Logan's POV

My Alpha ceremony was now complete, and this pack was mine to command. I had played along with my father's game to insure he gave me the title as we discussed when we discussed. I had them do the ceremony in the morning the day after Julia ran away so I would be able to send warriors into the woods to see if they could track where she went. Getting them out there as soon as possible was vital so the trail would be fresh.

We didn't have the big ta-do like was originally planned, just my father passing the title to me with lan and Tyler present. I convinced him it would look in poor taste to have all the Alpha's, Beta's, and Luna's from the neighboring pack without the Lycan King present, and with our own Beta sitting in the dungeons. With my father so obsessed with the image of this pack, he quickly agreed I was right. I was waiting for the warriors to report back to me with any information.

"We should never have left her alone in our room," Levi said.

"How were we supposed to know Alexis was going to run to our father and rat us out? I certainly never thought he'd order Mavin to kill her. We're just lucky he asked Marvin to do it and not someone else. She never would have gotten the opportunity to escape then. We know she's alive and we'll find her before long."

I had very quickly taken over my dad's office, and that's where I currently was. I had made lan my Beta and Tyler my Gamma, and they were both moving into the pack house now. Neither of them agreed with me about bringing Julia back here, but that didn't matter to me. If they tried anything, I would strip them of their titles, and those were more important to them than anything.

I had broken things off with Alexis a few hours ago, and she had gone ballistic, screaming, and hollering at me about everything she had done for me. Not that any of that mattered now that I found my mate, even if she had rejected me. I had not accepted it, and once she was back, I would get her to take back her rejection. There was a knock on my door.

"Come in," I said. In came two of our warriors I had sent to look for Julia, Jameson, and Gage. "What did you find?" I asked before they had even closed the door.

"We found her blood trail, starting from where she got hit. We followed it for many miles. She managed to get a lot further than we originally thought. We had to stop tracking because she crossed over into Lycan territory. Our best guess is someone from their pack must have found her."

"Fu*k," I said. "How are we supposed to get her back if she's in the Lycan pack?"

"I don't know Alpha, but some of us have been talking"

"Is that right," I cut him off.

"Yes, and we mean no disrespect, but why go after her at all? Why not take a chosen mate, a strong she-wolf, from this pack or a neighboring one?"

"NO!" I yelled out, causing them to cower at my anger. "I will have my fated mate, and that is the end of it. I don't care that she's a hybrid. Marvin has informed me she's very powerful, she comes from Alpha blood, so she is worthy of being the Luna of this pack. You will not question my decision making again, is that understood?"

"Yes, Alpha." He said, looking at the floor.

"You two may go." They both left my office without another word.

"The Lycan pack? If they have her, how are we going to get her back? That's the pack that the Lycan King resides in."

"I know that! And I don't know, but we can't just go running in there with no proof. First we need to figure out if she's really there or not."

"How are we going to do that?"

"We'll have to send a couple of people in."

"But the Lycan's will kill or capture them. They don't take kindly to wolf intruders."

"Then it will have to be some people we're willing to lose. Or we'll have to set up a decoy, so she comes out. All we need to do is see if she's there or not." The door to my office burst open, and my dad came flying in beet red in the face. "LOGAN RUSSELL!" he bellowed. "WHAT IS THIS I HEAR ABOUT YOUR PLANS TO GO AFTER THE HYBRID?!"

"DO NOT SHOUT AT ME, THIS IS MY OFFICE AND MY PACK NOW. YOU WILL SHOW ME SOME RESPECT!" I roared back at him. He was looking at me as though he wanted to strangle me. The hatred of not having full control was apparent in his face. I sat back down in my chair and looked at him through narrow eyes.

"You failed in your attempt to kill her. My warriors tracked her blood into Lycan territory. I know she's alive."

"How can you possibly know that? She rejected you and the two of you have no bond now. For all you know, they killed her for crossing into their territory."

"That's why I'm going to check and see if she's alive."

"You will do no such thing! You need to forget your old mate and find a new one. Maybe the Moon Goddess will give you a second chance mate."

"I will do what I please, this is my pack now."

"I knew I should never have given the title to you. I thought you were coming to your senses after the hybrid ran away, but clearly you're not."

"I'm fully in my right mind, and you will not stop me. Now get out of my office before I have you thrown in the dungeons for your disrespect." "You wouldn't dare, I'm still your father."

"That means nothing to me now. GET OUT!" She scowled at me, and I could hear him mumbling under his breath, but he left my office.

"We should throw him in the dungeons now before he tries anything stupid." Levi barked.

"No, he's not going to try anything. What could he do at this point? I'm the Alpha and my pack will defend me if he tries anything." I had thought about putting my father in the dungeons for his order to kill Julia but decided against it. I had just become the Alpha and I would need his help getting my footing. If he did become a nuisance, then I would do what I had to. Right now, I needed to think of a way to get into the Lycan pack or draw Julia out if she was in there.

"Tyler, lan, come to my office!" I yelled.

"On our way, Alpha." A few minutes later, they came running through my door, sensing the urgency in my voice.

"What do you need?" lan asked.

"I want you and Tyler to gather some more warriors. I want you to go to the borders of the Lycan pack and scope it out. See what you can see and how they patrol. If you spot Julia, even if it's for a split second, you have to report it back to me immediately." "Yes Alpha," Tyler said. "How long would you like us out there for?"

"For as long as it takes! You can come home every evening but take shifts, so someone is always watching some part of the border. This is our first step in getting my mate back."

"What do we do if we find her, and she has a new mate?"

"In the Lycan pack?" I laughed. "Don't be ridiculous. Everyone knows they never mate with wolves. If anything, they're only letting her stay until she's healed. Then they'll probably send her away. I don't think they'd kill a useless she-wolf."

"And you're sure about this?" lan asked hesitantly.

"Are you questioning your Alpha?"

"No sir, just making sure you've thought this through."

"Of course, I have. All you have to do is take turns watching the border. Do you think you can manage that?"

"Yes Alpha, we can."

"Good, now get going. If she's healed by now, they'll let her go soon." They both looked at each other but bowed their heads and walked away.

"We had better get some information fast. I don't like waiting," Levi told me.

"I don't either, but we need to try and be patient this time. Finding her is the most important thing right now."

"Sure wish we had a witch's help."

"We don't need anyone's help. We can do this on our own." I hoped that was true. The pain I felt when Julia rejected me was crippling. Getting her back and having her back in my arms consumed my every thought. I wanted to go out and watch the border with them, but I also now had a pack to run. I sat back in my chair; this was going to be a long few days waiting for information.
