Although Lysander and Rosalind had secretly agreed to marry, which was brokered by their families, Thalassa knew her story with Lysander was over. She had no intention of imagining a future with him as well.

The day he stood there and let Susan kill her to ease Rosalind's insecurities and remove the thorn from Rosalind's side, was the day Thalassa's heart was deeply wounded. Her hopes in Lysander crumbled into utter disappointment.

But realizing the truth didn't mean she was open to misinterpretations. She didn't want to drag Callum into this mess. Callum could've met and fallen in love with someone else.

She feared the rumors linking she and Callum might tarnish his reputation and deter women who admired Callum from approaching him.

So, she had to make it clear that her and Callum were nothing but acquaintances.

Lysander's gaze darkened, fixed intently on Thalassa.

Feeling his grip on her chin loosen, she held her breath and continued, "Callum and I haven't seen each other for three years. The last time you saw me with Callum and Reginald at the diner, was our first meeting in these three years to discuss this time's jewelry design project."

Lysander's brows furrowed, "Then what have you been doing these three years?"

Learning he was in a coma, she avoided him like the plague. Then why did she go through all the trouble to find Dr. Funke to treat him?

Thalassa tensed, her breathing quickened under Lysander's deep-set gaze.

Was he unaware that she had been caring for him for three years?

Wasn't she the one he had ordered to be kicked out of Royal Estates the moment he woke up?

Knowing to pack her bags but clueless about her constant presence by his side these years? "During the three years, I've been..." Her words were cut off by the ringtone from Lysander's phone. "Go ahead, answer it," Thalassa suggested.

She pushed herself up from the wheelchair's armrests, careful not to lean all her weight on Lysander. As she spoke, she freed her chin from Lysander's grasp, propped up her body, and stood up.

Lysander didn't stop her, his deep gaze following her every move, his breathing heavy. He had assumed she and Callum had been together these past years as lovers.

He just learned that there was nothing between them. So, what had she been up to all this time?

Realizing Thalassa and Callum had nothing between them, Lysander felt an uncontrollable surge of emotion, his breathing roughened.

The kiss she left on his lips suddenly felt warmer.

"The phone's about to stop ringing. Aren't you going to answer it?" Thalassa stood in front of Lysander. Noting his deep gaze fixed on her and his lack of intention to pick up the call, she urged him on. Lysander's gaze softened, and he slowly pulled out his phone from his pocket.

Thalassa accidentally caught a glimpse of Rosalind's name on his screen.

It was Rosalind calling!

Seeing that name, Thalassa felt a sharp pain in her heart as if nicked by a blade.

The pain made her grip tighten momentarily before she stepped away, leaving Lysander to his fiancée.

Lysander glanced at Thalassa's retreating figure but didn't stop her. He swiped to answer, his voice neutral, "What's up?"

"Lysander, I'm at Royal Estates. Why can't I find you?" came Rosalind's anxious voice.

Since Lysander woke up, Rosalind had been visiting Royal Estates daily to share meals with him-lunch and dinner without miss. Now, at lunchtime, Lysander wasn't home.

For over a month, aside from the occasional outing arranged by Rosalind, Lysander had always been at home.
