The Alpha's Unwanted Mate -
The Alpha’s Unwanted Mate Chapter 27
“That hit home, didn’t it son?”
Zillon glared over at his mother, pushing his empty plate aside. “I could eat two spoon full more, but since it’s all finished, I don’t feel satisfied.”
“You eat like a pig.”
“And you cook like a stingy, old woman.”
“Well I am stingy, and I am old. Tell him Gregory.”
Gregory or rather the alpha sighed as he looked over at them. “You both are embarrassments to my family. Can’t you guys shut up for once? Every time Zillon visits, he gives Celine another topic to argue about. Are you two not grown?”
“Absolutely, I don’t know about Zillon, but I’m so grown that I’ll go wash up after myself.” She raised out of her seat, stacking the plates atop of each other. “I bet you aren’t grown enough to do that, Gregory…”
“Well I…I—”
“Can I…can I help? With the dishes I mean.”
Everyone’s eyes swung over to Celeste, each one assessing her as if she was mad. “No.”
The word was thrown at her by everyone, said in complete unison, however the Luna was the sole owner of the ones that greeted her ears after.
“You’re not only here because we wanted to meet you, Celeste. We know how Zillon is, if you had went home with him, you’d have been the one to cook and clean up despite the fact that you just left a hospital. We know how worthless he is, thus why he’ll be the one to help with the dishes. Go rest up sweetheart, I wanted to talk to Zillon about something anyway.”
“B-but…”
“Go ahead Kitten, dad will show you to my room…I won’t take long, I’ll be up in a second.”
Celeste looked over at Zillon, finding his words reassuring enough to calm her heart. “O-okay.”
“I’ll bring up your bags when I’m coming, so don’t even think of touching them.” He then raised out of his seat and started helping his mom stack up the dishes.
Celeste watched him until both him and his mother had the plates that had been on the table in their hands as they disappeared into what she guessed was the kitchen. She turned to the Alpha then, smiling shyly. “I…I think I’m ready to go up now.”
“Alright sweetie, come on.”
He got up from his seat and Celeste mirrored his actions, steps following his as he lead her deeper into the house. He took her up the stairs, taking her to the first room along the hall. “This is Zillon’s room, he’s been living in it from the moment he became five up until now. He rarely ever stays at his place, but we haven’t been seeing him much lately. At first, we thought it was good…he now had a mate after all, but then we realized that everything wasn’t as it seemed, especially after hearing about your admitting at the hospital.”
Celeste’s heart picked up in her chest, her eyes dropping to the floor. “It wasn’t…it wasn’t hi—”
“It’s inevitable for you to defend him, but we’ll be the one to conclude whether it was his fault or not.” He pushed the door open, gesturing her inside. “Go rest up now, you must be tired.”
And then he turned his back, heading back down the stairs. Celeste didn’t know how to feel about what he said. What would they do if they figured out what had been happening between Zillon and her?
Would they too choose Celia like what Zillon did?
Would they shun her?
Would they no longer treat her as family?
Would they too reject her?
Celeste wasn’t sure about any of those answers, but she was sure that she’d feel bad if things took a negative turn from here. She already felt at home, for the first time in forever, she felt as though she could belong somewhere.
Zillon didn’t have to be apart of her life, his parents made her feel significant enough. She didn’t feel unwanted when she had sat around that table and she really didn’t want to feel that way anymore, not for the rest of her life…
But that wasn’t up to her, it wasn’t a wish she could fulfill. She wasn’t the moon goddess, she couldn’t just choose her own path, she couldn’t steer herself or steer them either…their reaction to what’s been happening was totally out of her control…
So whatever happened, she’d have to accept it and that made her…sad.
Indolently walking through the door, Celeste sighed, shoving the door close behind her. This really was Zillon’s room, she could smell his distant scent…the sweetness of it calmed her, but it wasn’t enough to take away her worries or the hopelessness that tainted her heart.
She really was convicted that they’d hate her after this and then…she’d truly be lonely, she’d go back to being unwanted and insignificant, she’d…she’d…
Tears blurred her vision as she thought of it and a denseness pressured her already heavy heart as she staggered over to the bed, laying down on the edge of it.
She wished the moon goddess had favoured her as much as she favoured her sister. She wished her pain could just end and happiness would be the only thing she felt…she wished…she wished because that’s all she could do.
After letting a few tears fall, Celeste closed her eyes, trying invain to fall asleep. That way, whatever the future holds would be put on hold until she woke up.
But it seems for her, even that was impossible…
A/N// Oh guys, Celeste is all depressed again…our girl is so sensitive, she overthinks and degrades herself, but that’s what she’s used to anyways.
