The Alpha’s Unwanted Mate Chapter 41
Celeste and Zillon walked downstairs side by side to the sweet smell of meat balls and what they were sure was spaghetti.
Around the table, Gregory and Celine already sat, both watching as the beautiful couple approached. “I see you people have finally started to look like soulmates.”
“Shut up, mom.” Zillon grumbled, taking his seat alongside her. He patted the seat next to him, non-verbally telling Celeste to sit there.
With little to no hesitance, she did, ankles crossing as she looked up at Zillon’s parents. “Goodmorning.”
“Morning sweetheart.” They both replied in unison, Gregory’s face lighting up like a Christmas tree. “You’re one to always remember your manners Celeste, but let me ask, why are you not sitting beside your father-in-law this morning?”
“Well I…you see…” Celeste started, her eyes darting down to stare at the table. “I…I—”
“You what?”
Her breath hitched as she pointed over at Zillon, rendering him the culprit. “He told me to sit here.”
“And did you want to?”
“I…y—”
“Stop picking on Celeste dad, she takes everything serious, even jokes.”
“Well that’s a good trait especially if she takes what I’m about to tell you guys seriously.” He leaned forward, propping his head on his hand. “We lost two patrol men last night, the rogues were undetected and according to the pack men, they were strong. I’m not sure why we’re they’re target since we hadn’t offended anyone lately, but it seems they’ve been around from before last night.”
“Rogues? Here in Dustmoon pack? Why did they only attack two patrol men? And why attack them in the first place if they weren’t going to break in?”
“I’m not sure son, they were probably making themselves known. If you guys are leaving today, I’d suggest you leave early and take the car, it’s safer that way.”
“Then dad, shouldn’t we investigate? Rogues on our packlands, killing our members…they should be slaughtered, ruthlessly killed.”
“That’s why you’re going back on duty. I understand that your break was short, but this is a matter that concerns you and me too. Patrol with the men, your senses are sharper than theirs, you’re stronger, there’s not one rogue out there that can match up to your skills.”
“I understand…”
“When’s Fredd and Liam coming down though? They’ve been away so long.”
“Soon I think.”
“Good, because you’ll need the help of your beta and gamma.”
“Yes father, I th—”
“You too have disturbed breakfast for long enough. My spaghetti is getting cold and neither Celeste or I is interested in any of your pack politics. Please let us eat in peace and then you can discuss slaughtering whoever.”
“Alright, I guess this conversation really isn’t appropriate for the dining table.” He took ahold of his fork, then looked over at Celeste. “Let’s eat princess.”

After eating, Celeste had walked her way upstairs, leaving Zillon to continue his conversation with his father. She had to admit, the conversation was not pleasing to her.
She understood that he had a duty, that he’d have to risk his life for the pack…but she didn’t want him to. Rogues were always a problem to werewolves, because they lack a pack, they think it’s fair to group up and destroy others.
Some rogues don’t think like that though and those are the ones who have lost the trait to think, lost their consciousness; the ferals. Their only instincts is to kill, they’ll prey on anything, even human beings which is why packs always hunt and kill them.
However, there are rogues that mean harm to nobody, some probably ran away from abusive packs, got kicked out or was even born without a pack and it’s pitiful that some of them end up dying because of that.
Pushing Zillon’s room door open, Celeste stepped inside, not having anything else to do but throw herself on the bed. She felt restless, especially since she was cooped up in the house for days. She wanted to go for a run, to transfer into her gentle beast and speed off into the winds without a destination.
But she doubt Zillon would ever let her. He’d bring up the excuse that she’s injured when all in all she was healed and now he had another excuse; the rogues.
Sighing, she twisted on the bed. He was with his father now though, he wouldn’t be able to stop her if he didn’t see her…right?
Celeste shuffled back off the bed, conceding to the thoughts she knew Zillon would be unhappy with. But she was bored, impatient and furthermore, Zillon wasn’t here. This run would help to clear her mind and her heart as well.
Walking back through the door, Celeste sneaked downstairs. It was daytime, if rogues were going to come around, they wouldn’t be bold enough to come now.
So she tiptoed through the front door and into the woods not far away from the house. There she transformed into her beast and took off into the forest.
The run wasn’t suppose to be long, but it ended up longer than she imagined. The breeze was so cool, it ran through her white fur like combs and the scent of the grass, the trees was so mesmerising that she fell into a pit of bliss.
Soon she found herself floating out of that pit though, her feet skidding to a stop, nothing but horror printed on her face.
In front of her, laid a bloody trail and as her eyes followed it, dread filled her even more. There was a wolf on the floor, much bigger than her, but much smaller than the one on top of it.
It was breathing but barely, eyes rolled to the back of its head as the bigger, gray wolf feasted upon its neck. Celeste stepped back, her heart booming against her chest. What should she do?
She could never be certain, especially when the sound of her steps had caught the attention of the…the rogue. His eyes were a dark black which could only mean he was a feral and the one lying on the floor was a pack member just as unlucky as her.
Celeste stepped back some more, her eyes fixed on the rogue as it loosened it’s mouth around the almost dead wolve’s neck and started to approach her.
She was never trained to fight, omegas were never sent to war, so it wasn’t necessary, but even if she was trained, what could she do when that rogue was thrice her size? It could bring her down with one hit and swallow her with one gulp after.
There was no defending herself in a situation like this, she’d lose, she’d…she’d die.
Celeste whimpered, her heart beating even faster when it leaped at her.

A/N Oh no, who’ll save her? Zillon?
Or will she be trampled under this rogue’s feet?
