The Beautiful and the Damned -
Protect
"You look like you want to ask me something, you can ask you know, I don't bite"
Arazela and I were presently in a room in the left wing of the mansion. The walk to the room was quite uncomfortable. Well for me that is. The only thing that kept me busy was me staring at the beautiful well crafted designs on the wall of the mansion. It practically screamed i'm made out of pure gold and it was very much believable with Seker being a god and a well known billionaire it was very much possible.
While the god of death said he sealed in something in the mansion I still find it hard to believe that he actually sealed something sinister in here. The mansion looked like something out of a fairy tale. Something bad can't really be locked in here right?
"Seker said you aren't his biological daughter"
"Yes I'm not" she gave me a small smile. She didn't look offended by my straight forwardness.
"How did you come to be his daughter" I blurted it out fast just wanting to get it over with.
"Hmm" she said with a glazed thinking look "It was probably a century ago or more when I first met Seker" she started explaining.
But with all this going on I was changing into a plain black free gown that Arazela had given me when we first reached the room. I really didn't mind changing in front of other females.
"I was on the verge of death when we first met. He was supposed to reap me but he didn't, it went against every principles of the universe. He broke the rules of the grim reaper never to bring anyone back to the life, to save my sorry excuse of a life. And I will forever be indebted and grateful to him"
To say I was surprised would be an understatement, bewildered would be more like it.
"Wow, that's really something" I sighed under my breath still processing the information.
"But weren't there any consequences for him saving you?"
"Oh there was"
"And?" I asked.
"He said he didn't care he was going to do whatever he wanted" she chuckled out, her eyes glazed over like she was remembering something.
I released a short laugh "Sounds Soo much like Seker"
"But how did you then come to be his daughter?" I asked curious for the answer.
A sad dark look planted itself on her face as she spoke. "I'm not sure you know this but I'm actually a demon" Okay definitely didn't see that coming. I didn't want to interrupt her so I just listened silently.
"I was a low level demon in hell, the lowest of the low. I was treated like actual garbage among other demons, they really despised me even though I was only a child then" she released a bitter laugh.
"At some point in time one of my kind decided one day that it was better I didn't exist at all, said I was a disgrace to the demon race. The sad thing was that it was actually true at that time I was beyond pathetic even I wanted to die" she heaved a breath.
"And my prayers were finally answered one day. I was stab with the one of the rarest daggers that could actually kill a demon. But at my dying moment the grim reaper appeared and saved my life"
"When I asked him why he saved me he said he had his reasons. So when he saved my life and brought me back I didn't have anywhere else to go, I mean the only placed I've known since a child was the underworld, and I knew I wasn't welcomed there, So for some unknown reason even till date, Seker decided to adopt me as his daughter" She gave out a very radiant smile. She really did love her father.
"I'm sorry you went through all that In your childhood" I said sincerely.
"Wasn't your fault. But thanks anyways" she said with a grateful smile.
As I was struggling to zip up my dress she came closer to me and helped me. "I like you Bethel. I feel like you're a very good person so I have a very important request to ask of you" she finished zipping my close and I turned to face her direction.
"What is it?"
"I want you to please protect my dad" I stared at her in confused"
"Protect your Dad? What do you mean by that, did something happen to him?" I asked concerned already.
"You're he's soulmate if anything had happened to him you'd probably be the first to know" she smiled a little "But no, nothing happened to him, but something will happen so please protect him when the time comes" I stared at her more confused than ever.
"What do mean, what is going to happen to him Arazela?" I anxiously asked. I really felt that whatever she was going to say wasn't going to be good. "I---"
A soft knock on the door interrupted us. Really universe at this bloody crucial time.
"The ritual preparations are ready. Bethel are you ready" Randuff was the one that came in. I guess he was finally back from where Seker asked him to go.
I turned to Arazela and gave a look that said our discussion wasn't yet over, and it most definitely wasn't.
I looked at the full length mirror in front of me, I looked different. The black color of the gown complimented my pale white skin, the color of my hair came as a surprise to me though, my hair that was normally dyed black was now two different shades, the White was unusually getting a lot more than the black and I vividly recall I used black dye on my hair only just two days ago in the bathroom. It was honestly creeping me out. And why were the people around always not saying anything about it.
Something definitely wasn't right.
Turning to Randuff I spoke "I'm ready"
