The Bride Who Said No: Escaping the Shadows of Yesterday -
Chapter 141
Freya said, "You're only here because Kieran gave you a chance for my sake. Once our engagement is off, he won't bother with you anymore." At those words, Kara's face darkened.
Freya continued, "Besides, all the students at Summit University come from high society and elite families. They have their standards for friendship. You're a distant cousin of the Dawson family and not from Echo City but from some small town. Without Kieran and me, you can imagine how tough your days at school will be, right?"
Each word Freya said made Kara's face look more and more distressed. She could see how ready her classmates were to make fun of her.
Without the connection of Kieran and Freya, relying on her status as a distant relative of the Dawson family, Kara feared she'd endure four years of mockery and disdain in school.
Frightened by the thought, Kara immediately pleaded, "Freya, I know I've messed up. What should I do?"
Seeing Kara's fear, Freya said, "It's not too hard. I did go out with Mr. Tyler today, but it was about business. But even if I try explaining that to Kieran, he won't believe it. So, I'll need your help to vouch for me later." Kara was curious. "Vouch for you?"
Freya nodded. "Yeah. Prove I was at school all along."
Kara looked at Freya, hesitating. If she did as Freya asked, wouldn't Kieran dislike her, thinking she was a liar?
"You gotta make the call that's best for you. Do you want to chill out and enjoy your time at Summit University, or are you gonna live scared because of some beef between the Dawsons and the Suttons?" Freya laid out Kara's options.
Choosing the former might cost Kara some of Kieran's favor, but at least she wouldn't be ostracized by her peers at Summit.
Choosing the latter could lead to a rift with the Sutton family, and it wouldn't make Kieran like her more. Instead, she would lose his protection.
As a college student, Kara should understand the pros and cons.
After some thought, Kara bit her lip and said, "Okay! I'll do it!"
"That's the spirit. That's being smart."
Just as Freya and Luna were about to leave, Kara suddenly grabbed Freya's arm, saying, "Freya, if I just go back like this, people will talk. Could you, maybe, walk me to my class?"

Hearing this, Freya raised an eyebrow. 'Kara is always playing her little games.'
Luna fumed. "Walk you to your class? Kara, don't push your luck! You think we don't know you..."
"Okay, I'll walk you to your class." Freya cut Luna off, leaving Luna holding back her frustration. "Reya!"
"It's just a short walk." Freya shot Luna a reassuring look.
Even though Luna wasn't happy about it, she went along with Freya on the walk.
The teacher hadn't arrived at the classroom yet, but the students were all there. Freya and Luna escorted Kara to class, and Kara even made a point of chatting with Freya at the door. FindNovel
The students inside watched the scene and whispered about Kara's status. They had thought Kara was a country bumpkin from a small town, but she turned out to be Freya's cousin, and their relationship seemed quite close.
Considering how Kieran had called Kara away that morning, everyone started to believe Kara was someone of significant standing.
