The Billionaire’s Secret Quartet (Thalassa and Elowen) -
Chapter 1666
"You made it to the semifinals, congrats!" Hertha's voice bubbled with excitement as she relayed the fantastic news to Thalassa.
"Thank you," Thalassa replied, her smile audible even through the phone.
"Hey, how about we celebrate tonight?" Hertha suggested, about to propose hitting up a local BBQ joint before the memory of their last misadventure made her swallow her words. "Let's skip it. It's pretty late, and it's not exactly safe out. How about we save the big celebration for when you snag the championship?" Hertha offered.
"Alright, I'll give it my all," Thalassa didn't hold back, knowing well that she planned to leave nothing on the table for this competition.
Hertha was about to continue the conversation when the doorbell rang, cutting her off. "Someone's at the door, gotta hang up," she told Thalassa before ending the call. Opening the door, Hertha was greeted by the sight of her parents, a surprise that brought a wide smile to her face. "Dad, Mom, you're here!"
"Mummy!"
"Mummy!"
Before she could properly greet her parents, two adorably tender voices called out from below. Looking down, Hertha's heart melted at the sight of her two little cherubs, Julian and Helena, toddling over with their arms outstretched.
Their tiny hands grabbed at Hertha's jeans, big, dewy eyes looking up at her with pure love and adoration. Meeting their gaze, Hertha felt a surge of emotion, quickly scooping each child into her arms.
After planting a kiss on each of their cheeks, filled with maternal warmth, she said, "Julian, Helena, you're here! Mommy missed you so much."
"Mommy, I missed you too, so much I couldn't even eat my dinner," Helena's sweet, childlike voice said before she planted a soft kiss on Hertha's cheek.
The scent of baby powder filled the air, and Julian's gentle peck brought a spark of joy to Hertha's heart. "I missed you too, Mommy," he murmured, his little lips puckered in an adorable fashion.
"I'm sorry, my loves. Mommy's been
so busy with a new project at work, I haven't been able to visit you at grandma and grandpa's," Hertha spoke with a hint of guilt, making her way into the living room with the twins in her arms.
As she settled on the couch, listening to their cute stories about their time with their grandparents, Kimberly caught a glimpse of a exiting the elevator across the ball. Tall, with striking features, he headed straight to the apartment the
opposite Hertha's, unt
door and disappearing inside.
Kimberly recognized him
immediately as the man Hertha had briefly mentioned dating. Despite their initial approval, the relationship had soured when he expressed discomfort with Hertha's children, leading to their breakup.
Thinking about it, Kimberly felt a tightness in her chest. It was rare for Hertha to date, and to see it end over something so precious to her was unsettling.
Could there be a chance for reconciliation, considering the man lived so close? Were they somehow destined to overcome this hurdle?
With these thoughts swirling in her mind, Kimberly returned to the kitchen, her heart heavy with concern for her friend's happiness.
