The Billionaire's Forbidden Longing
Chapter 118 What to Do If You Want to Get Engaged?

Allison got what Xavier was hinting at; he wanted to know where she stood. If she didn't want to push things further, he'd sign the letter of understanding. But if she did, Preston wouldn't get off easy. "Xavier, let's just go through the legal process. If he did something wrong, he should face the consequences, right?" Allison said.

Xavier nodded, feeling better after hearing her. Not long after, Preston was taken to the hospital. Because of his injury, he couldn't be held in detention, but even in the hospital, he was under watch. Seeing this, Blair was heartbroken and went to take care of Preston herself, but he showed no gratitude at all.

"You've got some nerve showing up here. Look at your precious daughter. Not only has she drained our family dry, but now she wants to throw me in jail. She probably wishes I were dead!" Preston raged. Blair looked at him, feeling guilty. "Don't worry, honey. I'll talk to Allison about Serenity Manor. No matter what, that was left by Mom, and it should go to Jasper."

Hearing Blair say she wanted to give Serenity Manor to Jasper, Preston frowned. But given the situation, he thought it best to let Blair get Serenity Manor first and deal with the rest later.

Hayden had no clue about all this drama. To keep things simple, Allison had sent him to a wellness retreat in the countryside, a hot spring resort far from the city's chaos and the Bennett family's mess. When Alexander heard about Allison's rough day, he didn't say much but waited for her at home, thinking about everything that had happened.

"Liliana, I want to get engaged to Allison. What do you think?" Alexander's call caught Liliana off guard.

"Did Allison agree to be your fiancée?" Liliana asked.

Her question hit Alexander hard.

"Liliana..."

Liliana sighed, realizing it was just Alexander's wishful thinking.

"Alexander, how can you be so useless? You're already living together. Why don't you make a move and ask her to be yours? What are you waiting for?" Liliana said bluntly, making Alexander blush.

He had thought about making a move on Allison, but she was only eighteen. No matter how much he wanted to, he had to consider her feelings. Plus, his injuries weren't fully healed yet.

"I heard you hurt your leg. Are you sure you're okay? Alexander, this is serious. I'll find a doctor to check you tomorrow. Alexander? Alexander?" Liliana looked at the disconnected phone, feeling helpless. Still, seeing Alexander so shy made her secretly happy.

"Why are you so happy?" Victor asked, seeing Liliana's amused expression, and hugged her.

"It's Alexander. He wants to get engaged to Allison, but she hasn't agreed yet. Isn't it funny how shy he is?" Liliana said.

"Yeah. But isn't it a bit shady for Alexander to go after Allison when she's so young? Does Griffin still disapprove of their relationship?" Victor added.

The mention of Griffin gave Liliana a headache. "You know how stubborn he is. Only Jessa can handle him! But Dad doesn't mind. It's just that the Bennett family is such a mess right now. Even if they want to get engaged, they have to wait until things calm down."

"I just feel bad for Allison. I heard she's Joe's student. She's got talent. If she marries Alexander, it would be a blessing for him!" Victor said.

Liliana nodded, but she knew getting Allison to agree to the engagement wouldn't be a walk in the park.

She plopped down next to him and asked, "What's up? You feeling okay?"

Alexander looked at her and pulled her into a hug. "Allison, how about we get engaged?"

Allison was taken aback by his sudden proposal.

She gave him a once-over, frowning. "What on earth are you thinking?"

Feeling a bit desperate, Alexander leaned in to kiss her, but she pushed him away. They were still in the living room; what was he thinking?

Alexander just laughed and hugged her tighter. They playfully wrestled on the couch until Felicity came out with food, smiling warmly at the sight of them.

"Dinner's ready!" Felicity called, and Allison quickly pushed Alexander away.

As they sat down to eat, Allison's phone rang. She glanced at the number, her expression darkening. Alexander grabbed the phone and answered it.

Blair's voice came through the phone. "Allison, tell the Ellis family to sign the letter of understanding. How can you be so heartless? Preston is your father. How can you ignore him?"

Alexander took a deep breath and, without waiting for Allison to respond, walked out of the living room with the phone. "Mrs. Bennett, this is Alexander. From now on, if you have any issues with Allison, you can contact me directly!" Blair was stunned, checking her phone to make sure she hadn't misdialed. "Who are you?"

"I'm Alexander. Allison is with me!" Alexander repeated.

Blair was shocked, not expecting Alexander to step in for Allison.

"Mr. Carter, why should we discuss our issues with you? She's still so young. What you're doing is inappropriate," Blair said.

Alexander sneered, "So you know she's still young? Yet she's not only your daughter but also the chairman of the Bennett Group. If you keep causing trouble, are you trying to bankrupt the Bennett Group or make the Bennett family a laughingstock in Skycrest?"

Alexander was a force to be reckoned with, and Blair was no match for him.

"Mr. Carter, I know Allison doesn't have a good reputation, but aren't you going too far? Our daughter can't be your mistress!" Blair said righteously.

Alexander gripped the phone tightly, nearly smashing it.

He took a deep breath, laughing in anger.

"Mrs. Bennett, you don't seem to recognize how talented Allison is and instead keep slandering her. Is it that hard for you to see her doing well? And to think you come from the esteemed Ember family! With an attitude like that, maybe the Ember family has no place in Skycrest anymore."

After hanging up, Alexander called James directly. "Get the Ember family out of Skycrest. Do it within three days, or you can resign!"

James was bewildered. What had he done to deserve being someone else's scapegoat?
