The Dragon Brothers -
Chapter 44 - The Fight at School
* The Castle at Drakor; The Capital of the Chromos * Lucian POV
I have begun to send letters with messengers out to all the heads of state: The king of fairies, werewolves witches, dragons, elves, gnomes, centaurs, bear shifters, vampires, and unicorns. In order to defeat Maeve and her army of minions they would need help. I wonder what else she is hiding other than an army of trolls. Could she have already got to the gnomes and formed an alliance with them? Will she have an alliance with demons? Then there is going to be getting everybody to come to an agreement on how to attack. That will just be painful. I think before this gets started I need to spend some time with the family. Maybe a picnic lunch with Viola and the kids?
I'm about to get up and find Viola to see what she says about surprising the kids with a picnic after school when one of their palace guards knocks on the door to my study.
"Edward, did something happen at the school? Are the kids okay?" I know this can't be good if he's here without them.
"Angelus got into a fight at lunch. I'm not sure what it was over as we try to stay away so the kids can have a normal school experience. But he's in the Priest's office and they're wanting to speak with you." Edward explains to me. When I get to the Priest's office I see three boys, I take note that one is Corporal Hoods' son, another boy with his father, and Angelus is sitting by himself just staring at the floor and doesn't even flinch when I walk in.
"Your son attacked my son for no reason! He's a bully and I want to see him properly punished!" Hoods states as he stands up as soon as I walk in. The other father joins in agreement.
I completely ignore the assholes to my left as my first concern is my son. "Angelus what happened?" I kneel down in front of his chair as I lift his chin up so he looks straight into my eyes. I noticed the tears in his eyes that he's holding back from escaping. He turns his head not answering my question.
"We already know what happened. We have two accounts and they all perfectly match." Corporal Hoods speaks up like I give shit.
"Father Godfrey, is there somewhere I can talk to my son in private?" I ask the Priest.
"Yes there's a meeting room one door back on your left." Father Godfrey says letting go of a loud sigh hoping to get this taken care of soon. Well, I'm not on his timetable and my son deserves all the time in the fucking world. These assholes bug the shit out of me. This is why Viola deals mostly with the school. They only contact me when it's something bad.
I take Angelus by the hand, lead him into the meeting room, and we sit down in chairs opposite of one another. "Angelus what happened? I know you didn't just pick a fight with TWO other kids for no reason. No one else is here you can talk to me."
"When I came into the lunchroom they were bullying Rohesia. Alloys Rolfe had grabbed her lunch and stomped on it. So, I pushed him down to the ground then Thomas Hoods started yelling that I needed to step down or he was going to tell his dad and I started laughing. Then he said he didn't know what I was laughing at because it wasn't like you were my real dad and that's how the fight started. I punched him and then Alloys jumped on me. Am I in trouble?" Angelus said, trying to keep from crying; which I know is because he's more afraid of the punishment than the crime but that's neither here nor there.
"I decided to ignore his last question for now. What Thomas Hoods said about me not being your real dad did Corporal Hoods say the same thing when we were on the training field?" I ask, watching Angelus' reaction closely. He instinctively pulls his knees up to his chest and tries to bury his head into his knees as he nods his head yes.
"What exactly did he say?" My level of anger is slowly starting to boil over.
"He said he better never hear me refer to you so informally as dad again because it was disrespectful and I needed to show my gratitude for you and Queen Viola adopting me. I'm sorry I never meant to disrespect you. I love you both and I do really appreciate everything you've done for both Sia and I." With the last two sentences Angelus broke down into full on sobbing and my anger boiled over into full on rage. But before I could give into the rage I had a nine year old little boy in front of me that needed comfort and so I picked him up, set him in my lap, and rubbed soothing circles on his back until his sobs turned into hiccups and then dissolved from there. Now it was time to destroy Hoods.
* The Castle at Arkala; The Capital of The Neopatras Kingdom * Elena POV
Quentin left me alone at the castle to go fight off the trolls. I feel like everywhere I go I have a great big scarlet letter on my chest that everyone, especially other women, can see. I'm tired of feeling this way so finally I leave the castle and start talking to the soldiers that Quentin left stationed here. They smile, flirt, and laugh with me. Being around men is what I'm used to; it's being around women that I'm scared of. Women can be so catty, spiteful, and gossipy. Men on the other hand are what you see is what you get. So, I danced with the men, I watched them swordfight, drank beer with them, and I even played cards with them. What I didn't know was that women were watching me every chance they had from windows in the castle and then would gossip about me to each other. Before I even knew what was happening the whole town had formed an opinion on me based on gossip, some truth and some lies.
* Bredon: Capital City of the Salona Kingdom* Wolf POV
I come back to the capital to face Emily with heartbreaking news of her once beloved home village.
"Emily, I have some bad news from Roselake. Mr Gravese, who owned the bookstore, has been laid to rest; however, the bookstore did make it and his nephew is going to start running the business now. Your good friend, Mrs Fishere who owned the seamstress shop, lost her life when her building was burnt down. The tavern was severely damaged but is still standing and the home that you used to live in with your father was burned down to the ground. When we got to the village the trolls had all left and had congregated at the manor. So, we burned the manor down and killed the trolls as they tried to get out." Emily falls into my arms crying devastated at the loss. "I have to go back to Drakor to meet with the heads of state about this problem with the trolls. If you would like, you could go to Roselake and help them rebuild. I left a small group of soldiers behind and I can have more soldiers travel with you back there to ensure your safety. If that doesn't appeal to you we need to start building a school here in Bredon." I hate seeing her cry so I'm just throwing suggestions out there
* Kingdom of Cait * Cyprian POV
I'm back from visiting the villages that were damaged from the trolls and all villages now have soldiers posted in them. Now, it's time for Molly and I to meet with the King and Queen of the Werewolves. We're going to have dinner and then the King and I will discuss a treaty alliance between the werewolves and the Chromos Empire.
We are sitting around the dinning table enjoying medium rare steaks, potatoes, and carrots with bread. Molly tried to pick a dinner menu that would appeal to the werewolves. The dinner conversation is nice but my thoughts keep drifting back to Molly. She is looking as beautiful as ever but of course is barely nibbling at her food. Try as I might, I have the hardest time trying to get her to eat more. But she at least placates me by trying to eat most of her protein. She just seems so tiny to me.
"So, tell us more about yourselves? How did you meet?" Queen Gracia asked.
"Oh, Cyprian was visiting my lord and I was a servant and he stole me away." Molly said with a smile. She looked at me for approval of what she said and I smiled back. I wouldn't have cared if she had said that she was a slave but if she wants to keep that part secret for personal reasons that's fine too.
"What is your story? How did you meet?" Molly asked the Queen.
"Well, I was a rogue and taking care of my younger sister when I first met Justus but he helped me join the pack in the territory and then get a job as a servant at the castle so I would always be around him." She laughs at the memory as she grabs King Justus' hand on the table.
"So, I, um, hope it's okay to ask this." Molly takes a quick glance at me and I shrug my shoulders. I could really give a fuck what anyone thinks. "When you first started with King Justus did you ever feel, or worry about, embarrassing him?" I'm surprised by her question as I never knew this to be a problem for her.
"Oh my yes! All the time! I was constantly afraid I was going to make some social faux pas and as soon as we were alone he was going to rip into me and regret having me for a mate." Queen Gracia answers.
King Justus turns all the way around in his seat and leans back. The look of astonishment on his face is priceless. "Really? Why am I just now learning this?"
"Because you're a typical man that never notices anything." The Queen retorts.
"King Justus I believe this is our cue to leave gracefully while we still can." The king and I take our leave to discuss the treaty alliance.
