The Fall Of Lucian -
Chapter 36
-You see, I told you I wouldn’t have this thing you’ve left in my body.
-I’m not going to let you die, let alone my puppy perish because of your stupidity. They both belong to me.
Alexander takes Deisy in his arms and carries her a little.
-It’s no use trying to save me, I’m going to die anyway. This wound is too deep.
-You’re wrong.
-I thought you were a good man, I really did; but it was all a lie. I’d rather die than continue to feel affection for a bastard like you,” he says with hatred in his voice.
-You’ll have to get used to it because you’re bound to me.
Alex, as if to take her somewhere else, when out of nowhere someone grabs him by the shoulder and makes him let go of Deisy with a jerk.
He turns around and notices a huge albino wolf in front of him, Alexander sharpens his gaze, then looks at Deisy who had stopped moving. He then transforms into a wolf.
-Prince, what a surprise to see you here.
-Who are you?
-I am Alexander, Lucian’s grandson, but I don’t have time to explain anything to you now, she is dying and I need to take her to save her life. So I’ll finish with you quickly and get the hell out of here.
Bardas looks at Deisy’s body, it was in very bad condition.
-You killed all those people behind her.
-They were just a hindrance, when my grandfather and I rule all these lands, neither you nor your father will be able to do anything. They will surrender at our feet.
-I will never serve a false alpha like you or your grandfather.
Bardas rushes towards Alexander and without any trouble the young prince grabs the wolf by the side and tears his flesh with force, then throws his body away and sees that he does not stand up.
-I’m not just any wolf you can mess with,” Alex struggled to get to his feet.
-She’s dying…” he mumbles.
That damn wolf was very strong, and he, with all his injuries from Deysi, was having a bit of trouble recovering. Still, it mattered to him that she was saved, if she lived the pup lived too. But he would not tell Bardas that, as he would be able to kill the albino before the child was born.
Bardas glances towards Deisy and runs to meet her, looks at her wound. It was deep and she was losing a lot of b***d. She really was dying, but as he inspected her, he sensed that the guy was getting to his feet and was ready to attack him.
He let him think he wasn’t watching him, and as he went to attack him, Bardas spun around to grab him by the throat and finally rip it out.
Alexander’s body was split in two, his head on Bardas’ snout and the body away from him… the prince spits out the head and then transforms into a human.
-Deisy… Wake up!
As she doesn’t react and her mind is completely blank, he takes her in his arms and pretends to run to the first hut he can find, but then he hears someone else moaning. The prince turns his face and sees another woman crawling in the sand.
[…]Ria slowly opens her eyes, she felt a lot of pain in her body that prevented her from moving easily. She only manages to open her eyes and sees everything half dark, she licks her lips and that is when she perceives the taste of fresh water touching her lips.
He begins to move his lips as he feels more of the life-giving liquid run down his throat.
-Slowly, you shouldn’t drink too much,” she hears the voice of a man she doesn’t recognise at the moment.
She finally opens her eyes and it is when she notices the presence of Prince Bardas beside her.
-Prince! -she exclaims excitedly.
-Calm down, don’t strain yourself. I barely managed to stop your wound from bleeding.
-No, you don’t understand… he’s the son, he has to find my alpha and tell him that….
-It’s ok, I know… he’s gone, I’ve ended his life,” he cries out to her, putting her back on the bed. You need to rest, to sleep a little longer.
She denies and swallows.
-My alpha, where is my mistress, I need to see her,” Bardas remains serious and she notices. What is it, where is she?
-That won’t be possible, for now you must calm down and rest. We must make a trip to the blue moon pack and I need you to get well, there is no one left in this pack to send a messenger.
-Deisy, where is he? Tell me,” she tries to get up, but Bardas won’t let her.
-Sleep, that’s an order.
She blinks several times, she couldn’t hold back the tears so she let them out without stopping.
-She died, didn’t she? -She asks pitifully. I can’t hear her thoughts.
-Please, I need you to rest.
She nods, and closes her eyes.
When Bardas sees her still she lets out her breath, stands up and leaves the room. He stands in the corridor, and looks into the other room where Deisy’s body lay. He licks his lips and enters it, sees her lying on the bed so still.
There was nothing more he could do for her….
-If I had arrived a few minutes earlier, none of this would have happened.
He denies and sits down on a chair next to the albino’s bed.
-You must be strong Deisy, it’s all up to your willpower to save yourself,” he looks at her seriously.
She barely managed to stop the bleeding from her wound, and hopefully she was able to cook the injury. It was strange, but it wouldn’t heal on its own, so he had to boil it. He had lost so much b***d that he suspected he would not last the night.
For that reason he couldn’t say anything to the young woman in the other room, it would be like lying to her.
He leaned his body back in his chair and closed his eyes, it was his turn to attend to those two women alone. In that place there was not a single soul he could count on.
[…]The next day, Bardas opened his eyes and saw that Deisy had not progressed in the night. At least she was still alive, but she did not wake up. He stands up and glances at the young woman in the other room.
