Chapter 33

I get out of the car and already Rhodes, Meredith, and Arabella are waiting for me at the entrance. They are smiling and I return it.

Ara takes my bag." How was your first day," They are asking so many questions at once.

"It was alright," I laugh thinking about how great my day was. Someone opens the door and we enter the house. I'm surprised to find jasper, Enol, and my Rayan are in the main room. They were chatting but stood up when they noticed me. "How was your day?" Enol asks with a smile.

"It was great!" I answer as I go to Rayan's side. He kisses me on the lips, again and I blush a little when we pull away.

" Wow, okay. I see the future Queen," Jasper says. He is gently smiling while the ladies giggle before exiting the room.

After exchanging a few words, we take our seats but surprisingly, Rayan pulls me in his lap. He doesn't even care that his brothers are watching us.

It's useless to fight him now so all I do is rest my back against his front. His hand is softly caressing hair and I can just sleep.

They are discussing the packs when I think about mine.

" Can you evoke an Alpha's position?" I ask suddenly. They all go quiet, my eyes are closed but I can feel their eyes burning my skin.

"Can you or not?" I repeat the question.

"Um, princess, yes we can but there have to be solid reasons?" It's Jasper who answers.

I notice they are calling me princess, Rayan and I aren't even engaged, so that title isn't mine yet.

"What kind?"

"Failing in duty, crimes, mental stability and embezzlement of funds and so much,"

"Oh okay. Is there another way?" I ask and face jasper. He squints his eyes, his eyes travel between his brothers before answering.

"A challenge, that's how they settled matters regarding leadership long ago,"

I nod. Rayan's hand has frozen in my hair just like the rest of him.

"Why do you ask?" Enol asks, I get off Rayan's lap and face them.

"Well, I don't want Josh to have full control of the pride pack," I say it. A chill goes down my spine. Rayan's eyes are intense and hot on my body.

"But the only person who has part control in the leading of the pack is a pack Luna," jasper informs me, his look is scrutinizing and he's not wearing his usual gentle smile.

"I want to see Josh, I can't leave what my father built to rest in his hands alone,"

Rayan gets to his feet and snort.

"What do you mean?"

"Just that, my father made a mistake to leave him the title. I want it back,"

Rayan's expression is changing to anger now.

"Your father? You led your father to do that because you were so madly in love with the beta!"

I squint my eyes, where is all this coming from? He's pacing about the room now.

I turn to Jasper who's warily looking at his elder brother.

Rayan marches towards me and looks Into my eyes.

"Do you want him back? Are you going to leave me?"

"No, I was indeed in love but he cheated on me and I'm over him," I shout, I don't know why I'm suddenly getting upset. How can he even think I want Josh?

"Yes, you almost ended your life for that man, now you're talking about a possible meeting? Or even getting back with him,"

I roll my eyes, men, is he seriously jealous that I'll meet Josh? He completely misunderstood my words. I will inevitably do when I take back my title.

I put a hand on his shoulder and he turns to me.

"I don't love Josh anymore, Derek said he's screwing up the position," I take a deep breath and open my mouth to say " I want to be affiliated to the pride pack, I want to have a say in matters there. I know I didn't shift but this is my parents' pack we are talking about," I explain. Rayan once told me that leading the wolves is his duty and I feel the same way, I can't be all the way here not having any decisions while Crystal and Josh enjoy what my father worked for.

"It's my duty,"

"And you will once you're my Queen," he says softly. I shake my head. I don't want people to think me weak that I needed the Royal family in my corner before taking back my position plus the council have to approve on such matters if it involves them.

For those who don't know, basically, the council is also known as the court, it consists of Alpha elders from most powerful packs, high judge, the king's secretary, general, the senators, the royal councilors and ministers, they make the rules and assist the royal family to run the wolf race smoothly.

The royal family has more power than the court and have the last word however, it's not a dictatorship rule so they vote on most things.

"No Rayan, the tabloids will accuse you of abusing your power and position, I need to do this alone, without the involvement of the royal family," I explain, he sighs, seemingly calm now.

"Princess, the beta's alpha records are clean,"

"How do you know that?" I narrow my gaze on Enol. He shrugs

"Well, I was just curious to find out about the man who hurt you so much so I decided to investigate him," Rayan growls and the youngest prince puts his hands up in surrender.

After resolving our minor disagreement. We discuss strategy.

"How will you do it?" Asks Enol. I shrug. I don't want Josh to have sore ownership of the pack and company.

"Lavigne group is affiliated to the pack so the beta alpha has a say in it, but you still own 55% share that makes you the owner," Rayan explains. He seems so fluent in business. I'm watching him talk about matters I don't understand, his brother Jasper is listening attentively and adding while Enol and I are looking dumbfounded.

"If she had a wolf, the challenge would be easier, she already has grounds for it," Jasper says.

