Chapter 4: LT's arrogant boss

"Such a tacky name, what's LT? They probably rushed into opening the company and needed to give more thought to the name. Once we're happily cooperating, I'll change it." Intending to meet the director in person, Sara was stopped by the security guard because the director had ordered strangers to be kept from entering.

"Do you mean to tell me your company only does business with acquaintances and relatives for a lifetime? How do you even survive operating like this? I'm an acquaintance of your director, just returned from abroad; go tell him that," Sara said arrogantly, brushing off her sleeve.

"Our director doesn't welcome anyone from Princess Cosmetics. Didn't they tell you that your company is banned from here?" The security guard mocked Sara as a fool, making her more determined to get in.

Sara realized that "stranger" was an excuse; they didn't want to cooperate with her. Everyone else could enter except for her. She suddenly remembered Mr Scott's words but refused to accept defeat. As Sara turned to leave, a luxury sports car drove in, and all the guards promptly bowed in respectful greeting.

From the car, a man in a luxury suit got out and walked around to the other side to open the door for another person. A man wearing large glasses covering more than half his face stepped out of the car, adjusted his tie, and walked in with a cold, arrogant demeanour like no other.

Looking from the back, one can see a tall figure, still very young, and a majestic demeanor like a leader. He will surely be the boss; hence, everyone bows in greeting. If one paid close attention, it would be evident they were terrified of making mistakes in front of him, so their speech, gestures, operations, and actions were all very cautious.

"CEO, today someone from Princess Cosmetics came, and she..." Mark Parker, the special assistant, began to report but was abruptly interrupted by his strict boss, making him too frightened to continue.

"From now on, do not mention that company in front of me unless you want to go back to your hometown to farm and raise chickens," he said, his expression darkening each time Princess's company name was mentioned as if he had just discovered a theft.

Mark had been his assistant for two years but had never seen him smile, even at social gatherings. People joked, "If the boss keeps this expression, he may be unmarried for life." Yet, their boss remained indifferent.

Sara called her best friend, Jessica, for a ride since Mr. Scott was busy and had to leave early. Jessica was shopping nearby, so the car arrived within fifteen minutes. Seat in the car, Sara complained.

"I wonder what grudge he holds against my family to issue a ban. He must think too highly of himself. If not for the agreement with my father, I wouldn't have suffered this bad thing."

"Think about it; maybe he's one of the guys who have fallen in love with you but got rejected and now seeks revenge," Jessica joked while driving, teasing Sara.

"I don't even know his name?" Sara didn't care who he was; only knowing his attitude made her despise him more.

"What? You went to negotiate business without even knowing the partner's name. Maybe he refused because he didn't know who the partner was, just like you. In this situation, using a beauty trap as a strategy seems to be the best course of action," Jessica laughed, causing Sara to hit her shoulder lightly in annoyance. "I'm already upset, and you keep teasing."

"So, you're planning to give up?"

"No! Whether the cooperation is a success or a failure isn't important right now. What's crucial is that I must find out who he is."

"Wha... at... t!" Jessica slammed on the brakes, causing them both to fall in front. Sara was startled, her long, messy hair flying up to cover half her beautiful face, but it couldn't diminish her chic aura.

"What happened?"

"You surprised me. I've never seen you so curious about any man, but today, you're willing to go to great lengths for him. Is it worth it?"

"He's banned me; I must uncover the truth." Sara was determined not to give up, leaving Jessica no choice but to shake her head in resignation at her friend's stubbornness.

In the afternoon, they came back to LT company. Sara exited the car first and stood at a distance, waiting for Jessica to drive in before she approached. Jessica lowered the window enough for the security guard to see her and signalled for help. "Could you please show me where to park? It's my first time here, and I'm unfamiliar with it."

Seeing the elegant, beautiful girl, he assumed she must be a VIP partner and cheerfully walked over to guide her inside, not wanting to affect his job.

Seizing the moment, Sara walked into the building and took the elevator straight up to the 18th floor, where the office of the arrogant CEO she was determined to meet was located.

The space was eerily quiet. Sara felt this place was seldom visited, as if he was the only one there. Could he be so eccentric that he didn't want anyone to see him?

Sara slowly moved from one room to another in search but found all rooms empty, without a soul in sight or even a desk. The company was bizarrely quiet. Where was everyone?

Suddenly, Sara heard flowing water in a vast room, prompting her to open the door and enter. To her great astonishment, the room was enveloped in pitch darkness, its furnishings opulent and intricate, devoid of any light. Could it be that the owner harboured a fear of light?

Driven by curiosity, Sara went deeper inside, her eyes admiring the surroundings. In a moment of distraction, she collided with someone, her stumble sending her crashing into his chest. The intense, masculine scent that enveloped her made her catch her breath and look up. There before her stood Leon, his face an expression of cold indifference, his eyes sharp, and his shoulders firm, rendering her speechless.

Seeing Sara, Leon appeared unfamiliar, he let go of his arm holding her tightly, and sat on the sofa with his legs crossed as if waiting for the prisoner to come and take the confession.

Regaining her composure, Sara sat down opposite him, unafraid.

"I had thought who could be so arrogant, but to my surprise..."

"Miss Roberts, you seem to know me, yet I do not recognize you. Whatever your reason for coming today, I am uninterested. However, trespassing without permission violates the law," Leon stated coldly, irritating Sara. "Do you think that since you are the boss, you have the right to speak up and look down on others? I wouldn't have needed to use this method if it weren't for your arrogance.

"Miss Roberts, you're quite the schemer, aren't you? You say you come is come, you say you left is go. You love anyone or break up with anyone you like; why must you suffer so hard for me now? I'm so honoured."

Sara's face turned red with anger. He had once coldly turned his back on her, forcing her to search far and wide. Upon reencountering him, he faced her with accusations, a testament to the fathomless depths of human fickleness.

"I have no time to beat around the bush with you. Today, I am here for the exclusive distribution project of a new product. This is my company's proposal. Review it and give me your answer," Sara said decisively, placing the document before him and leaving with the same coldness Leon had shown her.

"Miss Roberts, I've never encountered anyone as hot-headed as you in all my years. You treat this business deal as if it were a casual market transaction, to take it or leave it. If you wish to secure exclusive distribution rights from LT Company, I have one condition," Leon stated calmly.

"What condition? Say it."

"If you agree to serve as my secretary for the next three months, working according to my arrangements, then I will approve your project."

"You want me to submit to your commands, don't you? Dream on."

Without another thought or word, Sara walked away. Leon remained seated, his expression unchanged, thinking, "If she turns back, the sky might just fall."