-She’s still alive! -he smiles as he trudges over to the albino.
-You should be lying down, that wound on your body almost cost you your life.
-I’ll be fine.
-I don’t know if your alpha will make it. I’ve done what I could, at least his wound has started to heal, but I’m not sure he’ll last.
Ria listens to the prince, then places a hand on her mistress’s wound and removes it at once.
-It can’t be…
-What’s wrong?
-She’s pregnant.
That information makes Bardas look at the albino, and he remembers what happened the day before. He had seen Alexander make an attempt to take Deisy, and after he found out who she was, he assumed that he was looking to leave his essence inside her.
But she never imagined that had already happened.
Deisy was carrying the child of evil within her, and that was a complicated matter, because when that puppy was born it would seek to murder its own mother. And if Alexander was Lucian’s grandson, that meant that the puppy on the way was Lucian’s last direct descendant.
What was he to do?
-That cub cannot be born, prince,” he looked up and stared at the young woman.
-What are you saying?
-And no one can know that she mingled with that wolf, let alone fathered his child.
-What do you mean? You’re telling me that Deisy fell in love with Alexander.
-She fought against those feelings, but he was able to envelop her and lure her into his trap. He just wanted to leave his seed in her without having to use other, rougher methods. But that puppy cannot be born, it is a demon, even worse than the father.
Bardas looks at the albino, it was her decision whether to keep the baby or not… but what Ria said was true, that child could not be born. He closes his eyes and tries to think of the right thing to do.
-I think Deisy is the one who should decide.
-I know she won’t want to have this child.
-But if you take it out, she could…
-I’ll erase her memories, she won’t remember anything that happened with that man. -I’ll erase her memories.
-Ria, you should know that Deisy is marked. I saw her mark when I cleaned her body.
The young woman swallows saliva.
-I’ll take responsibility for that, prince. I just want you to authorize me to do the procedure. You are the king’s son, you have the authority to allow something like this. She has the right to have good puppies.
It was all on him.
-All right,” he looks at the albino and then at Ria. Do it. But save her.
The wait was long, while Ria did whatever she had to do in that room he was kicked out of, he began to bring some order to the village. Burying the dead properly and finally burning Alexander’s body completely.
By nightfall, he was already exhausted from the work he had to do alone. But it was worth it, everything was as it was before, that would help Deisy not to suspect anything. What did have him wondering was how this young woman would erase the memories of her alpha.
-Prince Bardas,” he hears her and turns his body, “It’s done!
-How is she?
-I think she will be saved.
-And her memories?
-I’ve erased them all, she only knows the essentials.
-Who are you?
She looks down, but doesn’t answer.
-She answers.
-My mother was the sister of the witch of the forbidden mountain. My aunt killed her years ago, my mother practiced white magic, the opposite of what my aunt does. She couldn’t stand the idea that my mother didn’t want to support her with her evil spells, so she took her life. My mother sent me to the village with my father who was a wolf, but he couldn’t protect me.
Bardas looks at her seriously.
-My mistress took me in when I was just a cub, but she never knew where I came from. My mother made sure that I didn’t remember anything about my life, until I saw those lights on the mountain. And I remembered everything, so I confronted Alexander because I knew what he was, but he went crazy and started killing everyone.
-So you’re a wolf, but a witch,” she looks at him in anguish.
-But I’m not like my aunt, I’m different. I don’t want to do evil, I swear my prince.
He wasn’t sure he could trust her, she was one of his own, but also half witch. However, she was trying to save Deisy’s life and that said a lot about her.
-I’ll keep your secret, no one must know where you come from. But if I find out you’re doing anything wrong, I’ll personally take it upon myself to rip your head off.
-Yes, my lord,” he bows slightly.
-The village is ready to receive its people, many have been saved and are in a blue moon. I must go to them and give news of my situation to my moon.
-We’ll be fine, prince.
-I will leave in the morning.
And so it was that when the next day came, Bardas left Deisy’s pack, taking with him the secrets hidden in that place. It was a heavy burden to carry, but the decisions he made in that place were the right ones.
He said goodbye to Ria and then ran away.
The young woman watched the prince walk away and smiled wistfully, she hoped that her people would soon be able to return to their lands. They would have to start all over again, and again her mistress was heartbroken.
But fortunately she would not get to remember it, that part of her life she would never remember.
[…]Like every morning, afternoon and evening, Adara waited for her wolf to appear on her land. But he gave no sign, she was already worried about this long absence, she was even planning to send a team to those lands if he didn’t show up that day.
-Waiting there on foot won’t bring him back any sooner, Adara, you need to eat and get some sleep,” her aunt told her.
-He doesn’t show up, neither do my parents, and neither does the king… How can you tell me to relax, Aunt? I’m very worried about everyone.
-Me too, but we must be patient.
-I can’t be… Bardas! -she mumbles, her eyes widening as she sees her wolf emerge from the trees.
