The Billionaire’s Secret Quartet (Thalassa and Elowen) -
Chapter 1543
Hertha was in a bind.
Donovan was insistent on her presence. But what about the kids?
Bridget had taken the day off due to a family emergency. There was no way Hertha could ask her to come back.
Relying on Spencer was out of the question. After yesterday's favor, his girlfriend had caught a glimpse of their interaction and wasn't too pleased. Hertha couldn't be the reason their relationship hit the rocks. And pushing off work wasn't an option either.
After much deliberation, Hertha decided to take the kids along.
Ethan had mentioned over the phone that he wanted to discuss something in person. Since it was Ethan, Hertha felt there was no cause for concern.
She planned to bring the kids to the diner, asking the staff to keep an eye on Julian and Helena while she and Ethan talked. After the discussion, she'd leave immediately.
With this plan in mind, Hertha, along with Julian and Helena, headed out.
Fortune Restaurant.
Thalassa, Astrid, and Dr. Funke had been waiting for over forty minutes. It was already 10 AM when Adelaide, who had agreed to a blind date, sent Thalassa a message canceling at the last minute. Thalassa's heart tightened at the message, worriedly glancing at Dr. Funke, unsure how to explain the situation.
"Is there something on my face?" Dr. Funke, catching Thalassa's gaze, asked with a hint of suspicion.
Thalassa quickly shook her head, stammering, "Adelaide messaged... she went to another blind date location and won't make it."
FAVOURITE GAMES ON
Upon hearing this, Dr. Funke's demeanor darkened, an aura of displeasure enveloping him. "Thalassa, you promised me two things in exchange for treating Lysander. Now that I've cured him, are you trying to brush me off?"
As he spoke, a formidable presence filled the air, making it almost palpable.
Thalassa, sensing the tension, looked past Dr. Funke to see Rosalind wheeling Lysander towards them.
Lysander, dressed in a sleek, handmade black suit, exuded an air of elegance and authority, even seated in a wheelchair. His striking features were tight with displeasure, his presence undeniably commanding.
Rosalind, pushing the wheelchair, appeared somewhat embarrassed.
As Thalassa was about to respond to Dr. Funke, the sight of Lysander stopped her cold, words failing her.
Astrid, disliking Dr. Funke's tone with Thalassa, stood up to defend her friend. "How can you say that? Thalassa has been diligently trying to find you a match. She's up late every night, scouring dating sites to not miss any potential candidates for you. How can you accuse her of not caring?"
"During Lysander's treatment, she indeed made every effort. But what about now? Barely after Lysander's recovery, she sets me up with a no-show. Isn't that neglect?" Dr. Funke argued.
"The one who should be grateful to you for my treatment is me," Lysander spoke up, his voice deep and authoritative.
Astrid, about to argue further, turned at the sound and saw the handsome man being wheeled towards them. She recognized him; he had visited Thalassa's apartment before, even mentioning her daughter, Celia Everhart...
Was this Thalassa's children's father, Lysander?
Dr. Funke, too, turned to see Lysander, looking well, though confined to a wheelchair.
After a brief assessment, he remarked, "Mr. Sinclair, it's been a month. Haven't you stood up yet?"
