Kylan felt quite awkward.

For one, he was stuck in Jonah's office while Jonah quietly worked on different documents and was in and out. Then he was constantly asked if he was alright by Jonah, who brought random plates of food portions and forced Kylan to eat. Worst of all, Jonah's boyfriend came to visit, which did cause Kylan to feel extremely uncomfortable in their presence.

They had to leave the office to talk privately since Jonah refused to allow Kylan out of his sight.

When the door closed, Jonah's boyfriend, Lucas, faced him and said, "What the hell do you think you're doing?"

They had been dating for about two months, and Lucas was an insecure overprotective boyfriend who was just as handsome as Jonah, with blond hair he always placed in a bun and brown chocolate appealing eyes. They were enough to cause Jonah's heart to jitter just a bit and enough to make him forget about Kylan for some time.

Seeing his angry stare did annoy Jonah, who rolled his eyes and placed his palms on his waist, "If you came to argue with me, you can leave—"

"You invited your ex to stay with you, the one you can never stop talking about. Now he has to be there at your work?"

"Yes, Lucas," Jonah exclaimed, "he just got discharged due to self-harm; he could have died. I'm the one taking care of him."

"Why don't you let his cousin deal with him? What was her name? Lyla?"

"It was Ella, and again, as I explained a thousand fucking times," he stepped towards him menacingly, "she didn't do a good enough job. I don't trust them, but I trust myself, so he's staying with me." "How long is he staying?"

"Until he gets better." When Lucas grimaced, Jonah furrowed his brows, "Don't you dare make that face."

"My fucking boyfriend is living with his ex-boyfriend of six years, and I'm supposed to be alright with it—"

"Can you leave? You're annoying me."

"I'm here to talk to you as an adult," he hissed, waving his arms, "and you're going to dismiss me?"

"You're just shouting at me!"

"Because I care about our relationship, and we're in a good space right now," he reached forward and gripped Jonah's chest, "and I love you."

Jonah bit his bottom lip, staring into those eyes, and it did cause his heart to melt slightly. He lowered his lips and gently pressed them on Lucas's, forgetting that there were other employees around who glanced in their direction. Jonah sneaked an arm around Lucas's lower back and pressed his body against his. "Can we talk about this when I get home?" he cooed.

Lucas tilted his head, "We can't talk about it in front of him."

"I'll make him a bath, and we can talk during that," Jonah smiled weakly, "I promise we'll be fine."

Although Lucas did not entirely believe him, he left the building, and Jonah exhaled a sharp breath of relief, sending trembling fingers through his hair and returning inside his office.

Lucas's eyes caused Jonah's heart to jitter, but Kylan's eyes caused it to be overwhelmed with such warmness that he thought he would faint. As if there was an electric shock every time he stared at him, and Jonah resisted those urges since cheating was not one of his solutions.

Kylan glanced in his direction, closing the magazine and returning it to its pile on the side, "I've been here for six hours doing nothing."

"You've been reading magazines?" Jonah replied with a frown.

"You know that's not what I mean. Let me go home."

"No, Kylan," Jonah growled, walking around his desk and sitting down, "you're staying with me."

"Why are you being this protective?"

"I'm just being diligent and keeping an eye on you until I feel that I don't need to anymore."

"That's going to take months-"

"Then so be it."

Kylan folded his arms, "I'm not a child."

"I never said you were."

"You're treating me like one"

Jonah chuckled, "That's definitely not my intention."

"I can take care of my own," Kylan fought back.

Jonah paused for a moment and then smiled, "I'm just worried about you. I want to be able to make sure you're alright."

"I've told you I'm alright."

"You said the same thing to Ella for months, and look what happened," he snapped, shaking his head, "if only she had been more careful and supporting."

"I hate that you're blaming her," he scoffed.

"Who else should I blame? The fucking pair of scissors you used?"

"Don't bring that up, please," Kylan breathed quietly, his voice suddenly sounding weak and soft.

Jonah instantly jumped to his feet and reached for Kylan, "I did not mean for that to sound insensitive. I'm just saying Kylan, Ella's partially blamed."

