Penelope pov

Looking out around the common areas of the pack house Penelope could see now that it was nothing but chaos. She walked to the front doors and saw nothing but strange faces. Who the heck were these people. There had to be at least two hundred additional people in the pack. Lili must have been going crazy. She had always been extremely private in regards to raising Callum and with good reason.

Penelope headed to the private stairwell that went upstairs when she was stopped by some one she didn’t recognize.

“The Luna was clear strangers can’t go into the private areas of the pack house.” Penelope looked the strange man who appeared to be of gamma rank. He must be one of the visiting packs Nathan was talking about.

“Back off gamma, my sister wasn’t talking about me,” Penelope turned around heading back up the stairs when a hand grabbed her. Penelope didn’t fight her instincts, so she grabbed his wrist with her other hand and gave him a quick twist hearing the bones give a sickening pop. Penelope smiled just now realizing how much stronger she has gotten since Braxton has marked her. The wolf cried out in pain as she pushed him away from her.

“Do not touch me,” she hissed and then several people came rushing forward including Holden.

“What’s going on here?” He asked and the wolf who touched her pointed at her accusingly.

“This crazy lady claimed to be the Luna’s sister and I stopped her from going up the private stairs. Then she just attacked me,” the guy hollered out. Penelope just smiled at Holden,

“How’s your mate Gamma?”

“She’s fine Penelope, how’s yours?” Holden also had ignored the wolf and talked like he didn’t exist. Penelope could sense some tension but she didn’t ask.

“Good,” Penelope said with a smile.

“Excited to be an aunt again?” Penelope felt a real smile come to her face.

“Have you seen the babies yet? They are so cute.” Penelope knew simply talking about seeing the twins would instantly tell everyone her status in the pack. Lili didn’t allow anyone near those babies except immediate family.

“No I haven’t, my daughter has been bugging me about it all week. As you can see this place is crazy.” Penelope nodded and asked him,

“Where is Killian?”

“The beta floor.” Penelope nodded and took off without another word. She quickly headed up to the third floor to the beta floor. The beta floor is where a lot of private meetings were held as Seth still hasn’t found his mate yet. The second Penelope got half way up the stair she could hear the chaos inside. When she got up there were servants, betas, gammas, and alphas all around the living room and hallways. It was pure chaos, Penelope shoved her way in looking for some one familiar.

Honestly she wasn’t sure what she was doing here, she just needed to be here. She went into Seth’s office and it was full of Alpha’s all arguing back and forth with each other. She listening trying to figure out what was going on.

“No we are leaving today!” One young alpha shouted.

“No on Thursday,” an older one shouted. Penelope ignored them and looked around for a a familiar face when Seth walked in. He had a worried expression on his face.

“What is it? Is it the babies?” She asked approaching him. Seth shook his head negative and she was relieved.

“We got an SOS from Alpha Braxton’s beta,” Seth stated. Penelope immediately started to freak out. Koko started to whine in her head worried for her mate. She pulled out her phone to see if there was any messages from her mate. There were none.

“What was it?” Dash asked frantically.

“They claim to know who is the new rogue king,” Seth states. “It’s some bear alpha hybrid in Ohio.” Penelope felt the bottom drop out of her stomach.

“What?” Penelope said in shock and everyone looked at her. “You mean the guy they went to for help to track down the rogues who ran the last auction and killed his mat?” Penelope asked. Everyone started to yell at each other and Penelope took off running for Killian for answers.

Killian pov

When he got the news that there was a lead on the new rogue king he immediately went into conference with the people he trusted most. The news was just a simple text to Jackson.

Need help. New rogue king in Ohio, need backup.

They were in his office of only five people; Nathan, Jackson, his father, and Brad. He wanted Seth in the discussion, but some one had to control the other alphas. Holden was keeping an eye on the disaster of a packhouse. Hell Holden had to hide anything valuable as people were starting to steal stuff. Killian needed to get his pack back under control and soon. Those caught stealing of course spent a night in the dungeons, but it doesn’t make the threat of an attack any less real. The new faces made it hard for his warriors who was a victim, who was part of the visiting packs, and who was a threat.

