The Blacklisted Rogue -
Chapter 15
Sally POV
Wow.
Who knew that my mate was such a sweet-talker?
My heart filled with warmth and I put my head on his chest to hide the blush that crept up on my cheeks. Goddess, why did I have to blush all the time?
"I would really like that." I said quietly into his jacket. "Thank you for getting me out of that cell."
"My pleasure."
Elijah patted me on the head.
"I have questions too." I whispered.
He chuckled.
"Shoot!"
I sat up and traced my fingers over his face.
"Why would you risk your life and leave everything behind to become a Rogue? I know that I'm your mate and that would motivate you, but still. You did it without an ounce of hesitation. Why?"
Elijah looked down in his lap and fell silent. I waited for a while.
"I'm sorry Sally. You are so strong and you deserve a strong mate. I will probably be a huge disappointment now."
I frowned, but before I could say anything to contradict him, Elijah continued.
"My father is the Gamma of the Midnight Pack. He is this strong and fearless warrior. He trained me to take over his position when I turned 18. But last year when I got my wolf the plans changed. My wolf was too weak. Any decent warrior could have challenged me
for the title and easily won. So I got demoted to Omega, was thrown out of the Gamma suite in the packhouse and forced to live in the servant's quarters. I'm pathetic, and I'm sorry if you hoped for a strong mate, but I'm not. I understand if you don't want to accept me as your mate now that you know."
"But I saw your wolf." I said. "Your wolf is a lot bigger than any Omega wolf I've ever met. An Omega wolf couldn't have carried me that distance, but you did."
Elijah shrugged.
"|
I guess that maybe I could've passed as a Delta and joined the warriors, but the Alpha wanted to humiliate me even more. He's been my greatest bully since we were kids." "He bullied you?"
I couldn't say that I was surprised that Alpha Richard was a bully. Anger spread through me at the thought of that jerk bullying Elijah though. Elijah smiled, but it didn't reach his eyes.
"I guess when your face looks like a traffic light, you are just meant to become a punching bag for the ranked wolves while catering to their every whim." Huh?
"Traffic light?" I asked. "They bullied you because of your face?"
Elijah looked away, but I grabbed his chin and made him look at me.
"No, no. Don't do that. Don't hide your face from me." I gently caressed the mark on his face. "I actually think it's really cute, and really sexy."
He stared at me incredulously.
"You do?"
I laughed, but felt a sting in my heart over the thought that my mate suffered so bad in that hellhole of a pack.
"I do. As for the rejection part..."
I took a deep breath and said:
"I, Sally Freeman, a Rogue, accept you, Elijah Black, as my mate."
Before he could say anything I pressed my lips against his. I felt something damp on my cheek and realized that Elijah was crying.
I pulled back and looked at him sternly.
"I want you. Don't you ever believe anything else! I was afraid that you wouldn't want me because I was a Rogue, so I guess we're more alike than we think. We're scared of rejection when we don't have to be. But you don't have to be scared. Not with me." Elijah pulled me into a hug.
"Thank you, Love." He whispered. "Try to get some sleep now."
His scent engulfed me and lulled me to sleep instantly.

George POV
After I settled in the Beta suite with Alex and started working with Alpha Jordan, we briefed Gamma Barry and Head warrior Joe on my backstory. They agreed to help me look for Sally. I didn't know where to start though. It had been months since I last saw her and she could be anywhere. After several dead ends, we finally found something.
Alpha Jordan minlinked all of us to meet in his office. He had found something on Sally that we could use.
I almost sprinted through the packhouse and reached Alpha Jordan's office long before Barry and Joe got there.
Alpha Jordan was sitting in his office chair.
"What did you find?" I asked.
Barry and Joe entered the office behind me. Alpha Jordan gestured for us to sit down.
"There's been a request for Sally's information on the blacklist."
My heart skipped a beat.
That could only mean one thing.
Sally was in trouble.
"From who?" I asked, afraid of the answer.
"When?" Joe asked at the same time.
"Three days ago." Alpha Jordan replied.
Dread washed over me. If the request was made three days ago, they would have gotten their answer. Maybe Sally was already dead.
"Which pack?" I asked, my voice shaking.
"Midnight pack."
The office fell silent.
I felt numb. It was impossible to believe it. Midnight Pack was the most ferocious pack in the country and if Sally ended up on their pack territory, they would have killed her. "Do you think there's a chance that she's still alive?" Barry asked.
"There's only one way to find out." Joe shrugged.
I stood up and turned to Alpha Jordan.
"Request permission to go to Midnight Pack to find my sister."
Alpha Jordan sighed.
"Request denied."
"What!" I yelled. "But you can't..."
Alpha Jordan held a hand up to stop my outburst and I shut my mouth, mentally kicking myself for lashing out at my Alpha like that.
"I'm not saying that we shouldn't go there, I'm just thinking that you are too close to this. If the Midnight Pack got Sally then they will want something in exchange for her."
Alpha Jordan turned to Joe and continued:
"Put together a team and go to Midnight Pack. I will send a message to Alpha Richard that you are coming. Get Sally out of there. If she is... um... no longer with us, try to find any remains of her so she can get a proper burial." Joe got up and put a hand on my shoulder.
"I'll get her back to you."
I gave him a grateful nod.
"Thanks man."
Joe and Barry left the office and I glanced at Alpha Jordan.
"I don't know how to thank you. I'm sorry if I was out of line earlier."
"You don't have to neither thank me nor apologize. I understand and I want to help. But let Joe handle this. I have something else that I need your help with."
I raised my eyebrows.
"Sure, what's up?"
"There's a pack that has reached out for an alliance. Their leadership is kinda rocky right now and they're looking to make a few changes. I want you to accompany me to meet with their Alpha to see what he has to say."
I was happy for the distraction. At least I wouldn't have to sit around and just wait.
"What makes their leadership rocky?"
Alpha Jordan smirked.
"You tell me. You were once a menber of that pack."
I gaped at him with wide eyes.
Red Ridge Pack?
They wanted an alliance?
Since both my father and brother had been Betas, I knew a lot about the relationships between Red Ridge and other packs. One of the reasons that I reached out to Alpha Jordan was because Red Ridge didn't have an alliance with Blue Eclipse Pack. In Red Ridge, Blue Eclipse Pack was considered a bunch of heathens, unworthy of being children of the Moon Goddess. I figured it was safe to come here for that reason. I was kind of a heathen in their eyes too. Uneasiness settled in my stomach.
"Are we going there? I don't know what will happen if I step on their territory again."
Alpha Jordan shook his head.
"No. I just got off the phone with Alpha Hudson and requested that we meet on neutral grounds. He agreed. We'll be meeting in Adona Forest tomorrow."
After we went over the final details, I left the office feeling nervous about the possibility that I would be seeing my brother again.
