Thank goodness he'd made the call to bring Rosalind back in time.

Zephyr didn't give Lysander a straight answer. Instead, he said, "Lysander, during these three years you've been out of it, it's been Rosalind who's been by your side. She's been the one feeding you, giving you your meds, bathing you. She's been there for every little thing."

With that, he turned to Rosalind, waving her over to join them.

Obedient as ever, Rosalind walked to the bedside, a sweet smile on her face. "Lysander, you're awake. That's wonderful."

Seeing Rosalind, Lysander's brows furrowed slightly. He found it hard to believe Zephyr's words. "You've been taking care of me all this time?"

Rosalind paused for a moment, glancing at Zephyr. His eyes, though weary, were fixed on her with unwavering certainty, bolstering her confidence.

She understood Zephyr's approach and turned back to Lysander, her reply both earnest and composed. "Yes, Lysander. Don't you remember? Your granddad arranged our engagement three years ago. As your fiancée, it was only right for me to take care of you after your accident. The medicine was bitter, but I didn't mind. If it would help you, a little bitterness was nothing to me."

Zephyr was pleased; Rosalind was catching on quickly. He always appreciated dealing with smart people.

Lysander, getting a firm confirmation, noticed the traces of medicine on Rosalind's lips, evidence that she had just been tending to him.

Could it really be that Rosalind had been the one looking after him all along?

Yet Lysander wasn't entirely convinced. "That accident... Did anything happen to Thalassa?" he asked, his voice tight with worry.

His memory was stuck on the moment Thalassa's house had been bombed. To save her from injury, he had tackled her to the ground, shielding her from the bricks and rubble with his own back. The last thing he remembered before blacking out was Thalassa's terrified eyes and her tears.

Even though he had protected Thalassa from the falling walls, he couldn't be sure that she hadn't been hurt.

Zephyr was irked. He had already told Lysander that it was Rosalind who had taken care of him, and yet Lysander was still preoccupied with Thalassa!

After a moment of contemplation, Zephyr spoke gravely, "The Thalassa you're so worried about is fine. You saved her, but when she heard you were in a vegetative state, she avoided you like the plague. She hasn't inquired about you once in three years. I don't even know where she's gone."

Upon hearing this, Lysander felt his heart sink with disbelief and pain. "What did you say?"

"I said, Thalassa abandoned you after finding out about your condition. How could she care about someone who's incapacitated? Such a heartless woman isn't worth your concern." Zephyr repeated his earlier statement, hoping to bring Lysander to his senses.

He couldn't fathom why someone as outstanding as Lysander would waste his life pining for a woman who had turned him into a dependent!

Zephyr was determined not to let the woman ruin Lysander's life.

Lysander's eyes narrowed as he grappled with heavy disappointment. His heart, which had been still for three years, throbbed painfully upon awakening.

"Lysander, don't be sad. I'll never leave you. I'll stay by your side forever," Rosalind said tenderly, her cultured voice soothing the tense air.

She moved closer, her hands clasping Lysander's with a mix of pity and passion, her gaze full of empathy and love.
