Mr. Roberts was interrupted as Mr. Scott excused himself to take a phone call. Mr. Roberts returned to his desk and opened his laptop, his gaze fixed and thoughtful, pondering the extent of the company's upcoming losses. The thought of a prolonged battle made him dread the potential outcome.

Mr. Scott's face turned pale as soon as he answered the call, exclaiming in alarm,

"Is this information reliable? If it's true, we're in big trouble."

Seeing Mr. Scott lose his composure, Mr. Roberts grew anxious about the specifics.

"Tell me, what exactly happened?"

"Sir, the Russell family has held a secret meeting and removed us from the list of investors for their real estate project. What should we do now, boss?"

"What? How dare they? I've invested much money into that project, and now they're saying they want to cut ties. Do they wish to sever all relations?" Mr. Roberts's legs gave way upon hearing the news, his hands trembling uncontrollably as he almost collapsed. Mr. Scott quickly supported him in sitting down.

"Medicine, my medicine..." His voice was weak and faltering, causing Mr. Scott to scramble in search. Moments later, an ambulance siren filled the air, leaving the company's staff bewildered and gossiping about the unfolding situation in the lobby.

In another development, after the meeting concluded, Henry returned home to confront his father about excluding the Roberts family from the project, only to be rejected outright. "Slap!"

"Do you even realize what you're doing? They've deceived you and tarnished our family's reputation, yet you defend them. I don't know if you're even my son anymore." The thunderous slap didn't cause Henry any fear or pain.

"It's all because of that man; Sara and her father are innocent. By doing this, you're wrongly accusing the innocent. Their company is in trouble; your decision is akin to wanting them to go bankrupt?" Henry's loud protest further infuriated Mr. Peter Russell. His eyes blazed with anger, his outrage reaching a boiling point.

"Yes, I do want them to go bankrupt. I want everyone to know that anyone who harms the Russell family will meet a grim end. If we give them an inch, they'll take a mile and overpower us. Let's see if Mr. Roberts can still talk big this time. And that spoiled girl, forget her. So many people wish to be part of our family and can't; what right do they have to slander us?"

"Father, love is not a commodity to be bought and sold, exchanged at will. I love Sara and will not marry anyone else in this lifetime."

"Slap!"

"You'll see the consequences of disobeying your parents. I'll live to a hundred years old to witness what becomes of your so-called noble love." Mr. Peter Russell's words had barely left his mouth when he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his left chest, prompting Mrs. Lisa Russell to rush over and support his arm.

"Honey, honey, calm down. He's still young, don't be too harsh."

"Young? My friend's son, who is two years his junior, is already helping manage their company. And here I am, carrying the weight of everything on my shoulders. Affairs of the heart that can't be managed have brought shame to our family. Tell me, shouldn't I set him straight?"

"I know you love him, but your health is also important. You must take care of yourself." The soothing words from his wife quell Mr. Peter Russell's anger somewhat. Mrs. Lisa Russell always had a gentle and caring demeanor, enduring her husband's excesses and gradually turning patience into a habit. To outsiders, it appeared that in this powerful family, she had no say, her life devoted to serving her mother-in-law, husband, and children. Despite the mundane existence, she had endured over twenty years without complaint.

Henry had never felt his father truly listened to his thoughts or wishes. The painting showcased a radiant girl with bright eyes and a curved smile, exuding youth, modernity, and vibrancy. Sara was not just a fleeting wind but the flame of love that burned in his heart.
