days," I laughed when they disappeared into the packhouse. "Taylor either."

"You were right," Emily laughed at me.

"You were too! Taylor was an innocent little human sweetheart up until a few days ago."

"Yeah, but your bear friend looks like the dominant but caring type."

"He is," me, Kai, Winnie, and even Lenny said at the same time, making Emily burst into a fit of giggles. Her mate looked mortified at the unified reaction.

"Two for one seems to be the theme for everyone lately," Dave joked with Riley because of his earlier statement.

"Maybe I have a second mate out there," Riley teased him with a smirk.

Dave growled possessively, grabbing Riley's middle and pulling him close while staring him down. Riley wasn't intimidated at all and just chuckled.

"Two for one," Cortina snorted. "You should follow their example and take both gifts you have been given. You can enjoy not walking for days too."

"Shut your trap," I snapped. I still looked at Miles out of the corner of my eye, noticing he was watching me and my reactions. I couldn't help the blush that creeped over my skin.
