The Fortune-Telling Heiress -
Chapter 105
Chapter 105
"Y-You..." Tanya stammered, pointing a trembling finger at Queenie.
Queenie crossed her arms and sneered at Rebecca. "Rebecca, we've been friends for years. You know exactly what you've told me. If you don't want me to spill everything in front of Mrs. Locke, you'd better drop that act."
Rebecca's tearful expression stiffened, and she awitwardly wiped at her eyes. Queenie used to feel sympathy for her when she said those things before. But now, seeing how these two behaved in front of Madison, she realized just how empty those words really were. With a cold laugh, Queenie sat across from Madison. "Madison, that one million dollars earlier is to thank you for helping me see that scumbag's true colors. This time, I'm giving you another million dollars to retrieve my horoscope." She pulled another check from her bag and pushed it toward Madison.
She continued, "Let me be clear-my dad already sent someone to get my horoscope, but they said they couldn't retrieve them because that ghost shrine is pretty powerful. So, this one million dollars is just a deposit. If you can get my horoscope back, I'll give you another million"
As Queenie finished spealing, she looked intently at Madison. Madison calmly finished her milk and wiped her mouth with a napkin. Rebecca whispered, "Queenie, how can you insult Maddie with money? Maddie doesn't need it."
As soon as she finished, Madison casually took the check and stuffed it into her pocket. "I'll retrieve your horoscope."
Rebecca looked disappointed. "Maddie, our family doesn't need money! How can you agree to help her just for cash?"
Queenie stood up and shot back, "How is offering money an insult? Should I belittle her with my emotions like what you guys are doing instead?"
Before Rebecca could respond, Tanya interrupted, "Maddie, if you're willing to help Queenie, why won't you help Becky?"
Madison carried her empty plate and cup toward the kitchen. "Haven't you all been asking me to help Rebecca retrieve Queenie's horoscope from the start?"
She turned back to Tanya. "Weren't you the one saying that if we didn't retrieve Queenie's horoscope, the Andersons would send Rebecca's to the ghost shrine? Well, I've already agreed to retrieve Queenie's."
Queenie scoffed at this, "Rebecca, is that what you said?"
Rebecca shrank behind Tanya. "I wasn't wrong. Your brothers did threaten me."
Queenie rushed over and pulled Rebecca out from behind Tanya. "My brothers were just speaking out of anger. How can you use them as an excuse?
"You want Madison to go to the ghost shrine because they threatened you? No, it's because you've put your own horoscope there!" Queenie paused for a moment, then let out a bitter laugh. "No wonder we're seen as the most useless of our generation." Before meeting Kevin, she owned a successful jewelry company with a well-known brand. But after going to the ghost shrine, everything fell apart. There were reports of customers having allergic reactions to her products, and the scandal quickly spread online. The brand collapsed, and the company went under. She went from being a businesswoman to the useless Ms. Anderson, who spent her days idly shopping with nothing to do.
Rebecca's situation was even
more laughable.
The Locke family kept throwing resources at her career in the entertainment industry. She starred in major international films and big productions, yet she never became famous. Even when the movies were successful, none of that success reflected on her. It turned out the problem wasn't with them personally-it was because they had prayed at the ghost shrine. They found love, but their
Careers were ruined
