The Alpha's Unwanted Mate
The Alpha’s Unwanted Mate Chapter 99 Book 2 Chapter 31

With a heart that trembled in anticipation, Celeste hopped off the bed and walked out of the room. She headed downstairs, finding Liam on the couch in the living room. Unlike every other time, the TV wasn’t on and he sat patiently as though he was waiting for somebody.

He looked up at her, handing her his fisted hand. “I see you’ve finally came down…Zillon left me an order again…”

“W…what did he say?”

“He told me to give you this and this.” He offered her his other hand, both fisted. “He said you’ll have to choose…now.”

Reluctantly, Celeste stretched out her arm and Liam laid what he had in both of his hands in her palm. She looked down at them, finding a key and a bracelet just like the one she had bought for him.

It was just a tad bit different, there were no blue diamonds, instead they were a pretty pink.

“That’s the keys to the dungeon, not the keys to his cell… but you can go see him if you want and that…” He pointed to the bracelet. “He said he bought that when you guys went into the human world… it was a gift he said…”

“W-What?” Celeste’s heart broke into half as she analyzed it closer. “It’s…it’s just like mine…”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, but make up your mind, you’re hurting him more by not being sure of what you want. He really did nothing wrong and that’s what made it all more painful for him. Make your choice now, you have to give one of those back to me…it’s either the key or the bracelet. Pick…”

“Was it all the truth? Am I really the bad guy? Was I the wrong one?” Tears blurred her eyes as she spoke, her hand locking around the key.

“I’m afraid that you are…and about Xavier, Zillon didn’t want to tell you that he was using you because he knew it’d hurt you… he had placed you above himself in everything he did, you were his priority.. I get that you’re angry…I get that you’re hurt and I don’t blame you for what you did…I only detested you for putting him through so much pain…but I thought it over and I think I understand now. He had been harsh to you from the very beginning, he had hurt you time and time again…you had every right to not believe his words when he had done what you thought he did before…I…I’m sorry for how I acted towards you…my stubbornness lead me into hurting you too. I wanted you to get it, I wanted you to understand that you were hurting him.”

He ruffled his hair and sighed to himself. “He cried so many times because of you and Zillon never cried…well he cried for his brother but that was a long time ago. He barely slept and he barely ate too, he was suffering because of you and yet you were fawning over someone who was just using you. That’s what made me angry, but I had no right to say what I did… especially not to my Luna.”

He bowed his head and stretched out his hand to her. “Give me the keys, it seems you’ve already made your choice.”

Celeste looked down at her hands. Finding that she held tightly to the bracelet and yet she hadn’t even closed her hand around the keys. It was an involuntary act, but it was what she wanted.

It was Zillon from the beginning, no matter how she tried to deny it, he was the only one who could make her heart exhilarate, he was the only one who could light a fire within her and skillfully extinguish it.

He was perfect for her, no matter how imperfect he seemed…Celeste couldn’t explain it, but she’d choose him a thousand times more even if he came with pain and heart ache. She was happy when she was around him, just the sight of him could lift a heavy weight off her shoulder and she was ready to have him for herself again.

Handing Liam the keys, Celeste bowed her head in gratitude to him. “Where is he?”

“He didn’t tell me, he said you’d know where to find him if you do choose him…something about the first time or rather place you guys met…go before his anxiety kills him…sneak up on him like the little kitten you are.”

Celeste gave him a hardly noticeable smile before walking out of the living room. Her steps were quick and they broke out into a sprint as soon as she stepped outside.

Towards the woods she went, her heart fluttering like a butterfly in her chest. She knew just where he was, she didn’t have to contemplate it for long, he was at that cave…that cave where her love for him began.

Did he finally figure it out?

Did he finally know that it was her and not Celia?

If so, then Celeste couldn’t be happier, she had held it in for so long…and now she wouldn’t have to anymore.

Fastening her pace, Celeste headed towards the pack borders, conscious of the fact that the cave was there. She could smell multiple scents, but she focused on Zillon’s, following it all the way to the location.

She stopped outside, breathing hard as she looked down at the bracelet. What would she say to him?

What would she do?

Celeste nervously shifted from one foot to the other, anticipation killing her. She hoped he wasn’t angry anymore, she hoped he’d forgive her; for being wrong…f-for cheating…for not believing…

She hoped he’d take her back…she hoped he’d still love her like she loved him.
