Chapter 63

Jay-la POV

Both she and Margaret were waiting for their men to reach the pack-house. They’d not arrived home till nearly 6pm, clearly had spent the afternoon shopping. Jackson had made many calls to Margaret to make sure he was getting the things she wanted.

They’d both laughed at the giant teddy bear he’d been photographed with, and was carrying around. It was half the size of him. Ethan had snapped it and sent it to Margaret and captioned it “The Pack Beta, a big bloody ‚baby.”

Margaret had giggled at her brother’s words, and stated “

– Jackson’s such a sweetie behind closed doors.”

Jay-la chuckled herself and had Margaret send back “

Where’s the Luna’s photo, of her Mate.” Got back “Not allowed!!”

The two of them had stared at each other for a moment and then just laughed “I’m betting there are many.” Jay-la chuckled,

, “He just doesn’t want to be embarrassed. Got that Alpha image to uphold.”

She’d felt him come home, the minute he’d crossed the pack border and found Margaret standing next to her a few minutes later, all smiles. The two of them were waiting on the pack-house steps, it had started snowing again and she ducked into Nathan’s office to snag a jacket from his closet in there, to help keep herself warm. Knew he would like the sight of her in his jacket as well.

Her wardrobe clean out had been done, her final dress fitting had been attended as well, she opted for a dress that would be forgiving if her baby bump arrived before the Luna Ceremony did, not the one Nathan had bought her, it wasn’t suitable for a wedding dress, was brazen for this time of year and showed some skin, likely was going to have to wear that cape as well, not that it would provide that much protection if the wind was blowing, either.

Wondered right this minute as she stood out in the cold

•waiting for Nathan, if her dress was the right choice, but she had just fallen in love with it, and both his mother and hers had smiled and approved of it. Margaret and Rae-Rae had laughed and shaken their heads, but both said she looked good in it. Had bought a white hooded cape to go with it, in case it was too cold outside.

His car pulled up and she saw him get out and smile right at her, “You look good in my jacket.” He told her as he closed the door.

“It’s cold and I needed something to keep me warm.” She smiled right back at him. “Hope you don’t mind I raided your Alpha office closet.”

“I don’t mind.” He trotted up the stairs to her, slid his arms around her and smiled right down at her, “Now you and I need to go to my office for a bit.”

She was laughing as he picked her clean up. “Stop it, you’re just a horny bastard.”

Heard him roar with laughter, and then she was down on the couch in his office; right in his lap, with the office door closed. Watched his eyes glaze over for a minute and tried to get up only to have his arms tighten around her.

“Where are you going, my Luna?” He sounded full amused to her.

“To see what you bought.”

“Hmm, what if I didn’t buy anything at all?” he asked in a serious tone.

Jay-la turned and looked right at him “You did though, right?”

“I don’t know,” he shrugged, but then was smiling at her.

Still had hold of her and when she tried to get up, wouldn’t let go. Held her firmly in his lap.

“Oh, you did, and you don’t want me to see it yet.” She smiled right at him, happy he had actually bought stuff that he liked.

“Perhaps, or perhaps I bought only the crib and bassinet.” Again, he was back to being all serious.

“Hmm, I think you’re stalling me, so whatever it is you bought can get to the suite before me.”

“I am.” He chuckled softly “You’ll like it, it’s adorable. But before we get to that, I have to talk to you about something serious. You might get mad at me.”

Jay-la sighed “Really? If you thought I would get mad, why do it?”

He sighed “My meeting today, was with the Alpha Council.

Sophia’s punishment was laid out.”

“Oh, why would I get mad about that?”

“Because I didn’t tell you, that you were allowed to attend it as well. I made the decision not to tell you because I didn’t want you to attend it. I didn’t want you in a room with her.

You would have been, just so you know. I had to be.” Jay-la sighed heavily “You need to tell me things so I can make the decision to attend or not, myself.”

“I understand, i was very selfish today when the council called and let me know about it. I don’t want you anywhere near that woman to be honest Jay-la. It was not my call to make. You are right, but I made it anyway.”