Tensions were high all around. He had to get these people out of here so his Luna and children could feel safe again. He also had to have an initiation ceremony for those who decided to stay on at the Midnight Howlers. By his last count there would be an additional twenty-five new members including Brad’s new mate.

“What do we do?” Brad started the discussion off. “We have to attack the council quickly before they have time to fortify and respond at headquarters.”

“How credible is the source of the information?” His father asked.

“It’s Penelope mate,” Jackson informed them. “If that didn’t say enough he is also an alpha from a pack in Alaska.”

“He’s also a white werebear,” Nathan threw in. “The whole family is from what I understand.” That spoke volumes, white bear shifters are very rare, like white wolves. They were almost always known to be in positions of power.

“How many men can we spare? We can’t ignore the request,” Killian stated.

“His brother will go,” Brad stated flatly.

“I don’t think I can spare more than five or six warriors to go,” Killian felt bad, but with the packhouse vulnerable he couldn’t risk it. The bulk of his warriors would be leaving with them to the werewolf council.

“What about Alpha Axel?” His father suggested as most of the MidWest alphas were on the beta floor wanting to eliminate the council.

“We can try, but from what I understand he’s been on a bender ever since finding out Svetlana is his second-chance mate.” Killian was super disappointed in his friend, but there wasn’t much he could do about it. When anyone tried to talk to him Axel simply hung up on them.

“Why? The son of a b***h is lucky,” his father stated.

“I’ll call him,” Jackson stated giving his father a look of understanding and left the room. Neither his father or Jackson received a second chance mate after theirs had died. His mother was actually his chosen mate, his father never knew the love of a true mate bond.

Killian hopes that it will change for his father and Seth his beta. The moon goddess has blessed several second chance matings in the last few years Hopefully the two people that mean a lot to them will get their chance. Jackson came back into the room and Killian got out of his head.

“Well?”

“I could only get ahold of Heath. He stated that Axel couldn’t come, but him and a few warriors would.” Killian felt super disappointed as that most likely mean Axel was not in a state to be able to go.

“All right let’s-“ he was cut off by a large crashing sound.

Penelope crashed into the room with a warrior trying to restrain her. That immediately had Kane growling as he viewed Penelope as his sister.

“Let go my sister!” His aura was rolling off of him in waves. The room all bowed to him except his father and Penelope. Killian smiled as it meant she was officially a Luna.

“What is the meaning of this warrior? Who are you?” Killian asked not recognizing him.

“I am so sorry alpha,” the warrior cried out still bearing his neck.

“As you should be, get the hell off this floor. I don’t care who you are, you don’t restrain a woman. Now leave before I let my wolf out,”Killian growled knowing full well Kane was visible in his eyes. The soldier bolted out of the room after being properly terrorized.

“I want that warrior followed,” Killian linked Wyatt who was one of his most trusted guards and standing at the base of the alpha floor.

“Yes alpha,” Wyatt responded.

“Is it true? Did Braxton send for help?” Penelope asked and he nodded.

“We are just trying to figure out the logistics now.”

“What do you mean? What’s wrong?” Penelope asked confused.

“Will you tell her?” Killian asked Jackson as he could put it better than him.

“Penne, we can only spare a few warriors with the extra people here at the packhouse and impending attack,” Jackson came to comfort her.

“What other attack? The council?” She asked looking at Brad who simply nodded.

“Axel is willing to send men, but not very many,” Nathan told her.

“Then I will be going myself,” she said determinedly. Jackson was going to stop her, but Killian shook his head no.

“Fine, inform Dash and we will pick four other warriors.”

“I will go with her,” Jackson stated and he nodded expecting it. Nathan would stay at the packhouse along with Holden to watch over it. Sadly it was the best he could do right now, Killian just prayed to the goddess he wasn’t making a mistake.