"You should be blaming me, and only me. Not Ella; I did this to myself."

"She could've prevented that "

"It doesn't matter. I'm better now, so you don't have to worry. Can I go back to yours now?"

Jonah paused for a moment, tilting his head and falling into his thoughts before eventually shaking his head, "No."

That no caused Kylan's body to disappointedly fall back onto the chair and angrily cross his arms, turning away from him. He felt trapped in this office, but it did feel better than the hours of loneliness he spent every day at Ella's home. Seeing Jonah working was enough to keep him sane and content.

It was quite late when they returned home, and Jonah followed behind Kylan to the elevator. A fragile little hand pushed itself in between the doors before it closed, and coincidentally as it could be, Sam entered the elevator with a large stomach that both of them noticed.

She raised her eyebrows at the sight of both of them and smirked, "Back together?"

"Back to being a cheating, lying, conniving little bitch?" Jonah snarled immediately. He always saw her around and roasted her with insults. She had purposely ruined their relationship, and he had no idea why.

Sam shrugged her shoulders, unbothered, "I'm doing perfectly well with my fiancé Pete, thank you. Also, Kylan, you look like a drug addict."

"You little "

"Jonah," Kylan instinctively reached for his chest and stepped in front of him, "I'm fine, relax."

Only seconds later, they realized they were too close, and Kylan awkwardly coughed, stepping away from Jonah. However, the palm had left tingles on Jonah's chest, his hormones hard to suppress.

Sam laughed, and the elevator doors opened, "Catch you later."

"You're so annoying," he spat as she walked towards her condo, and Jonah followed Kylan to his own.

Lucas was already inside when they entered the condo, and Jonah had been hoping he would not be. Lucas stepped towards the entrance with an apron around his waist, grinning at Jonah and widening his arms before he realized Kylan was standing behind him.

And before he even arrived in town, Jonah had already told Lucas that there could be not a single trace of PDA in front of Kylan.

His arms fell to his sides, and Jonah stepped to the side, "Lucas, this is Kylan. Kylan, that's Lucas. Since you two had not formally met yet-"

"I was hoping we wouldn't," Lucas grumbled under his breath, which they both heard.

Kylan cleared his throat uncomfortably, "Hi."

"Hey, I heard you were discharged from a self-harm problem?"

"Ya..." his voice trailed off, and he felt awkward when Jonah walked away from them and headed for the kitchen. Not to mention, Lucas was quite built and taller than him, which was frightening to him.

He raised an eyebrow, "Don't do that here, okay?" Kylan was unsure how to answer that, and Lucas leaned in, "Also, I don't care what you've both been through. Your time is over, and he's my boyfriend now-"

"Lucas," Jonah shouted from the kitchen before making his way to them, "I can fucking hear you."

"Jonah, you can't expect me to be alright with him being here"

"Then leave!" Jonah screamed, stomping his feet towards them and accidentally pushing Kylan aside to open the door, "Please leave."

"I was just letting him know."

"And he already knows," he slammed the door shut, "stop being a bitch about it and let him be. He's not doing anything else than watch me work and hang out."

"What if he tries something on you-"

"Which he hasn't yet, so until that happens, you can't be mad for no reason," Jonah snarled.

Lucas rolled his eyes but closed his mouth for a few seconds before stepping towards angry Jonah and placing his palm on his chest, "I'm sorry."

"Don't be sorry," Jonah's tone had softened, "you should know I love you and wouldn't do anything to hurt us."

Lucas leaned upwards to his lips, "Yes, I know," before connecting them and placing his fingers on Jonah's jaw. It was done on purpose, since when he glanced to his side during the kiss, he did see Kylan uncomfortably shuffling his feet beside them, attempting not to look.

Jonah soon realized that Kylan was still there and pulled apart, "Kylan, I'm so sorry about that."

"It's fine," he said quietly, stepping around them, "I'm really tired anyway, so I'll be going to bed."

"Ky, I-"

"Goodnight."
