The Billionaire’s Secret Quartet (Thalassa and Elowen) -
Chapter 1653
Even the sudden engagement to Rosalind went without explanation.
Right, what status did she hold, anyway? She wasn't anybody to Lysander, why would he feel the need to explain anything to her?
Thalassa snapped back from her gloomy thoughts, catching Callum's soft gaze on her. She blinked away her sorrow, tucking away her emotions, and said to Callum, "Mr. Gordon, your tea's ready. It's at the perfect temperature now."
Though she kept her tone polite, Callum noticed the puffiness of her eyes, aware she had been crying, clearly heartbroken.
But why?
It must be because of the engagement news between Lysander and Rosalind today.
In that moment, Callum realized, Lysander meant more to Thalassa than she let on, more than she admitted to having feelings for him.
Callum hid his own flurry of emotions, offering a small smile, "Alright, I'll have it then."
Thalassa quickly turned to serve Hertha and Alaric as well.
"Mr. Falconer, Hertha, would you like some tea too?" Thalassa offered politely.
Hertha wasn't in the mood for tea, her wide eyes fixed on Thalassa, filled with confusion, "Did Lysander really just leave you hanging?"
Just the mention of Lysander's name sent a sharp, burning pain through Thalassa's heart.
She lowered her gaze, pulling out a bag of sunflower seeds from the coffee table drawer, handing it to Hertha, "Have some snacks." She really didn't want to talk about Lysander right now.
Hertha, being Thalassa's best friend, understood her all too well.
Thalassa changing the subject clearly indicated her reluctance to discuss Lysander.
She had locked herself away, probably overwhelmed by thoughts of him.
Catching on, Hertha wisely didn't pursue the topic further.
Grabbing a handful of sunflower seeds, she cracked one open, noticing Alaric watching her with a scrutinizing look.
She offered the bag to Alaric, "Want some?"
Alaric smirked, taking a handful from her, joining in the snacking.
For a while, the room was filled with the sound of them eating sunflower seeds, the atmosphere turning slightly awkward.
Thalassa kept her eyes down, masking her sadness.
"Hey, Thalassa, have you had dinner yet?" Hertha suddenly asked, curious.
"No," Thalassa replied almost reflexively.
"This late and still no dinner? Come on, let's go grab some street food." Hertha stood up, linking arms with Thalassa, ready to head out.
Alaric stood up as well, "I haven't had dinner either."
"So, all of us to the street food stalls?" Hertha's eyes sparkled with the idea, turning to him.
"What's street food?" Alaric squinted slightly, puzzled.
"You don't know what street food is?" Hertha sounded surprised, teasing, "Wow, the Falconer family heir, so detached from common life, only knows about fancy places, unaware of the simple joys of us common folks."
Stung by her words, Alaric straightened up, "Well, it's about time I start adapting to common life. Let's go, show me these street food stalls. I'm curious to see what's so special about them!"
