Chapter 56

Brad pov

The woman made me sick, but I just couldn’t kill her not in front of the kids. The kids looked at him with varying reactions and he tried to be as friendly as possible.

“Hey kids, I’m here to get you out of here.” Brad looked around and wasn’t able to get any identifying smells from the kids.

“Are you from the council?” Brad looked to see who was asked him that and it was a child around the age of twelve, if he had to guess.

“He’s an alpha Wolf,” his wolf told him. It is rare for wolfs to surface this early, but it seems like trauma has make his come forward.

“Yes and no,” Brad answered honestly.

“What do you mean?” He asked as the kids looked at him in fear.

“My name is Brad. While I’ve always known the council was corrupt, I had no idea it was capable of doing this. We broke up an auction recently and it led us here, I’m here with my alpha from the Midnight Howlers pack.”

“My father talks about that pack,” the boy said. Brad nodded,

“Alpha Killian is here beyond the territory. Can you help me get the kids out of here young alpha?” The young boy nodded.

“Okay I am here with six other wolf’s dressed just like me, but I will lead you out to the Alpha. Gather up all the kids.”

“I have to get all of the kids out of here,” Brad mindlinks Dustin.

“Need help?” Dustin asked.

“Yes just you though, the kids don’t trust the council, just incapacitate anyone that passes through here.” Brad gets an affirmative while the kids are rounded up.

“All right, what’s the quickest way out of here?” Brad asks while grabbing the Doctors badge and hauling her into a tiny cage the kids themselves had been in. The kids seem to like that and an older child spoke up.

“There’s a back entrance this way.”

“I think I am leading the kids out of some kind of a back entrance, keep your eyes peeled,” Brad links Killian.

“What back entrance?” Killian asked. Brad wasn’t able to respond as the kids had went out the way he had came and Brad had to quickly follow them. The kids quickly but silently walked down the hallway looking around diligently until they came to a stop in the middle of the hallway. Brad watched as they lined up by the ventilation system and before he could stop them removed a large panel. Brad moved closer examining it.

“It will be a tight fit,” his wolf told him and he agreed. Dustin came running toward them and the kids seemed scared, but he was able to calm them down.

“It’s okay kids he’s with me. I’ll go first,” Brad looked to the alpha wolf and Dustin speaking to them both. “I want you to wait two minutes and then start sending kids after me, then go last. Can you handle that?” Brad asked him. The little boy nodded,

“Yes Brad, I’m an alpha I can do it.” Brad hands the boy a silver knife so he would feel more secure as he could tell the kids were scared.

“Little alpha if Dustin does anything that you don’t like feel free to stab him, you know the major arteries right?” Brad asked and the boy nodded. Brad could tell that it settled the kids leaving them with a way to protect themselves.

“What about me?” Dustin asked right before Brad went into the vent. Brad sighed heavily,

“When the last kid goes in closes the vent and go back to the surveillance room.” Dustin nodded and Brad headed into the tight ventilation shaft. He immediately tapped into his wolf as he had no idea how long he had until he got to the other side or what was waiting for him. It was dark and while he had his wolf the kids didn’t and he was worried for them. Brad just hoped there would be light at the end of the tunnel for them to follow.

Brad finally reached the end of the shaft and he heard some movement at the end. The kids were starting to come through, he had to quickly neutralize any threat. There were no holes in this end of the tunnel, so he quickly bust open the door and looked around. Brad stepped out of the shaft and there was a bit of a jump, it seemed the lab was on the second floor. Brad was trying to figure out how the kids were going to get down when two things happened. He got a mindlink from Killian,

“We see you and are headed your way.” Then as he was too surprised by hearing his alpha in his head Brad had missed the guard coming up behind him. Brad was tackled to the ground from behind and the wind was knocked out of him. Brad tried to get the upper hand, but the guard was gaining on him. He was afraid he was going to loose when Brad felt Killian’s aura, and so did the guard. The guard submitted allowing Brad to get out from under him. Brad got his bearings, checked to see if the kids were looking, the coast was clear so Brad took out his silver knife and stabbed him in the neck killing him instantly.

Killian came up just at the same time a tiny head popped out of the ventilation shaft. Brad wasn’t able to find anything so he simply held out his hands and the kids had to jump down to him.

“Can you get the dead body out of here?” Brad asked of his alpha and Killian was already on it.

Axel came to assist and when a small group of kids came down one of the alphas got them out of there so the kids weren’t exposed if another guard came upon them.

“How many kids are left?” Brad asked Dustin after Axel had came back and Killian had just left with the second group.

“There are only about six left.”

“I think we have a problem,” Seth mindlinked him.

“What is it?” Brad asked.

“A vehicle is coming up on the property.”

“Dustin we need to try and hurry but don’t scare the kids, we got a bogey coming in, alert the team.”

“Roger that.”

“Nothing can ever go smoothly,” Brad muttered as he caught another kid.

“What?” Axel asked and he didn’t want to scare the kids to Brad just gave him a look that meant trouble was on the way. Killian had just came back and though only two kids had came out Brad sent him off. They were the youngest in the group that he had seen. When he had left Killian spoke up.