She sat quietly for a long minute. Would she have wanted to attend it, thought about that. Shed not left the pack at all since being taken, “Alright Mr, I’m in charge. That is the last decision you make on my behalf.” Poked him right in the chest “You’ll be sleeping on the couch in future. You understand me.”

Nathan nodded “You’re not that mad about this.”

“No.I would have liked the choice.” She nodded “But I wouldn’t have gone. Not while I’m with pup. Won’t risk our little one to anything outside this pack.” And she would not be. “Though I wasn’t a good girl while you were gone either.

” She bit her l*p and looked up at him “Your father is very persuasive and how can I say no to the former Alpha?”

“Goddess, what did he get you to buy?”

She smiled “A house is all.”

Saw him frowning now, “Where?”

“Cape Cod.”

Heard him g***n “Tell me it wasn’t that beach house he’s been nagging me about for nearly a year now.”

“Um maybe, it was a beach house.”

“What did he promise you to get that beach house?”

Nathan sighed and shook his head.

“That we could go there in the summer for vacation, that yacht he bought is going to be anchored there. We can use that too.”

“And you worry about me wasting pack money, doesn’t that seem like a waste of money to you?”

“Well, actually it’s a good investment. When hes not there, pack members can go there and use it. Family vacations for all of them, a win win, for him and the pack members.” She smiled right at him, “Apparently Alpha Austin is going to use it as well, saw him there with a tall willowy woman.

Your dad thinks he’s finally going to find his Mate and needs that house to do so.”

“Thẻ man is playing you Jay-la. But you’re too sweet to say no to him.”

“No, I just think Alpha Austin has waited a long time to find his mate. Is patient has not caved into the pressure of taking a chosen Mate and producing an Heir, when he could have. He is still waiting for his Goddess Gifted Mate to come along. It’s sweet, and if your dad saw him there with his Mate, then how can I say no? Your dad thinks that house needs to be bought, so Alpha Austin can use it, for them to meet.”

“You got suckered by his foresight. He could have had Alpha Austin buy it Jay-la, not us. He wanted that house a year ago. I said no. Now he’s got you wrapped around his little finger.” Shook his head “How much did it cost the pack?”

“Not as much as the yacht.” She smiled at him.

“You’re bloody lucky I love you,” he smiled and slid a hand up into her hair, “K**s me and I’ll excuse it. Let the man be happy.”

Jay-la pressed her lips to his in a chaste k**s and then was up off his lap and headed for the door.

“Hey!”

– “What? It was a k**s, was it not? I want to see what you bought.” She smiled at him.

“Jay-la, do you want to know about Sophia’s punishment?”

She stopped walking and sighed “I guess so.” She looked at him as he walked towards her, she would rather think about their pup and that he’d finally bought something he liked for it. “Is it appropriate?”

“Yes, of course it is.” He nodded. “But it was a little odd, the meeting. She had more than one crime to be punished for, apparently. I wasn’t allowed the details, but Alpha Austin gave me her sentencing from just what she did to you, to Stephen, what she intended to do to all of us. And we will get a full account of her time behind wolfen bars in the royal kingdom, when it is known, as well as an estimated release date.”

He held out a folded piece of paper to her, “This is just our part of it.”

Jay-la stood and read it, charged with 6 crimes, her punishment a year behind bars for each crime and to wear a silver cuff the entire time. Not a nice thing to be severed from her wolf all that time. She could lose her wolf in that time. “Her children are they going with her?”

“No, I did ask on your behalf, she has already been stripped of her children, severed from her and b***d bonded into another pack, for better raising. Apparently; the council didn’t think she would be a good mother.”

*Her eyes turned up to meet his from the paper in her hand,

“Is she so cruel? That the council would do that.”

“Apparently so, I asked that very question of Alpha Austin, he nodded. I only heard we were the first pack to arrive for her sentencing to begin. There were others coming today to hear her be sentenced for other crimes. She is likely t spend a hundred years in a royal prison. I don’t know what kind of person she was, but not a good one. You read charge five.”

