The Billionaire’s Secret Quartet (Thalassa and Elowen) -
Chapter 1499
Three years ago, she had this nagging feeling that Leopold's death was fishy, but couldn't pin down why. No one ever spoke up about it, and now, with Callum's words, her heart clenched, and her body tensed up.
Callum's hands were firmly on the steering wheel, talking about it as if it were just another day, but the slight tension in his voice betrayed his unresolved feelings.
"He called me the night before he died. He wanted to use his death to create a scandal, to pressure Lysander into giving up his CEO position at the Sinclair Group. Without Lysander in power, he couldn't control you anymore, and you'd be free. He was so naive; what's one life against absolute power? Even in death, he couldn't shake Lysander's hold."
Callum couldn't forget that night, the despair in Leopold's voice when he had called.
A young man, gone in the blink of an eye.
Thalassa's breathing stopped, tears falling, her heart trembling with pain. "So, it was me. I was the cause of his death."
She had always thought Leopold died from the stress of the accident, cornered by Lysander.
If Lysander had come forward to clarify that the accident was caused by the Sinclair Group's subsidiary, Leossa Electronics, due to manufacturing defects, and not Leopold, shifting all blame to Leossa Electronics would have been enough.
But Lysander refused to admit the fault lay with Leossa Electronics. It was only then that she realized Leopold couldn't withstand the public pressure and the outrage of the victims' families', leading him to his demise.
It turned out, Leopold's death was his own scheme, using his life to create a scandal in hopes of dethroning Lysander from the Sinclair Group- all for her freedom.
How could Leopold be so foolish? She wasn't worth his sacrifice. And how did he not see that even in death, he wouldn't be able to shake Lysander's foundation? Even three years later, Thalassa's heart ached as if being sliced open.
"Now that you and Lysander are strangers, it fulfills Leopold's last wish," Callum suddenly said, shifting the mood.
Thalassa was too deep in her grief to absorb his words.

In the back of the sleek limousine, Rosalind noticed the tension radiating from Lysander, knowing he had just seen Thalassa.
The incident she couldn't resolve was effortlessly handled by Thalassa in just a few words. While she could easily surpass Thalassa in her area of expertise, dealing with thugs wasn't her forte. That moment surely made Lysander think less of her compared to Thalassa, fueling Rosalind's sense of defeat.
Desperate to recuperate her image in Lysander's eyes, Rosalind maintained a gentle smile. "If it weren't for Thalassa, I would've had a hard time. She really knows how to handle bullies. Perhaps she was eager to rush home with Callum, which prompted her to deal with it."
Rosalind watched Lysander's reaction, noting his colder demeanor.
"Aren't you thirsty?" Lysander asked, his gaze fixed ahead, devoid of emotion.
Rosalind paused, confused.
"Have some water and stop talking," Lysander said.
Rosalind was at a loss for words. She got it; Lysander found her annoying.
All her effort was to make Lysander aware that Thalassa was with Callum, to make him despise Thalassa even more. But it seemed she overdid it, irking Lysander instead.
"Alright, I'll keep quiet," Rosalind said, taking the hint.
"Slow down and follow the car ahead," Lysander suddenly instructed the driver.
