The Fortune-Telling Heiress -
Chapter 115
Chapter 115
"Madison, why didn't you just destroy this statue?" asked Queenie.
"I can't," Madison replied.
"Huh? Why can't you?" Queenie was startled. "Is your cultivation level not enough? This statue is only going to bring more harm if we leave it be."
"It has nothing to do with my cultivation level. It's because this ghost shrine is formed from the concentrated strength of this world's greed, love, and lust."
She had also only learned of the ghost shrine's formation process after coming here while she was engaged in a mystical battle with it.
"There are always people in the world who will pray for a love that doesn't belong to them. It's strong obsessions like these that created this ghost shrine. The more threads of destiny the shrine severs and the more karma it devours, the more its power grows, Madison swept her gaze over the jars. "Even if you were to contact the owners of these jars right now, there will definitely be many more willing to enshrine their horoscopes."
In the eyes of these people, their careers, freedom, health, and wealth were all nothing compared to love. As long as they could obtain the love they desired, they were willing to pay any price.
As they chatted, Madison suddenly asked, "What about Rebecca? Didn't she want to come get her horoscope?"
Queenie rolled her eyes at the mention of Rebecca. "Hah! She said the ghost shrine wasn't safe at night, so she ran off soon after night
fell."
Madison stayed quiet for a few seconds. She glanced at Rebecca's horoscope and didn't speak up again.
The party made their way down the mountain.
They arrived at the foot of the mountain, only to see Tanya, who was holding a flashlight. Tanya's face broke out in a smile upon seeing them. She approached Madison and looked her up and down. "Are you alright?" she asked with concern
There was dew dripping from her hair. Tanya paid it no mind and simply sighed in relief. "I was about to go up the mountain." Queenie paused, glancing at Tanya in surprise. "You already came all the way down, Mrs. Locke. Why would you go back up again?" "I was escorting Becky down, but Maddie is also my daughter. How can I just leave her alone on the mountain?"
Madison spoke up then, "I'm fine. You head back first."
"That's right, let's head back. You have stomach issues and haven't eaten for an entire day. I've already had the inn prepare some delicious food for you."
They continued to walk as Tanya talked.
Eventually, they arrived back at their inn, and Tanya split away from Madison's group. She nagged Madison to have proper meals and sleep early before reluctantly returning to the other inn.
Queenie tilted her head. "Mrs. Locke is acting strange! I thought she only cared for Rebecca, but she seems to treat you pretty well."
True to Tanya's words, the inn had already prepared delicious food for them.
Queenie plopped down on a chair. However, instead of eating, she brought out her phone and started a video call with her family.
The moment the call connected, she flashed her horoscope at the screen. "Dad, Mom, look! It's my horoscope! We got the slip of paper out, all thanks to Madison!"
Over at the Anderson residence, Queenie's parents and brothers crowded around the screen.
Queenie started explaining the process of retrieving her horoscope to them animatedly. She made it sound like Madison had gone through hell and back to help her get her horoscope back. Madison, who heard the whole story, was speechless.
Who knew that Queenie had the potential to be a storyteller?
If only she had even half of Queenie's storytelling ability, she wouldn't have to worry about her streams not being popular.
After dinner, she returned to her room and showered. Then, she got into bed to start her pre-sleep routine.
Yara and Mia had gone off somewhere. Although Madison didn't allow them to go too far, they were still eager to explore around,
Only Madison and Sebastian remained in the room.
Sebastian's voice rang out in the bedroom. "What did you see at the ghost shrine?"
Madison slowly opened her eyes and saw him hovering right in front of her.
He bent down to her eye level and asked again, "What did you see at the ghost shrine?"
