The Billionaire's Forbidden Longing
Chapter 84 Never Try to Wake Someone Who's Pretending to Sleep

Preston took off without looking back. He was still stuck in the country; otherwise, he would've been outta here ages ago. Hayden got so mad he ended up in the hospital, and Allison jetted back to Novaria right after. Cleo looked worried. "Allison, if you go back now, your dad's gonna flip out!"

But Allison just smirked. "I've already got Preston's travel ban lifted. He should be on a plane by now!"

Cleo's eyes went wide, and she said, "Allison, you're a genius!"

They sat there, chatting and laughing, while Alexander and James were lost in thought.

James asked, "Mr. Carter, should I dig into Ms. Bennett's background?"

Alexander shook his head. "No, she'll tell me when she's ready."

As soon as Allison got off the plane, she headed straight to the hospital. Hayden was old and had a weak heart, so this hospital trip was pretty serious.

By the time she got there, Hayden's condition had stabilized.

After checking on him, Allison told Jonah, "Jonah, don't stress. I'll write two prescriptions for Grandpa. One for meds and one for a bath soak. Once his blood circulation gets better, his health will improve!" Hayden had a stroke, and half his body was numb. Allison planned to visit daily to treat him, but before she could finish explaining to Jonah, someone stormed into the room.

"Allison, is this your doing? You're always causing trouble. Grandpa treated you so well, and you tricked him out of his shares and hurt the Bennett family. You're so ungrateful!" Yasmin yelled as she charged at Allison like a madwoman. But Jonah stepped in. "Ms. Yasmin Bennett, Mr. Bennett hasn't woken up yet. Please, this is a hospital!"

Yasmin got even angrier and started cursing, "It's all because of you, Allison. You must've seduced Alexander to get him to take revenge on the Bennett family. Allison, you're nothing but a slut!"

Without missing a beat, Allison stepped forward and slapped Yasmin. "This is for Grandpa. He's on his deathbed, and you're here yelling and upsetting him."

Then she slapped her again, and Yasmin hit the ground. "This is for me. You've slandered me before, and I haven't even dealt with that. Now you're at it again. Yasmin, do you think I won't send you to jail?"

Just when Yasmin thought it was over, Allison slapped her again. Yasmin screamed, "Allison, you vicious woman! You'll die a horrible death!"

Allison sneered, squatting down to look Yasmin in the eye. "This is for the Bennett family. Instead of protecting the family, you're here spouting nonsense. Did I make Preston cheat? Is his illegitimate kid fake? Yasmin, you're eighteen now, but you're still a brainless fool!"

She stood up and told Jonah, "Jonah, get her out of here. Don't let her upset Grandpa!"

Jonah nodded and frowned as he dragged Yasmin out. Allison calmly checked the monitors by the bed and felt relieved when everything looked normal.

Looking at Hayden asleep, Allison said softly, "Grandpa, I did what you asked. The money's recovered, the company's separated, and Grandma's assets are safe. As for their grudges, I can't and won't get involved. The Bennett family has been a mess for years. Let them sort it out themselves."

Leaving the hospital, Allison ran into Blair in the lobby. She was carrying a thermos, probably bringing food for Hayden. Allison had to admit, Blair was quite a dutiful daughter-in-law, especially for a wealthy family. Allison really didn't want to chat with Blair, so she tried to slip away, but Blair called out, "Allison, can we talk for a bit?"

Allison turned around. It had been a while since they last saw each other, and Blair, who used to be the epitome of high society, looked like she'd aged a decade.

Blair's face was bare, no makeup to hide the sagging skin, heavy eye bags, and even some gray hairs at her temples. She looked like any other middle-aged woman. Allison didn't refuse and followed her to a nearby café. Blair started, "Allison, can you let your father go?"

Allison couldn't believe her ears. The first thing Blair said was to ask her to forgive Preston.

"Why?" Allison asked coldly.

Blair quickly replied, "He's your father. Even if he messed up, no parent is perfect. You're his flesh and blood. Seeing you hate him so much makes me feel like I've failed in life!"

Allison couldn't even muster a smile. She'd given up hope long ago, but the pain was still there. "Just because he's my father, I have to put up with his crap, even if it drags me to hell? Is that what you're saying?"

Blair's expression darkened. "That's an exaggeration. He's your father; he wouldn't harm you."

Allison gave a bitter smile. "Haven't you both done enough? Mrs. Bennett, don't use the 'we're your parents' card on me. You and Preston are unfit to be parents! I'm glad I left the Bennett family; otherwise, who knows what kind of mess I'd be in! You can tolerate Preston's cheating, his illegitimate kid, and keep playing the gracious, virtuous lady, but I despise you!"

With that, Allison stood up and left, not wanting to waste any more words on Blair. Despite all the evidence, Blair still believed Preston was innocent, so there was no point in arguing.

Blair, feeling dejected, went to Hayden's hospital room and found Yasmin crying. "Yasmin, what are you doing here? Weren't you supposed to be on a date with Oliver?"

Mentioning Oliver made Yasmin cry even harder. "Mom, what should I do? Oliver's family is really upset about our situation. His mom said they need to reconsider the engagement. My marriage to Oliver might be off! Mom, you have to do something!"

Blair was puzzled. "What happened to your face? Who hit you?"

"Who else? It was that bitch Allison. Mom, she hit me and insulted me. She's definitely taking revenge on us for what happened five years ago, taking revenge on the Bennett family! Mom, you can't let her get away with this!" Blair's expression turned cold. She hadn't expected Allison to be so bold. Yasmin was her sister, yet Allison had hit her so hard. "Don't worry, I'll make sure you get justice!"

Yasmin clung to Blair, her sobs uncontrollable, while a fierce hatred for Allison burned within her. If she could destroy Allison's reputation five years ago, she was certain she could banish her from the Bennett family forever now. Meanwhile, Allison went to Kismet's place. She had promised to treat Kismet once a week, but she was already two days late.

When she arrived at Serenity Manor, Kismet was overjoyed to see her. "Allison, I was so worried! How are you? Did they bully you?"

Allison smiled at Kismet. "Of course not. I'm my grandma's granddaughter. How could they bully me?"

Kismet laughed heartily, relieved to see Allison was fine. "Their mess isn't something you should deal with. I think it's that old fool Hayden's fault. Kieran was so much better, but he actually favored Preston. And look what happened, almost ruined the family! It's all karma, all karma!"
