Chapter 35 - Suicidal Thoughts

*Trigger Warning - Attempted Suicide and Suicidal Thoughts in Viola's POV*

* The Castle at Drakor; The Capital of the Chromos * Quentin POV

I decided to take a much needed break from the northern army and return to the castle at Drakor. I enjoy being a General and I fit in well with the northern army but I still miss castle life. I decided to fly in dragon form instead of the traditional route of traveling via the boat and then hiking up the mountain. I land on my room's balcony and walk inside to get dressed. I decide to go down to the main floor to see if I can find anyone as the castle seems to be eerily silent. I walk outside into one of the gardens and a goddess with raven hair and pale skin is sitting on a bench with her back turned to me. I can feel my dragon starting to get restless at the very sight of her. My feet carry me to her as I feel frozen in place. "Hi I'm Quentin. What's your name?" I approach her gently and lightly touch her back as I'm afraid she'll vanish before my eyes. She flinches at my touch and that hurts my heart. But when I touched her sparks shot through my fingertips and my dragon started calling out "MATE! MATE! MATE!" She turned around and her eyes were the most mesmerizing green eyes that I've ever seen. They were as green as the forest is in full in bloom.

"Um, hello. I'm Elena. I'm new to Drakor." She said looking up at me beneath her thick eyelashes.

"Well, perfect. I can show you around. What would you like to see first? A tour of the castle or maybe the market in town?" I'm all smiles now that she's talking to me. Viola POV

Lucian has left for the Kingdom of Cait and I'm alone at the castle. We were supposed to visit the orphan house today but that has been put on hold until he gets back. I'm falling into a dark place because of postpartum depression. I may have only been pregnant for a short time but I'm really feeling the side effects of the miscarriage. I pick up a handheld mirror and smash it against the wall. I can't stand to look at myself right now. A woman's job in life is to have children and I have failed twice at that. I pick up a piece of glass from the mirror and stab it into my wrist. I'm surprised Lucian can even stand to be around me anymore knowing that I have killed our children. I take the piece of glass and stab it into my stomach. I look around and blood is now flowing everywhere. Agenta walks in the room to help me with my morning bath and screams.

"Get the royal doctor immediately! Tell him the queen is injured and you stay with the queen while I find a messenger to go to the king." She grabs two maids that were walking in the hallway and tells the one to get the royal doctor immediately and the other to stay with me.

"I need you to go to the king and tell him that the queen has harmed herself by stabbing herself in the stomach and cutting her wrists. Can you do that?" Then she finds a messenger from the royal guard to send a message to Lucian that the queen has harmed herself by stabbing herself and to come back to the castle as soon as possible. Finally, she comes back to sit with me and rubs soothing circles on my hand.

"Oh, Viola! What have you done?" Agenta cries out.

"Agenta I just want the pain to stop. I feel too much right now and I can't handle it all." I say with tears in my eyes. The doctor walks in and quickly assesses the situation. He pulls the piece of glass out of my stomach and then starts to stitch the hole close.

* Bredon: Capital City of the Salona Kingdom *

Wolf POV

I've been waiting for Emily and her father to come for dinner and now they are an hour late. I'm worried that something has happened. I change into my dragon form and fly to her home so I can be there within minutes. "Walter, is everything okay with you and Emily? I expected both of you at the castle an hour ago." I say to Emily's father when he opens the door.

"She went to her room to get ready and I haven't seen her since." Walter directs me to Emily's room.

"Emily! Are you okay in there?" I call out standing outside of Emily's room. I don't get any response so I call out for her again. "Emily! Are you okay? I'm coming in."

I try to open the door and it's stuck because it has something, like a chair, holding the door knob in place. "Emily I'm going to kick this door in if you don't answer me." "WOLF! HELP ME!" Emily screams from inside the room.

That is all I need to hear and I kick the door in sending it flying off its hinges. As I follow the door into the room ready to fight I see a naked Lord Garbg holding Emily with a knife at her throat!

* Aberdeen Village: A Small Village in the Kingdom of Cait * Cyprian POV

Lucian and I are at Aberdeen Village to close down the brothel and arrest Lord Aragon. We find the brothel at the edge of town. It's disguised as a normal looking home. It looks small on the outside but inside are several different rooms. Most of them are sparsely furnished. Each room has a small mattress made out of straw with a thin blanket for covering, and no window so the only light in the room comes from a small candle on top of a nightstand. There's a man sitting out front who collects the money and then a woman appears to show the customer to the room with the girl. There's a total of 10 girls inside the small dirty hut. We arrest the man and woman and free the girls. For the girls that are under 14 we offer to send them to the orphan house in Drakor. For the girls over 14 we offer to help them find jobs within the empire. All of the girls seem to be grateful that they've been released. Once everyone is out of the building we set fire to it to make sure it's not used as a brothel again.

Our next stop is Lord Aragon's manor. I'm relishing this moment. I've wanted to arrest him for something since I found out Molle was a slave at his manor. This man absolutely disgusts me! We knock at the door and the maid answers the door. We push past her to find Lord Aragon.

"What is the meaning of this visit?" Lord Aragon says as he steps out of his library.

"You are under arrest for violating the law against prostitution and slavery." I explain as I walk towards him with handcuffs. I have a cocky smirk on my face as I place the handcuffs on him with his hands behind his back.

"That is preposterous! You have no evidence of that! It's not true." Lord Aragon exclaims.

"Do you not own the brothel in Aberdeen?" Lucian asks as he steps forward. His dragon can usually tell if someone is lying.

"No I don't own a brothel! How disgusting! I am a noble and a lord. I have rank in this kingdom!" Is Lord Aragon trying to intimate us?

Lucian starts laughing so hard that he doubles over. "Like I give a fuck about your damn rank in this pidly ass kingdom. I'm the king of the fucking empire you twit."

I drag Lord Aragon outside and throw him inside the cage on top of the cart with the other two we arrested from the brothel. Once he's inside the cage he starts crying. Lucian and I just laugh at him and walk away. He's going to have a rough time in the dungeon.

"Now what are we going to do with Lord Cranborne from Penshaw Village? He needs to be arrested as well." Lucian reminds me of the other frequent customer.

"Have no worries brother. Trolls took out Lord Cranborne and Penshaw Village. He's dead." I shiver at the memory of fighting the trolls and then burning their bodies.

A messenger from the royal guard runs up to us as we are leaving the manor.

"Sire. I have a message from the queen. She has self harmed by cutting her wrist with a piece of glass and then stabbing it into her stomach. She is requesting that you return as soon as possible." The messenger is nearly out of breath because he has been running so hard.

"SHE DID WHAT?" Lucian is conflicted between anger, sadness, and just wanting to be next to his wife.

"Go be with Viola. I can take care of this from here." I clap Lucian on his shoulder so he knows that I'll be okay. He immediately changes to his dragon form and flys away.
