The Billionaire’s Secret Quartet (Thalassa and Elowen) -
Chapter 1641
Emmeline clung tighter to Spencer's arm, snuggling closer to him, and with a smile, she said to Kimberly, "Yeah, after dinner, we're planning to catch a movie."
"Oh, is that so? I won't keep you then. You must come over for dinner sometime," Kimberly replied.
"Sure, we'd love to," Spencer politely responded, leading Emmeline away.
Emmeline rested her head on Spencer's arm, feeling incredibly sweet. Before visiting Hertha's place, she had felt a certain distance between her and Spencer. Despite their relationship and his proposal, Emmeline couldn't shake off the feeling that she couldn't quite reach his heart.
He was gentle with her, but something seemed to be missing.
Now, however, that distance had vanished. Spencer seemed more considerate of her feelings.
He kept her words close to his heart and prioritized her needs over appeasing others, refusing others for her sake. This made Emmeline incredibly happy and touched.
Her heart felt as sweet as if it was coated in honey.
After Spencer and Emmeline left, Kimberly's expression instantly fell. She turned to Hertha with a scolding look, "Sit down and tell me, who exactly is that man?"
Hertha meekly walked over and sat down on the sofa, sitting upright as if facing judgment, "He's just a boyfriend I recently met. We'll be breaking up in a few days."
She dared not raise her parents' hopes, knowing well that a future with Alaric was impossible.
"What? Just met and breaking up in a few days? What are you even saying? When did you become so casual? Relationships aren't something to be taken lightly," Kimberly burst out, visibly upset.
She continued, pointing her finger in
the air, scolding Hertha, "How I raised you, to value and respect yourself, because if you don't, you're the one who'll suffer! And the way you two entered the house, what
were you planning on doing on that
couch?"
At the mention of the couch, Kimberly suddenly realized she was sitting where Hertha and that man had been passionately kissing.
Embarrassed, she shifted uncomfortably towards the edge of the sofa, "You're washing the cushions today."
"I just washed them a few days ago," Hertha protested.
"A few days? You mean to tell me you and your boyfriend were like this yesterday when I wasn't here?" Kimberly's tone sharpened, making her point clear.
Hertha blushed, realizing her mother's implication.
Did her mother really think she and Alaric had done something on the sofa?
Today was merely an accident, a moment of lost control leading to their kiss.
When Alaric kissed her, it was like a lightning Strike, leaving her brain blank, lost in the moment, simply following her desires and bodily reactions, craving his kiss, even pulling him closer in response.
But, after cooling down, she realized how impulsive she had been.
Knowing Alaric was engaged to Georgia, merely going through a rough patch, it was inevitable he would marry Georgia.
And there she was, kissing Alaric as if they couldn't bear to part, which was utterly inappropriate.
Her mother's assumption that they had done more on the sofa was even more outrageous.
