Jayden noticed Harper staring at him blankly and realized he had been too abrupt. He quickly apologized to her.

"I'm sorry, I scared you."

Jayden withdrew his gaze from Harper's face and awkwardly said, "It's getting late. Go back and have a rest!"

After finishing his words, he turned around and wanted to run away, but his arm was grabbed by Harper. "Give me a goodnight kiss."

Jayden's body stiffened, somewhat incredulous, as he turned to look back at Harper.

But then she grabbed his arm, stood on her tiptoes, and kissed him on his thin lips.

Jayden's eyes lit up with joy as the soft and tender lips touched his, seemingly surprised that she took the initiative.

Harper just brushed his lips and then let go of him, saying, "Goodnight."

Jayden blushed and nodded his head lightly, "Goodnight to you too."

Harper raised her hand and waved at him, "Drive safe!"

Every time, Jayden would wait for Harper to enter the house before driving away. But this time, he was too overjoyed and turned around to sit in the car as she said. When starting the car, he lowered the window and took a last look at Harper, reluctant to leave. After Harper said goodbye to him, he finally started the car.

After his car drove away, Harper lifted her hand and touched her lips.

Step one, hold hands. Step two, kiss. If they make it to step three, she'd let her guard down and be with Jayden wholeheartedly.