She had. It wasn’t a nice thought at all. That she-wolf really did hate her, when shed not even done anything to her other than that one hit, which Sophia had struck her first.

Who knew where the hate had come from? Perhaps her bringing up was just as terrible as she was. But reading charge six, she really hated Nathan too.

Handed that piece of paper back to him, “a hundred years?

“We’ll get the final sentencing when it’s been ruled upon. I didn’t argue with them, told them her head should not be on her body, got frowned at.” He shrugged “I guess I should have done that on the day.”

“Perhaps then no onè else would get any justice for her other crimes. I would not have liked it if you’d ripped her head off, being pregnant and all.”

“I couldn’t do it, Havoc wanted to, but I knew it was wrong.

Couldn’t kill a she wolf that is pregnant or in labour or had just birthed a pup. I would be just as bad as her. Though I would do it now if they let me.

She’s severed from her

children; they wouldn’t feel it.”

Jay-a put a hand on him. “Let it go, we’re good, safe and where we belong. She’s going to suffer, could well lose her wolf to those cuffs she now has to wear. Could well be wolf-less when she gets out.”

“If she comes anywhere near this pack when she gets out, I’m going to rip her head off. There will be no say in the matter. Just so you know.” He stated flatly as he folded the paper and put it back inside his jacket pocket. Looked right down at her “I will never not protect you from her. Our entire lives, I will protect you Jay-la, and our children and grandchildren all ways.”

She smiled up at him. “I know that, now what did you buy?

Saw him smiling once more. “A lot of stuff, kind of went a little overboard.”

“Excellent.” Jay-la chuckled “Now show me how crazy you went.” Grabbed onto his hand and pulled him out of the office and headed for their suite to see all the things he’d bought

He wasn’t kidding, she’d been kept in his office so that the ômega’s could run all his shopping up to their suite, though he had instructed them to just leave it in the nursery, not to unpack any of it. He wanted to put that crib together himself. Help her set the room up as well. What she found in there, was not only the crib, but a rocking chair, though it had to be put together. The picture on the box showed it was a light grey with dark grey upholstery, stated it was a contemporary rocking chair, it really was, didn’t even have arms on it, and it came with a little tufted ottoman as well.

•He’d bought a whole suite that matched his choice of crib, and a change table, all the boxes were lined up along the walls for her to see, though she could see whey Ethan hadn’t been allowed to take his picture, there was a giant wolf soft plush toy sitting in the corner, it was the size of a real wolf, and there were a bunch of little ones as well.

She looked at him and pointed to it, saw him grin, “How could I resist it?” He chuckled, “the triplets all got ones too, I pretty much cleaned out their store with those.”

Jay-la laughed, “I love it.” she picked one of the smaller ones up. It was soft and fluffy to hold. “What’s in the bags?

“Baby clothes, and stuff.” He grabbed her hand and pulled her over to sit down on the floor with him. There were a dozen bags there for them to go through, they turned at the sound of the triplets coming into the suite.

“I told Stephen to have Suzy bring them but go to their rooms first.” He smiled at her.

Only took a few minutes before she could hear the girls squealing in their rooms and then she had the pair of them dragging giant wolves behind them into the nursery, smiled at their little happy faces.

She looked at Nate and saw him chuckling at the girls struggling but didn’t help. “I got one too.” He laughed as Lilly fell down and the giant plushie landed right on her, but she noticed he was sporting a new jacket as well, dark blue bomber-style jacket with white sleeves and a black wolf embossed on the front of it.

Looked at Nathan and he smiled “Like I said, I kind of went overboard.”

She just smiled and they sat with the three children to go through all the bags of things that he had bought. She got a text message from Margaret, a selfie with that giant teddy bear Jackson had been carrying around the store.

He’d bought it and she was using it for a pillow, all smiles in the selfie, it read “It was for me, not our pup, lol.”