“I saw some guards possibly doing shift rotations you think you are okay here while I check it out? Killian asked him. Brad quickly thought about the missions him and Leroy went on together. If he had been here Leroy would have been in the woods where Seth is and sniping the guards off one by one. Brad missed that, but the man was a sick bastard that experimented on people.

“Yes, but bring in Holden to cover for you.” Killian took off and Holden quickly came running up. Brad wondered where they were stationed as another kid came jumping down into his arms.

It was slow going, but they finally got the last of the kids ushered out of the shaft. Sadly their work wasn’t over as there was still adults in there. There wasn’t much update about who arrived twenty minutes ago. When the alpha wolf came down Killian knew who it was immediately.

“You are Alpha Kane’s son Xavier, your father has been going crazy.”

“You must be Alpha Killian, we need to go,” the little alpha said and the group took off into the woods.

Brad jumped back up the ventilation shaft and shimmed back the long trek through and when he finally came out the other end he expected to see Dustin. When Dustin wasn’t there Brad mindlinked him,

“Where are you?”

“Went back to the surveillance room.” Dustin told him shortly. Brad went and found his bag with the explosives in it. C4 is very stable and Brad placed it all throughout the lab as planned. He also picked up the doctor who was still unconscious, which he found odd. Brad walked back to the hallway placing C4 throughout needed areas of the building. He entered the room only to find the alpha of the pack and elder Thomas as well as several guards holding down his men.

“Some one want to tell me what’s going on here?” Brad demanded as he tossed down the woman.

“You get out okay? My men are held hostage.” Brad mindlinked.

“No, they stopped us, we will be a minute so stall.”

“Mindlinking your precious alpha? Even he can’t help you now,” Elder Thomas sneered. Brad just laughed.

“Even I can see the fear in your eyes Elder,” Brad sneered the word Elder. “You know who his son is.”

“It’s a lie!!!” The elder screamed.

“Is that why you started this goddess awful place? For an army against him?”

“With my army I will be stronger than any King!” Elder Thomas said delusionally. Brad laughed,

“Yeah I would worry about getting out of here alive,” Brad held up the detonator device,

“I rigged this whole place with C4.”

“You lie!” Brad just smiled as he could see fear in his eyes and those around him except for his men who smiled with him. They were his kind of men, they were ride or die.

“Let’s find out, my men want to.” Then Brad could feel it, Killian’s aura and Brad’s grin would have matched his wolf’s. “Too late.”

A giant alpha werebear that was clearly Axel tore through the doors. Then Killian’s giant wolf came through the doors. His aura was stifling even for Brad and it was clearly directed at Elder Thomas. The peons all fell to their knees, only Brad and Elder Thomas was left standing.

Brad couldn’t be more shocked when he saw Elder Brooks walk through the door who was emitting an aura just as powerful as Killian’s. The two of them pushed their aura onto Thomas forcing him to submit. The old Elder fought it every inch of the way, but the man was finally on his knees. Killian then shifted back to his human form. Killian went and grabbed his g*n and then Elder Brooks spoke.

“Elder Thomas your crimes go against everything you swore to uphold, therefore you are to be put to death.” Killian leaned in and whispered something in his ear and then pulled back and shot him on the head. When his body fell to the ground Brad looked to the pack alpha,

“What about that dummy?” Killian sighed,

“He comes with us. Alpha Kane will want the person responsible that took his son.” The alpha’s eyes looked wide,

“I hade no idea.” Killian laughed,

“I doubt he will care.” Brad smiled Kane was ruthless to his enemies, that alpha was dead.

Killian pov

The SUV was driving away from the compound when Brad got a wolfish smile on his face. Then he pushed a button on a remote control and the compound was blown sky high. His wolf smiled along side Brad, but Killian had to be the alpha and be disapproving.

They were able to get all of the adults out of lab as well as shelves of documents of the nasty s**t done to innocent people there. Killian was worried about what to do with all of the people that were coming back to the pack with him. Lili was on bed rest and didn’t need any more stress. They were both feeling guilty about Kara and not catching the signs.

The drive to the airport was relatively short Killian pulled up alpha Kane’s phone number and decided it was best to give him a call right away.

“Alpha Kane.” The mane picked up right away as Killian knew he would, the man was going crazy looking for the little boy sitting next to him.

“Alpha Kane it’s Killian. I have some one who wants to talks to you.” Killian handed his phone to Xavier and Killian watched as the two of them talked animatedly. They reached the airport and Killian indicated for the phone and Xavier handed it to him.

“Where are you? I’ll be there right away?” Kane asked him desperately.

“I’m flying back to my pack, hopefully we will be there tomorrow morning.”

“Where are you?” He asked and Killian let out a sigh.

“Arkansas, I have the alpha responsible in custody.”

“Arkansas?!” Kane asked bewildered which is reasonable considering his pack was in NorthEast Ohio. Killian sighed,

“Sorry Alpha I have to go, I’ll call you when we land.”

“Of course I will get to your pack right away.”

Lovely, just lovely another stress for Lili to deal with. Killian had to call Nathan just in case the alpha made it to the pack before he did.
