Jeremy shoved Corinne away as if he was struck by lightning.

"Don't... Don't touch me!"

He used up what little strength he had to say that, and he was wheezing as if his oxygen was running out.

Corinne moved closer to him again. "What's the matter? I just saved you, yet you act like I disgust you? Don't you think that's very ungrateful of you?"

Jeremy said nothing. He simply lowered his head as if he was holding back something.

Corinne was confused and was about to reach out to raise his face when Lucas stopped her.

"Mister Lucas, don't stop me! Something's wrong with Jeremy, and I have to know what it is!"

Lucas looked down at her. "You're a mother of four children, yet you can't tell what's wrong with him?"

Corinne frowned with confusion. "You can tell?"

Lucas glanced at Jeremy coldly. "He must've been drugged, causing him to have a strong physical reaction. He's trying very hard not to lose his composure right now."

Corinne suddenly broke away and leaned against Jeremy, who was reacting abnormally. She thought of all the things she saw in this special examination room again...and she pieced everything together.

"Ahem!"

While she did not blush when she saw the video, her cheeks certainly reddened at this moment.

As the elder brother, Lucas could only pull her up at that time.

"Okay, let's head out and give him some privacy. This nurse won't be able to move for the time being, and I don't think the doctor will come back so soon. Let's just give Jeremy some time for the drug to wear off."

Corinne was dumbfounded. After being dragged away by Lucas for a few steps, she stopped and shook off Lucas' hand. "Mister Lucas, you go out. I'll stay here with him."

"Corinne, he doesn't even remember who you are!"

Corinne was calm and clear about what she was going to do. "I know. So what? It's enough for me to remember him."

Lucas frowned and wanted to persuade her, but he knew he would not be able to succeed in doing that. Thus, he simply turned and stepped out of the balcony to give the couple some space. After Lucas left, Corinne walked up to Jeremy, who had his head lowered, and said, "Look at me."

Jeremy kept his head lowered and clenched his fists tightly.

Corinne lifted his chin and saw how tortured he looked. His eyes and cheeks were red, his skin warm to the touch. He was gritting his teeth and unwilling to look her in the eyes.

Corinne wanted to make fun of him, but her heart broke when she saw how pitiful he looked.

"Is it that unbearable?" she asked him softly.

Although Jeremy was facing her, his eyes were looking elsewhere. He could not control his body's reaction.

He was able to keep his wits about him when with a woman he did not like. With Corinne, however....

He did not want to make a fool out of himself in front of her.

With his legs disabled, he was no longer the man he was. Thus, he was sure her image of him would be destroyed if he made a fool out of himself.
