The Elemental Sisters: Spirit -
Chapter Thirty Seven (Akasha)
Tyr had barely blocked the blow from the man that had attacked him. I rushed to help him, but he had already knocked out the attacker.
Men surrounded us, none of them were the ones loyal to Tyr. I drew my weapon facing the enemies in front of me while Tyr faced the ones behind me. I looked around at the chaos that had erupted around us in disbelief. Karm and Ela frowned as they stood beside me, I sent them the energy they needed to help me fight them off.
Loyal soldiers looked confused as their comrades turned their blades on them, barely blocking the blows. Most of Tyr's soldiers were falling to the ground, injured, before they could comprehend what was happening.
Gia and Ari made their way to the injured men, blocking blows with their swords and dodging attacks when they were able to. When Gia knelt beside the first man to help them, Ari positioned herself between them and the battle, watching her back. Men continued to attack them, but Ari could keep them at bay with her fire.
One man charged at me. I blocked his blow and countered, my sword clashing with his. I pushed harder on my sword to send him backward as another of the men ran towards us. Tyr blocked the second sword before it hit me. "They are being forced to fight us." Tyr bit out as he blocked another blow. "My brother has ordered them to, or their families will be killed." He finished as he pushed the man away.
"Try to not to kill anyone." I thought to my sisters, I wasn't sure where they were, but I knew they could protect themselves.
"Will do our best but not making any promises." I heard Sunama respond in my mind.
"Is Huricana with you?" "Yeah."
I sighed with relief at least my sisters were ok. I looked around for Taoen. It was my job to protect him, and I hadn't seen him since the fighting started.
"We have to put a stop to this; they are doing it because they are being forced." Karm shared angrily.
A sword grazed my arm while I was distracted, I turned and swung at the man as he jumped back. I scanned the battle, continuing my search for Taoen. Finally, I spotted him; he was a few yards from us. He didn't look like he needed any help; he was skilled with a sword.
Tyr was fighting four men and managing to t keep them at bay. Was this all a plan for Prince Uda to get rid if his brother?
Ela and Karm pushed the men away from Tyr, picking up swords from the fallen so they could help as fight as well.
I focussed on gaining control of our attackers' spirits and willing them to sleep. I watched as Tyr fought against another onslaught of soldiers, his sword blocking and striking as he knocked me out, he was a skilled fighter, but it was like he was the primary target. He'd clear one group for another to form around him.
I hated that his own brother had betrayed him; I didn't like Prince Uda, but this is the last thing Tyr would've expected.
I couldn't imagine the betrayal I would feel if a sibling turned on me and planned to have me killed. Growing angrier, I scanned the area for his traitorous brother.
I spotted Prince Uda off to the side. He was sitting on his horse, smiling while watching the battle. I willed myself to go invisible and made my way towards Uda while my other two sisters moved towards Ari to help protect Gia as she made her way to the injured men and bandaged and treated their wounds. I thought if I could get to Prince Uda, I could use him to get the fighting to stop.
"Help protect my sisters, please." I asked Karm and Ela, who nodded and headed over to help shield them while Gia helped the wounded.
I reached up and grabbed Uda off his horse, throwing him to the ground. "You can't do this. I am the future King." He yelled at me.
I leaned over him as he tried to get up and punched him in the face. His face reddened, and he used his weight and flipped me onto my back, pinning me to the ground.
He smiled down at me, "You dare attack me?" he punched me in the stomach, hitting my healing wound. I coughed and bit back tears.
"You are a traitor; how could you turn the army against your brother?" I spat at him, moving to release the dagger from my sleeve.
He leaned down closer to me, "You will be my queen whether you like it or not, it has been decided."
"Over my dead body."
The words left my lips as the dagger sprung free; I stabbed him in the thigh. He roared in pain and grabbed my wrists, pinning them above my head; I struggled to release my arms, when I could not, I raised my knee and hit him in the crotch.
"Do that again and you will regret it." He promised.
"Let me go."
"I quite like this position." he smiled as he moved closer to me so I could feel his body pressing up against mine.
"Get off of me." I yelled, renewing my efforts to get out from under him.
"Maybe I should take you here? My brother seems to have taken a liking to you. I wonder how he would feel about you if I took a turn." he smirked.
Panicked, I let my power to take over and willed his spirit to release me.as soon as he released my hands, I flipped him onto his back, "You ever touch me again and I will chop off your manhood." I promised, as his eyes widened, and I punched him in the face repeatedly until he was unconscious.
From the corner of my eye, I saw a blade coming for my head and I closed my eyes, waiting, but when it didn't strike, I looked up and saw Ezryn. He had blocked the man's attack.
I jumped up out of the way as another man swung at me again. I pulled my sword from its sheath and pointed it at Prince Uda's face. While Ela and Karm, who had been busy helping protect Gia, vanished and reappeared beside me. "One more move and I will kill this traitor." I threatened as the man stilled.
"Tie him up." I ordered the man as I untied a rope from Prince Uda's saddle and threw it at him. The man did as I said, as Ezryn helped watch my back.
"We need to get this under control, the men are only doing this because they are under duress." Ezryn said over his shoulder.
"I thought the fighting would have stopped once we got Prince Uda." I stated as I looked around me, not one soldier seemed to care that we had Prince Uda, they just continued fighting.
"Maybe Prince Uda was acting on someone else's orders?" Ezryn frowned as he followed my gaze.
"Do you see Bram, or Ward?" I asked him. I looked over towards Tyr. He was fighting his way over to us, but was still outnumbered. Someone really wanted him dead.
"Yes, why?"
"Get them to watch these two. I have an idea.” I announced, but first I had to help Tyr get away from the crowd that was forming around him.
I cringed as he narrowly dodged a sword that was swung at his neck.
"Ela and Karm, please help him."
They nodded and vanished and reappeared by Tyr. They picked up weapons from fallen soldiers and helped Tyr fight. It wasn't enough he was still losing ground. I focused on the spirits around me and sensed some that felt familiar, the dark spirits that I had connected with back at the castle. Had they followed me?
I watched as Tyr again narrowly dodged a killing blow and against my better judgement; I connected with the dark spirits and ordered them to help Tyr.
When they went to help shield Tyr, I could feel them siphoning my energy, I watched as they fought beside Tyr, killing the soldiers that had advanced on him, I could feel the darkness creeping in, the cold of it sending chills through me. I just needed to hold on long enough for Tyr and the spirits to clear the group that had surrounded him. I fought to stay in control of the spirits, Tyr looked at me and picked up his pace, trying to clear the soldiers away as quickly as he could. He must have read my mind again. The last of the crowd fell, and I severed the tie to the dark spirits, only they didn't want to let go. They latched on to the anger I had towards Prince Uda. I focused and pushed them away as much as could and with difficulty I severed the connection with one spirit. The other, however, refused to let go.
I could feel the darkness continue to climb. Ela and Karm appeared beside me, and Karm reached for the dark spirit and grasped his essence and ripped him from me, I felt a sharp pain and then relief as the connection was broken. I stumbled and Ezryn grabbed my upper arm helping steady me.
"Are you okay?"
I nodded, "Yes, I just used up too much energy." I told him as I called back my energy from Ela and Karm.
"There are more soldiers heading towards Tyr. I think he is their main target." Ezryn informed me.
"They are focused on him. We have to put a stop to this." I told him, as I watched Tyr become surrounded once more.
