Chapter 48 The Serious Mr. Carter

After Alexander took off, Aiden was still scratching his head, trying to figure out where his daughter-in-law could be.

Meanwhile, just as Liliana stepped out of the Carter Manor, she grabbed Alexander. "Are you seriously bringing Allison home?" Alexander gave her a look. "Why not?"

Liliana's eyes went wide. "Alexander, how old are you? And how old is Allison? You could be her uncle!"

"Liliana!"

Alexander didn't like hearing that, even if it was true. It made him feel like he was being accused of something shady.

And honestly, that was exactly what Liliana thought. The more she thought about it, the angrier she got, feeling like Alexander was taking advantage of Allison.

Alexander said seriously, "I'm not joking. Allison will be the future mistress of the Carter family!"

Alexander was now running the Carter Group. His older brother was more into academics than business.

"You've always been independent since you were a kid. I don't know how you ended up liking a young girl. Allison's had a rough time at the Bennett Family. I feel bad for her. If you're serious, you better take good care of her!" Liliana couldn't say much more; after all, love was a personal matter.

She patted Alexander on the shoulder before getting into the car and leaving with Mia.

As soon as Mia got home, she called Allison, wondering if she was back.

"Awesome! I'll see you tomorrow then. By the way, there's a parent-teacher meeting at school tomorrow. Are your parents coming?" Mia asked casually.

Parent-teacher meeting? Allison's face darkened as she smirked sarcastically. Then she said calmly, "No need. They've never attended one before!" Hearing that, Mia's jaw dropped, finding it hard to believe.

After hanging up, Mia sat on the couch with a sullen face, not saying a word.

Liliana came downstairs and was surprised to see Mia looking so down, so she sat next to her. "Mia, what's wrong? Did you have a fight with someone?" Liliana remembered that Mia had been on a video call with Allison just now. How did she end up looking like she was about to cry after hanging up? Mia suddenly asked, "Mom, do you think Allison is really the Bennett family's biological daughter?"

Liliana was a bit puzzled. "Why do you ask that?"

Mia hugged Liliana's waist and whispered, "I told Allison about the parent-teacher meeting tomorrow, but she said her parents have never attended one. Why is that? Could it be that Allison isn't their biological daughter?"

Liliana paused for a moment, realizing Allison had a tough childhood. People often said the Bennett sisters were twins, but Yasmin and Allison had completely different appearances and personalities.

Mia declared, "I want to be a hundred times nicer to Allison!"

Liliana let Mia go upstairs to rest and then called Alexander. "Mia said there's a parent-teacher meeting tomorrow. Are you going to Allison's?"

Alexander was now at the airport, and after hearing Liliana's words, he instinctively tightened his grip on his phone.

With an hour left before his flight to Avalon City, Alexander called Allison. "Are you home now?"

Allison responded, "Yes, I'm about to take a shower!"

"I ordered takeout for you. Eat after your shower and then get some rest!" Alexander said as he got up and headed out of the airport.

James had just gotten their boarding pass and looked at Alexander, puzzled. "Mr. Carter?"

After her shower, Allison heard the doorbell ring. It was the takeout delivery, and it was so fancy it looked like it came from a high-end restaurant. Allison was exhausted. She didn't even bother cleaning up the takeout containers before crashing into bed and falling asleep.

Early the next morning, she was woken up by the doorbell. She glanced at her phone to see it was 6:30.

She threw on a robe and opened the door, finding Alexander standing outside.

"Why are you here so early?" Allison asked, still half-asleep.

"I was worried you'd forget you have class today, so I came to wake you up!" He said, slipping into the room and placing the breakfast he brought on the table. Seeing the uncleaned takeout containers, Alexander quickly tidied up and urged Allison to wash up.

By the time Allison finished washing up, breakfast was already laid out on the table.

Looking at the breakfast, Allison was surprised. "Is this the sandwich from that place in Avalon City? How did you get it?"

Having lived in Avalon City for five years, Allison loved the sandwiches from that place. She missed them a lot after moving to Skycrest.

"I made it myself!" Alexander said with a smile.

Hearing his words, Allison's eyes widened in shock. It was indeed made by Alexander. He had learned how to make the sandwich from the chef of that place in Avalon City after finding out from Felicity that Allison didn't like eating breakfast. If Allison liked sandwiches, he could hire a chef to make them at home. But having someone else make it was different from making it himself.

Allison praised, "Mr. Carter, you're amazing. Your future wife is going to be so lucky!"

Allison was quite embarrassed. She was only eighteen and no match for Alexander. Her face turned red, and her heart raced.

Alexander was pleased with her reaction and sat down across from her. "Eat up. I'll take you to school afterward!"

At 7:30, Allison walked into the school. Throughout the drive, Alexander hoped Allison would invite him to the parent-teacher meeting, but she didn't.

As Allison said, she winked at Mia, who then playfully lunged at her, wrapping her arms around her neck. "How dare you look down on me! I don't care, I won't study. I'll just stick with you forever!"
