The Beta’s Regret
Chapter 243

As soon as I fell asleep, it felt as though something awakened-like I came alive in the darkness.

I turned, there was nothing around me.

My baby! Where was my baby boy? And Beauty, Adonis? Where were they?

I panicked, searching wildly in the darkness, my breaths grew heavier.

Suddenly the ground beneath me gave way. With a scream, I began to fall into an abyss. I was sinking, and stretched out my hands to hold something, anything that would keep me from falling father, but all I felt was empty air.

Fear gripped me and my heart raced faster. I screamed louder, but there was no response. The only sound was my voice echoing in the distance.

Suddenly, a force pulled me out of the darkness into thr light. It felt as though my body was squeezed and suddenly dumped on the ground.

I landed on my feet with a slight stumble but somehow kept my balance.

I shielded my eyes from the sudden bright light and gave myself a moment to adjust before dropping my hands to look around me.

My eyes widened in surprise.

I was back at the Arena.

How was this even possible? A few minutes ago I had just given birth on the forest floor, and now I'm here?

The strangest thing was that everything looked like the past, from before the sky went dark or when it rained.

I looked at where I sat when I arrived at the arena. It was empty.

I frowned. None of this made sense. But then, life had been that way recently. Nothing made sense to me.

I noticed something strange. The Arena was quiet. Everyone was looking in horror at the open ring.

I moved closer, and held my breath. What I saw made my heart leap into my throat.

Eros was beating Ryker in a rage, non-stop. It seemed like something was controlling him. His anger was brutal.

I ran into the open ring, determined to do something about it.

"Stop!" I yelled, "Eros, please stop."

I reached for his arm to grab it, but I was shocked when my hands passed through like smoke.

I stepped back and stared at my hands in shock. As if to confirm what just happened, I tried again and my hands passed through Eros.

I was here, but I wasn't really here.

No one could see me.

I shivered. It was almost as if I was here in the flesh.

Was I dead? Or was this another trance the moon goddess is trying to use to tell me something?

I broke out of my thoughts when Eros made a loud cry as he struck a final blow at Ryker that threw him to the ground.

No one said a word. The tension was intense as everyone waited to see if Ryker was alive or dead.

I knew it would cost Eros his position if he ended up killing Ryker.

Eros looked up in my direction and I saw his eyes.

He looked like he was under some kind of illusion. His eyes were soulless, almost like how he looked when he first met Ryker, but not this intense. As if he saw me, Eros unleashed a smile.

I stepped back.

Suddenly, he growled and stumbled backwards, as if a force pushed him back. He shook his head.

After a few seconds, he looked up again, this time he was back to himself. His eyes had cleared into his sapphire color as he looked around in surprise.

He gasped when he saw Ryker injured and beaten to a pulp on the floor. Eros looked at his hands and was appalled at the sight of blood in his hands.

I could see Eros was about to panic, and I rushed to his side. However, I could do nothing to help him.

Ryker still looked lifeless and he had begun to grow pale.

I prayed to the moon goddess with as much passion as I could muster. The last thing I wanted was to have Eros exiled for the death of Ryker.

A loud roar broke out from the crowd, and the crowd began to chant "king" very loudly.

I looked back, and saw that Ryker was awake.

Relief flooded me like a river. I could see Eros had the same reaction because he immediately went to Ryker and helped him up. Ryker accepted, but after standing, he fell back down to take a rest.

The Elders stepped into the ring and

took Eros's hands. Just as they were about to declare him the winner, a loud cry rang out from the crowd and soon, people began to run

around for safety as rogues took

over.

I was surprised when three hooded figures stood before Eros and unveiled themselves.

Pison? That was the last person that would have crossed my mind. Arthur and Alice stood behind him. My belly dipped in hurt.

In a blur, Pison launched an attack and the rogues began to kill.

It was a tough battle. Ryker was now on his feet, fighting with a rogue. Despite how exhausted he was and his healing injuries, he still overpowered the rogue wolf.

Soon the Arena turned red with the blood of wolves and vampires. Cries of pain and despair filled the air as the war raged on.

All I saw was blood. Children becoming orphaned, wolves losing their mates and Vampires watching their beloved get killed in front of them.

It was a horror.

From the looks of Eros and Pison's fight, Pison had the upper hand.

Somewhere in the crowd, a child cried out loud as he watched his father get ripped to shreds by a rogue, after which the rogue began to stalk menacingly to the child. Eros saw this. Something snapped in him.

He suddenly overpowered Pison and

threw him off. Then he rushed to the child and attacked the rogue from behind. Erbs sunk his teeth into the neck of the rogue wolf and bit out a huge chunk of flesh as the creature bled to death.

Eros howled, his cry bitter and cold as he shifted. I watched in shock as his wolf grew multiple times its normal size.

A giant hybrid.

I had a sudden sense of Deja vu as Eros' eyes became empty, like there was no life in it.

He began to go on a killing spree, killing anything and anyone in sight. The rogues rushed at him, and he clawed out their intestines one after the other, sank his teeth into their flesh and ripped off their flesh one after the other.

I looked at Pison who exchanged a suspicious smile with Alice.

Before I knew what, Pison and Alice charged at Eros at the same time while he struggled to pull free from the sea of rogues that had managed to hold him down.

I watched in horror as Pison and Alice drove their claws into the beast, and ripped out his heart.

Eros fell to the ground, lifeless.