Rayan is looking sullen, drinking his whiskey. I get the glass from him. They look at me surprised as I gulp the hard liquor. I hit my chest and pace around the room, how do people drink this? It's so bitter and it burns.

Enol chuckles and so does his brother... Rayan pats my back gently.

"Are you alright?" He inquires, holding a laugh.

"Alcohol is bad," Enol laughs

Rayan looks at me seriously now.

"If you want the pack under your control, we have to find someone to challenge him,"

I sigh and plop into my seat. He sits next to me. I hate it when someone fights my battles for me and honestly, I feel like if someone should strip Josh out of his position, is me.

"Do you have anyone in mind, already the pack says he's incompetent in finding the rogues who were attacking, and delivering the justice people want badly," Rogues have attacked the pride pack but the leaders haven't been caught yet and the members want justice for the death of their Alpha, gamma, and several members.

I was sixteen when the rogues attacked and killed my mom. Dad hunted them down until within a week and killed them mercilessly. The rogues especially their leaders died a horrid death.

"Princess?" Jasper's voice breaks me away from my thoughts. They are looking at me.

"Maybe Derek, and Bradley," I suggest. Both of them are strong and they hate josh, but unfortunately, they have no alpha blood in their veins while josh, doesn't too but he has the alpha command he got from Dad.

"Are they from an alpha bloodline?"

I shake my eyes and cover my face with my hands.

"Well, I don't think-"

"I know they can't," I snap.

I breathe in " I want to train and get stronger, I want to challenge Josh," I announce.

Enol and jasper look surprised, while Rayan's continues to change from shock to disbelieve. After a long silence, he growls.

"Then I'll kill him first,"

"Or I can, I mean I can end it quicker," Enol is confident and arrogant but I know he can do it. I pay attention when he talks about Josh. He talks with so much anger. I smile a little knowing that he is doing that because josh hurt me. He considers me family. "You both shut up, if anyone should end his wretched existence, it should be me," I'm surprised by Jasper's words, he takes about death so casually as though ending a life is no big deal.

They are bickering about who should do it until I shout,

"You will do no such thing, Rayan, any of you," I glare at them.

"I will do as I want and none of you will get involved, it's my pack, my fight," my voice is firm.

"I'm not letting you train, Lucy," Rayan says seriously. I squint my eyes.

"And just who told you I'm asking for permission? I'm a grown woman capable of making my own decisions,"

"Lucy, you're my princess, this Kingdom's future Queen," he all but growls.

"Don't growl at me!" I yell, hitting his torso, I hiss at the pain that courses through my arm especially my wrist.

He grabs me and sits me down next to him and inspect my wrist with a frown. Looking at him like this makes me forget we were screaming at each a few seconds ago.

"You're so strong," he whispers.

"And delicate too,"

He kisses my wrist.

"Brother, I think it's a good idea to let her train so that she can get stronger," Jasper says. Rayan snorts.

"She can fight the beta without a wolf," Enol supports. My dad used to train me. I even have a black belt in martial arts but I was young, once I hit sixteen and lost mom, I lost interest in most activities. My only focus was school. "Over my dead body am I letting her fight a wolf," Rayan is growling. I hold his chest.

"She needs this for her protection too,"

"I can protect her," Rayan is so stubborn.

"I know you can but you're not always here," I try to reason with him, but he's not having it.

"Then you'll travel with me and stay by my side,"

I exhale and rub my forehead. Even Jasper slumps into a couch.

I'm smiling and being very patient with this big baby boy but he's being unreasonable!

"I have a life," the words are calm. But when he continues to argue, I lose my patience

"Look here Rayan Altamonte. I may be your girlfriend but you don't own my life, I can do as I please," I snap, he looks taken aback and raises his eyebrows.

"Brother, she's right," Enol shrugs, and I nod my support. Rayan sighs it's three against one and I know we win.

"Fine, but you will train with either me, Enol, or Jasper," I smile and wrap my arms around him excitedly. I kiss his lips.

"Good, Let's make you a fighter and kick that beta's a*s,"

Jasper winks. His eyes suddenly lit up as if remembering something.

"Brother, have you noticed that Lucille's wolf is surfacing? I can smell her,"

"Yes, me too. Maybe all she needs is proper training and her wolf will be strong enough to shift!" Enol says, he looks excited, I glance at Rayan, he is in deep thoughts. "Lucy, have your blood been tested?" he suddenly asks.

"Yes, my parents did when I was thirteen and later when I was sixteen," I sigh

"What did the hematologist say?" He asks, jasper looks very interested. His eyes and attention are focused on me.

"Well, that I didn't have the werewolf gene,"

"What else?"

"Nothing"

"Hmm, how strange. Her father was an alpha. A powerful one for that matter,"

"Do you know who conducted the research on you?"

"My mother did with the help of a few hematologists," I reply. The brothers exchange a look.

"What are you thinking?"

Jasper gets up." Do you think I can test your blood again?"
