The Cherished Wife (Noelle and Charles) -
Chapter 704
"I guess I'm just worrying too much. I didn't think so, but with all the drama blowing up, it's not just affecting Winter. It's hitting you too..."
"Grandpa, I get what you're saying," Charles said, quickly looking at Noelle. She nodded. "I'll talk to Grandpa."
Noelle grabbed the phone. "Hey, Grandpa. It's me!"
"How's everything with you, Noelle?" Samuel asked, relieved by the steadiness in Noelle's voice. It seemed like she was not bothered by the whole mess.
He had a hunch the rumors were not true because he trusted Charles, and he trusted his granddaughter even more.
"I'm good, Grandpa. Don't worry about this mess. Charles and I will handle it. There's absolutely nothing going on between Charles and Winter. Someone's just stirring the pot on purpose. It's a bit of a tangled web, and I can't lay it all out right now, but trust me when I say I won't let them get the best of me."
"Phew, that's a lot off my shoulders. I really shouldn't butt into you kids' business, but your dad swung by today, and Winter's still my granddaughter. Even if your sister's a little messed up, I don't think she's behind any of this."
"Got it," Noelle said as she ended the call. She let out a sigh and glanced over at Charles. "It's your call!"
"Okay." Charles pocketed his phone and wrapped Noelle in a comforting hug. "I've got this, but I know it's been tough on you lately."
"I'm fine, really!" Noelle laughed and gently pushed Charles back, taking in the cramped living room-a stark contrast to the spacious Phoenix Tree Residence.
The move had been a bit rough on her at first, but Charles had a knack for showing up every evening like clockwork. She had no clue how he managed to slip by Janet's spies undetected.
Their nightly rendezvous felt just like
old times. Still, she could not help feeling a twinge of guilt for the hassle Charles was going through trekking from the office to the Phoenix Tree Residence and then over to her place every single night.
"With Dad going to Grandpa, it looks like they're pretty much out of moves. You think they've figured out it's tied to the Bakers and Janet?" "They have!"
"How can you be so certain?" Noelle asked, her eyes wide with curiosity. It was not every day someone made connections that far-reaching.
Noelle knew Winter and Jade like the
back of her hand, and she was sure they would assume that Noelle was behind it all. However, strangely,
there was no sign of payback from the duo coming anytime soon.

Charles let out a soft laugh and playfully tapped Noelle's nose. "Jade's got a private eye on Janet's case, so she's too tied up to mess with you."
"My mom?" Noelle's eyes widened in surprise. "She doesn't even know Janet. Why would she go snooping around her for no reason?"
Little did Noelle know that Jade's investigation was not just on Janet. She had dug into the entire Baker family. However, Jade had no idea whether the private detective she had hired was any good.
Noelle eyed Charles, who seemed to
have an ace up his sleeve, her brow
knitting together before it hit her.
"Wait a second. Did you plan all this? How on earth did you guess my
mom would go after Janov
