Dawn broke with the sun's gentle rays sneaking through the curtains, casting a soft, serene glow upon the faces of the slumbering couple sprawled on the floor. In the tranquility of the room, the light added a touch of homely peace to their sleeping forms.

Hertha woke cocooned in Alaric's embrace, the sunlight teasing her closed eyelids until it robbed her of her drowsiness.

She slowly opened her eyes to a canvas of skin radiating warmth and a distinctly masculine scent.

Her mind buzzed to life, vividly replaying the previous night's passionate entanglement with Alaric. Her cheeks were flushed with the memory.

With clarity came the realization that her face was nuzzled against Alaric's chest, and his steady heartbeat was now drumming in her ears-strong and vibrant. Good Lord, this was no dream; she had actually slept with Alaric!

She had been with the man who had captured her heart at first sight, with whom she had fallen madly, irresistibly in love.

It was like hitting the jackpot!

Hertha was a mix of excitement and fear.

Her heart thrummed, pounding against her ribcage as she lifted her head. Alaric's arm draped over her, falling aside limply.

Propping herself up on her hands against the cashmere carpet, she turned to behold Alaric. He was closing his eyes and deep in slumber, showing no sign of waking.

His hair was in a punk style that framed his rebelliously handsome face-a face that made Hertha's heart skip a beat.

She looked at his high nose bridge and his alluring lips; his features and contour seemed to have been crafted to perfection, which fit Hertha's taste.

She tentatively touched his nose, then his lips; her heart was fluttering at the thought of those very lips having kissed her the night before, her cheeks reddening at the thought. Suddenly, Alaric stirred in his sleep, turning over.

Startled, Hertha quickly withdrew her hand and blurted out in defense, "Don't get the wrong idea; it was an accident. I didn't mean to touch you."

No response came. She peered closer and saw that his eyes were still closed, his breathing even. He was still sound asleep.

Hertha, feeling like a guilty thief, let out a relieved sigh and carefully rose from the floor. She was cautious not to awaken Alaric. Only then did it dawn on her that they had spent the night on the floor!

She had actually spent an entire night on the floor with Alaric!

And more than that had transpired.

Thankfully, the carpet was a clean and soft cashmere.

After a shower in the bathroom, where her clothes had dried on the balcony and was ready for her to dress.

In the living room downstairs, Beatrice, Remington, and Angelina were enjoying breakfast.

Angelina asked, "Shouldn't we call them down for breakfast?"

Beatrice, with a knowing smile, replied, "Let the young ones be; they must have worn themselves out last night. They're catching up on some much-needed rest. Let's not disturb them. They can join us for breakfast once they're up."

Remington kept his head down. He was focusing on his oatmeal and wisely steering clear of the women's conversation.
