The Fall Ball
Chapter 14

(Alpha Jake)

As I walk to my office from the pack hospital, I think about Rose and how she recovered so rapidly. Even I can not heal broken bones within a few hours and I have alpha b***d, I heal the fastest! When she was younger, Rose took a very long time to get better.

With this and her strange dream with the goddess, I can’t help but think that she has had something to do with her rapid healing. The goddess must have something special planned for Rose.

I shake the thoughts away, as I’m ending up with more questions than answers at this point. I can’t do much more than sit back and see what happens for now. I need to focus on what I need to do now; Ashlee and her parents are waiting in my office for me.

I am beyond upset with Ashlee and what she has done. She always walks around like she is better than others, and I don’t know why. Her family are not high ranking pack members, Rose and her family are higher ranking.

Mac is one of the finest pack warriors I have, that is why I have him on border patrol. Every now and again he will help me train some of the younger pack members.

Ashlee’s parents are just shop owners in town. They own a bakery. Their sweets are amazing, and get a lot of business, but they’re just normal pack members.

I get to my office door and try to calm myself down before walking in, as I don’t want to snap at them. When I walk in I see Ashlee and her parents, Ruby and Dean. I nod to them as I proceed to sit behind my desk.

“Excuse me Alpha, but why have you called us here? Ashlee would not tell us what has happened,” Dean asks me.

“I’m sure she didn’t,” I tell him. And I look to Ashlee.

“I’m giving you one chance, and one chance only, to tell them now what happened. If you don’t tell them I will, and if you lie your punishment will be far harsher. You are lucky to be sitting here and not in a cell.”

“I don’t know why you are being so extreme, I got into a fight with another girl. She was in my way and refused to leave,” she says.

“Oh no, are you okay?” Ruby asks Ashlee.

“Yeah mom I’m fine, I walked away without a scratch,” she says with a smirk.

I growl, they all jump.

“Now Ashlee, would you mind telling your parents who the other girl was?” I say to her with a low growl.

“Oh she doesn’t matter, they don’t need to know,” She responds nervously.

“Oh, I think they need to know who the girl is, since you sent her to the hospital.” I say.

She looks away from me. “Rose,” she responds quietly.

“Oh come now, tell us who it was, we couldn’t hear who it was when you mumbled!” I say to her angerfully.

She looks at me, and glares.

“I suggest you check your attitude. I am your Alpha and you will show respect.” I growl at her.

“Rose, I got into a fight with the useless human that lives within the pack. She has no right to be here. And she was in my way when I tried to leave the pack house earlier, she was blocking the door.” She says.

“Oh, Ashlee what have you done?” Dean asks her.

“Do you realize the amount of damage you could have done to her? You have strength when she does not! You have no right to treat her like that! I am sure she wasn’t in your way and you were just being rude,” Dean tells her.

Dean looks up at me. “Alpha I am so sorry for what she has done, and she will be punished at home. We would also like to pay for the hospital bills for Rose.”

“Is Rose going to be okay?” Ruby asks me.

I just look at them and shrug. I don’t want them to know that she has healed perfectly fine.

“When Rose was admitted, her nose was shattered. When Doctor Owen took the X-rays we saw that she had 3 broken ribs on one side, and 2 broken ribs on the other side. She was in a lot of pain. So he gave her some meds to make sure she could get some sleep.”

“As she has no wolf, we don’t know exactly how long it will take for her to heal. But the doctor is planning to keep an eye on her to make sure that she heals. She will be okay in time. Now, on to punishment for Ashlee.” I say looking at her.

I hear her gulp and her heart rate has picked up. Good she is nurvouse.

She looks up at me with fear in her eyes. Her parents pull each other closer together. They are all silently waiting to see what I have to say.

“I believe it is only fair that Ashlee be responsible for the hospital bills. Since she wanted to act out and caused the damage, she will work and pay it off. I do not want you to just give her the money to pay for it. I would like her to work for it.” I say to them all.

“As you own a shop, I suggest she works for you until she has made the final payment.” Her parents look at me with shock on their faces.

“Oh, I think they need to know who the girl is, since you sent her to the hospital.” I say.

“Oh yes Alpha, I believe that to be fair,” Dean says to me. I nod at him.

“That is the punishment then. Please take her home, and let me know when she is able to make the payment.” Her parents nod to me and get up to walk out of the office.

Ashlee then gets up and looks at me. “Thank you Alpha for being a fair and respectful Alpha,” she says.

I just watch her as she walks towards her parents who are waiting at the door.

“Oh and Ashlee, since you disrespected another pack member at the pack house for no reason. You are no longer welcome here unless there is a meeting or function going on that all members are required to attend to. I do not want to see you here without permission.” I tell her.

She looks at me with tears in her eyes, “Yes Alpha,” she says. Then they all leave.

After they leave, I relax in my chair and start to lean back. All of a sudden my door is thrown open.

“What the hell did you do?” John yells at me.

I look at him and behind him I can see his mother, Elizabeth trying to calm him down.

“I think you both should come in and sit. I have some things to inform you about.” John storms in and glares at me as he sits across from me.

My lovely Luna however comes in with a smile on her face. She walks over and k****s me before walking over and sitting next to our son.

Elizabeth is already aware of everything that is going on. She and I mind-linked earlier, and I told her about it all. She is glad Ashlee won’t be around anymore, she thinks she is a terrible influence on John.

I take my time and explain everything that has happened today. I leave out information about Rose and her healing as John doesn’t need to know and Elizabeth already knows. John is angry with what I tell him. I expected him to be. He stands up and walks to the door.

“I will never forgive you if you push her away from me. I love her and I have chosen her as my mate,” He tells me. Elizabeth gasps and I get angry.

“Why would you choose her? You haven’t even taken the time to find your destined mate!” I yell at him.

“I don’t want a destined mate, I want her!” He tells me.

“No one should tell you who you are supposed to be with,” he mutters as he walks away.
