What a coincidence, the site for her inspection was less than a mile from the home she and Isaac once shared.

After wrapping up her work, it was already 10 p.m. Brittany declined the driver's offer to take her back to the hotel, choosing instead to walk slowly along the asphalt road towards the dimly lit neighborhood.

In the past few years, the Old Town area of Imperial City had undergone vigorous renovations, with most of the old apartment buildings being replaced by new ones. Except for their old neighborhood, which, despite its gray facade, exuded a unique warmth and liveliness. Unconsciously, Brittany found herself standing at the entrance of the neighborhood, feeling an odd sense of familiarity. It was as if she had been here countless times before.

Not far away, there was a rundown fruit stand. The owner, busy moving stock, jumped when he saw Brittany, then quickly approached her, "Ms. Dustin, is that really you?"

"Are you talking to me?" Brittany realized he was speaking to her.

"Yes, Ms. Dustin, didn't you and Mr. Salter move away a long time ago?" Wiping the sweat from his brow, the owner continued, "What brings you back?"

Brittany caught the main point, "I used to live here?"

"Yes, Ms. Dustin, it's been years, but you're as beautiful as ever." The owner handed her some fresh fruit, "Here, Ms. Dustin, take these. Thanks for supporting our business back then."

Brittany shook her head, "No need to thank me."

Holding the fruit, Brittany realized the owner might know something, "Do you have a picture of my husband?"

"No." The owner felt something was off with Brittany but didn't dwell on it, "But, I heard Mr. Salter is from the Salter family. Did you guys have a fight?"

They used to be so in love; why was Brittany back here alone?

"The Salter family?"

"Yes, wealthy beyond measure." The fruit stand owner seemed to remember something, "When the Old Town was being renovated, we were supposed to be relocated too. We didn't want to leave, but Mr. Salter helped us stay." ""Ms. Dustin, thank you."

Brittany listened to him repeatedly mentioning Mr. Salter, feeling a pang of sorrow.

After bidding farewell, Brittany was filled with thoughts of Imperial City's Salter family.

Back at the hotel, Noel was already gone. Brittany booted up her laptop and searched online for everything about the Salter family. Indeed, the Salter family had a son who reportedly died in a car accident six months ago. All traces of him had been erased. Staring at the blank page, Brittany felt bewildered for a moment.

The next day, amidst her work, Brittany arranged to meet Kari. Kari had been swamped lately, but she had been eager to meet since Brittany returned to Imperial City.

"Brittany, when did you get back?"

"Just arrived." Brittany ordered a cup of hot tea for Kari, "Kari, how much do you know about Isaac?"

Kari paused mid-sip, the hot tea catching in her throat, "Brittany, how do you know him?"

The whole world seemed to avoid mentioning Isaac. How did she know about him?

"He's my legally recognized husband." Brittany fixed her gaze on Kari, "I need you to tell me everything you know."

Kari set down her teacup, "Brittany, are you sure you want to know?"

"Yes."

After a long silence, Kari shared everything she knew, adding, "Brittany, Mr. Salter wasn't a saint, but his feelings for you were genuine."

"It's just a pity that the accident happened so suddenly. After Mr. Salter passed, you lost your memory, and we dared not mention it again." Brittany's eyes reddened, "Do you have a photo?"

Kari shook her head, "No."

Isaac was always a private person, rarely appearing in the media. Kari and Brittany weren't close to him; how could she have a photo? "If you really want to know about Mr. Salter, maybe you should ask William."
