The Cherished Wife (Noelle and Charles) -
Chapter 681
Noelle was taken aback by Charles' question. She looked at him with curiosity, her hand still resting on his forehead.
Hearing Charles ask in such a serious and hesitant tone surprised her as she had never seen him act so cautious and uncertain before.
Noelle pursed her lips, blinking as she studied him carefully. "What do you want me to ask you? Did you do something I wouldn't like?" she questioned, feeling genuinely curious.
Charles' expression turned complicated, which alarmed Noelle. She quickly sat up, looking at him intently. "So, you really did do something?"
"Let me explain. It's "
"Wait," Noelle interrupted, raising her hand. She took a moment to think. "Don't say anything yet. Let me figure this out. I've never seen you like this before. Actually, Charlie, whatever it is, as long as you didn't betray, I won't hold it against you. So, go on." Charles pressed his lips together, his dark eyes meeting hers. As Noelle gazed at him, an uneasy feeling crept over her, but she could not quite pinpoint why.
Gradually, her expression grew serious. "Aren't you going to tell me?" she prompted.
"You didn't see today's news?" Charles asked.
News?
Noelle hesitated, then glanced at the newspaper beside her before picking up her phone. "You know I usually only follow financial news..." she murmured.
She quickly searched online. Soon enough, headlines about Charles and Winter's rumored affair flashed across the screen, with gossip about them everywhere.
Noelle looked at Charles in disbelief while biting her lip. "Is this what you were talking about?" She waved her phone in front of him.
Seeing the serious look on his face, Noelle instantly realized that Charles was behind it. Being the clever person she was, she quickly deduced why he might have done it.
Raising an eyebrow, she tossed her phone aside and pretended to pout. "I'm angry now. The consequences will be severe. You'd better think about how to explain this to me!"

Noelle stared at him with mock indignation, making it clear that she would not let this go without a proper explanation.
Charles remained silent, his gaze fixed on her. The tension grew until Noelle finally let out a couple of fake coughs. She was unable to keep up the act.
She sighed in defeat. "Alright, alright,
I'm not actually mad. How could I be? I don't believe a single word those newspapers and reports say As if you'd be interested in Winter Shaw She's married, and there's no way you'd lower your standards like that. Besides, I know that in your heart, no one is more important than me."
Smiling, Noelle leaned closer to Charles, resting her head on his lap again. "But you still need to tell me why you did it." "You've figured it out?" Charles asked, slightly surprised.
Noelle rolled her eyes. "Come on, who would dare publish anything about you in Brookville without your approval? Unless someone's out of their mind, it's obvious you orchestrated this. Maybe others wouldn't know, but I would.
She nuzzled her head against his hand with a grin. "Now, tell me. Why did you do it?"
