"Daddy?"
"Yeah, Mom, Dad's actually doing great." Daniel, worried someone might snatch Brittany away, after much contemplation, decided to reveal that Dad was still alive.
"He's got some important stuff to handle, so he can't come back just yet. Don't go hanging around with other guys, okay?"
Brittany took Daniel's words as an innocent belief shielded from harsh truths, not having the heart to burst his bubble, "Okay, I promise you, sweetie." Daniel was over the moon, "Mom, you gotta wait for Dad to come back, okay?"
"Okay."
Daniel ate slowly, and halfway through, Brittany went off to the restroom. Coming out, she caught snippets of a conversation not too far away. "Mayor, the offer from the Ulbricht family is just too low."
"Damn it, the guy Elijah brought in is tough, got us by the balls. If we don't agree to the demolition, all our dirty laundry's gonna get aired!"
The mayor grit his teeth, "Get to that guy immediately. Thinks he can threaten me? I want him gone!"
"The guy's always wearing a mask, acting all mysterious!"
They plotted on how to abduct the person, and Brittany realized she'd overheard something she shouldn't have. As she turned to leave, she accidentally knocked over a vase. Crash!
"Someone's here!"
"What are you waiting for, chase them!"
Brittany panicked and bolted, only to be dragged into another suite!
Bang!
The door shut.
Brittany was pinned against the wall by a man, the thin fabric of their clothes doing little to muffle the pounding of his heart. "You"
"Stay still."
Isaac hadn't expected Brittany to be here, especially not to overhear forbidden secrets, and suddenly grabbed her hand. Brittany, not expecting Isaac, instinctively leaned closer to him.
The searchers moved from room to room.
As they neared the next door, Brittany gripped Isaac's hand tightly, "Sir, they're looking for me, maybe "
"My apologies."
Brittany was confused. Why would he say that?
Next second, a warm, wet kiss landed, causing Brittany's eyes to widen in shock!
He was supposed to be a married man, with kids!
And yet, he dared to kiss her!
Brittany struggled fiercely, but he pinned her hands above her head, growing even more assertive.
Isaac hadn't touched Brittany in so long, and yet, the contact was unforgettable.
He restrained himself from deepening the kiss, lips locked, their breathing intertwined.
Brittany found herself lost in the moment, her resistance fading as she clutched at his shirt, the ruins of her guarded heart beginning to rebuild.
She even found herself responding to his movements.
The door burst open.
"Damn!"
"Can't you find a room? Getting all cozy here—"
The intruders, stumbling upon the intimate scene, spat in disgust and left.
A gust of warm air filled the space.
Realizing the madness of her actions, Brittany pushed Isaac away, wiping her lips fiercely, "Thanks for your help."
Isaac, still hungry for more, squinted
with a mischievous glint, "Ms.
ette, it's dangerous here. Bened
d home early."
Brittany turned to leave.
After a few steps, she turned back, "You're the guy they're after, aren't you? Be careful, they're not to be trifled with."
A big fish in a small pond.
Isaac knew this all too well, "Thanks for the concern."
Brittany walked away briskly,

Daniel tugged at her, "Mom, why are your lips all red?"
Brittany, feeling awkward, instinctively covered her lips, diverting the topic, "The food was too spicy."
Daniel was skeptical, "Really?"
Mom's elusive behavior felt all too familiar.
Just like... the times she and Dad were all lovey-dovey, and he'd accidentally caught them!
